Mix and Match Outfits for Spring/Summer with Great Basics

For today’s post I’m going to be showing you 9 different outfits with the same 3 earrings, 3 tops, 3 shorts, and 3 shoes.  And 9 is just tip of the iceberg as far as number of outfit combos go with these pieces. There are so many mix and match outfits for spring and summer! All you have to do is flip flop the tops with the shorts and then switch out the shoes and accessories to achieve countless looks. So many looks in fact, it will make your head spin.

I’m showing you just 9 outfits today, but I’ll have you know I consulted my math teacher friend Andrea to ask her how many outfit combos you could actually create with these pieces. And the answer SHOCKED me. Are you ready? First of all, I’ll have you know this type of math problem is called a “counting principle problem.” #whoknew #notme And there are actually 162 outfit combinations that are possible.  #mind #blown

3 TOPS:  striped tunic tee (I suggest sizing down.  I have an x-small.)/ embroidered top at Nordstrom  and same top at Madewell (True to size, I have a 4. Size down if between sizes.  I should mention here, I think most will want to wear a cami under this top.)/ striped sweater (I sized up to a medium for a relaxed fit, but I’m thinking a small would have been fine.)

3 PAIRS OF SHORTS:  white denim shorts (True to size, I have a 4.)/ denim shorts (True to size, I have a 4.)/ khaki shorts (True to size, I have a 4R.)  Also, when talking about shoes, I’ve never loved Tory Burch Miller sandals for myself (I don’t like showing so much of my toes! ha!), I know lots of you LOVE AND ADORE THEM.  And this pair of embroidered sandals is NOW ON SALE!

The Mix and Match Outfit Combinations

So here are the 9 outfits I created in about 10 minutes.  Look how beautifully all of the pieces mix and match with each other to create entirely new looks.

Outfit Combinations Group 1

So now we are going to take a closer look at all of the outfits in smaller groups of 3.  You’ll notice that the earrings and the shorts stay in the same place….I just move around the tops, necklaces, and shoes to create different looks.

Besides the flutter sleeve embroidered top and the khaki shorts, all of these pieces are ones that you’ve seen on the blog before.  The flutter sleeve top caught my eye in store, and I’ve had a large number of requests for a great pair of khaki shorts, so I ordered several to try and these were the clear winners.  They have fantastic reviews and they come in olive, white, black, and grey as well!

These khaki shorts are true to size, they have a 5 1/2″ inseam, and they are just a wonderful classic khaki short.
