Memories with Dad (and Gifts for Father’s Day)!

One of Chris’s and Carter’s favorite activities to do together is fishing.  Both boys LOVE fishing.  (And both boys love spending time with each other while they are fishing.)  They of course fish together all the time when at the ranch, but they’ve also found some spots around McKinney that they enjoy.

I tagged along last weekend so I could grab some pics on one of their most recent local fishing trips.  And when I say local, I mean like 5 minutes from our home.

Let’s talk about Carter’s fishing outfit first.

Carter loves wearing Magellan long sleeve fishing shirts because they keep him cool, and I love them because they provide good coverage. This shirt is made of 100% polyester interlock that provides UPF 30+ protection against harmful UV rays! Chris generally couldn’t care less about his clothes, but clothes when fishing are more about function, and Chris is always about function.

His number one priority is staying as cool as possible, and he also insists on polarized sunglasses when around water.

When talking about fishing, you know that the gear is important.

YETI coolers are definitely pricey, BUT THEY ARE DEFINITELY WORTH IT.  This size can hold 8 beverages and ice, or less beverages and food too. Chris has had it for almost 2 years now, and he’s had no issues with it.  The zipper still functions perfectly (often an issue with coolers), and it’s in great shape.

The bigger YETI coolers are great too (and totally serve a purpose), but he loves that this one is light and easy to carry (even when filled).  We take it to neighbor’s homes, soccer games, and they obviously take it fishing.

These two.  Their relationship is so sweet.  They goof around like crazy…

And right now they are the best of friends.  I pray they always stay close.  Chris is really the perfect mix of friend and dad to Carter.  Carter absolutely loves spending time with Chris, and I’m hoping that never changes.

And here’s the deal…

Not all fishing trips end with fish, while on other trips they catch one every single time they throw their lure in the water.

But of course while actually catching fish is extra fun, it’s not what their trips are really about.  I love that they have something that they enjoy doing together that provides them with good quality time.

 

Making memories is what it is all about!
