I had fun shopping the site last week because I wanted to grab a handful of items to feature. And y’all. I found some really great stuff (some on sale, some not quite yet).
This top and these shorts are BOTH ON SALE!
This long sleeve tunic top is easy, breezy, and fabulous. It’s a lightweight linen blend and classic J. Crew. It is low cut and a tiny bit sheer, so don’t plan on wearing to work unless it’s with a cami. Now let’s talk sizing. I would say that you should definitely size down 1 size and maybe even consider sizing down 2 sizes. I’m in a small here, but I’m actually going to return it for an x-small (feeling confident that it will still be roomy). I think the black is so chic, but it also comes in a pale pink, ivory, and navy. You can see on the site how the lighter colors are quite sheer.
AND Y’ALL. These shorts!!! First, let’s talk about the color. I’m wearing the “crimson cinders” here and think the color is so vibrant and fun! They also come in white, a sandy neutral, and an olive green. Based on other reviews I sized up to a 28, and I’m glad I did. In fact, I feel like I might could even do a 29. They are on the shorter side, so I feel like another size up would give me a little extra room in the waist and a little extra length.

I have a couple of smocked maxi dresses in my closet already, but I didn’t have a solid black one UNTIL NOW.
This smocked maxi dress is ON SALE and such a great closet staple. It’s incredibly flattering and can easily be dressed up or down. It has spaghetti straps, but they are removable, and it looks great worn strapless as well.
I’m wearing a small here (I knew it would be forgiving because of the smocking), so I would suggest sizing down (I’m typically a medium).

This linen boatneck top is light, it’s airy, and it’s perfect for spring and summer. I love the boatneck and the boxy fit, and you know I love the color. I’ll be wearing this top with regular denim, with white denim, with cream denim, and hopefully with an array of drawstring shorts (both solids and patterns).
These navy floral shorts are adorable and now on sale. They have a wide elastic waistband and are obviously incredible comfortable. I love the playful navy floral print, but you can click HERE to see all of the other colors and patterns available. I think they look great paired with this bright top, but I’ve also ordered this lightweight white crewneck beach sweater to style them with for a super casual vibe.

I also wanted to style this blouse with the J. Crew famous linen pants. I’m wearing the “flax” and think they are a perfect neutral, but them come in 9 color options.
Now… I’m not sure if I’m supposed to say this…. but a little birdie told me that these pants are going to go on flash sale on Sunday and Monday… so if you are interested in these pants, you might want to wait just a bit.
I’m wearing the petite medium, but they are a little roomier than I’d like them to be. I actually think I’m going to exchange them for a regular small (I’m 5’4″ with long legs and no torso). I would like them to be a little slimmer and a little longer.

I think you can see here that these two pieces paired together look a little too roomy (and maybe even a little sloppy)? I hope that by sizing down to an xs in the top and a regular small in the pants the entire outfit will look a bit more streamlined.

SOME SOCIAL THREADS RESTOCKS
This layered crew pullover is a perfect basic and it’s BACK IN STOCK. I wear it allllllll the time. It’s also now available in a new soft pink, but it’s going fast (only 1 size remaining). HURRY!
It’s incredibly comfy and soft. I’m wearing the “light moss” here, but it also comes in clay (a really pretty neutral), butter yellow, and navy. The sweatshirt is super soft and the little crewneck that is peeking out from the neck and the hem really elevate this sweatshirt and will instantly help you look pulled together. I’m in a medium, and it’s a perfectly relaxed fit and roomy fit. A small would definitely fit, but I like the oversized look of the medium. If you don’t want it quite so oversized, size down. It has 44 reviews, and almost every single one of them is 5 STARS,

AVARA SUMMER DROP
Avara had a HUGE SUMMER DROP earlier this week!
As an OU graduate, this red striped collared top was an absolute no brainer for me! It’s lightweight, has a relaxed fit, and the collar and sleeves are a little bit extra (which I love). It looks great worn out as well as with a 1/2 tuck. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. If between sizes, definitely size down.
These denim shorts aren’t from Avara (they’re from Nordstrom), but they’re soooooooo good. I’m telling you, they are THE denim shorts many of you have been looking for. I’m guessing they will probably be sold out by the time summer rolls around, so you need to grab them now. They have a 6″ inseam, so they provide a good amount of length, but I don’t feel matronly in them at all! I feel covered, but cute. Basically I still feel like a cool and hip mom, while still managing to stay totally age appropriate. They are a slim cut (which makes them flattering), but I love the roominess of the leg opening. I’m wearing my regular size 4.

It looks great with cream denim too…
These wide leg cream jeans are adorable and so on trend. But although they’re called “cream”, they don’t lean yellow like many creams do, so I think of them more like an ecru. They’re just a perfect neutral. They’ve got a great amount of stretch, but they still manage to maintain their shape. And although they are definitely a wide leg, I think they are still quite flattering. For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4.

This embroidered top combines Kelly green with pink, and I was immediately drawn to it. Just like the site says, it’s fresh and feminine! The sleeves have a little bit of volume, and I like that they go down almost to the elbow. For size reference, I’m wearing a small, but I need a medium. The small is too tight across the chest.

Well, ladies. It’s my favorite green again! This top has an all over eyelet embroidery that is adorable. Be aware that the eyelet is open and the top isn’t lined, but I still don’t feel like I need to wear a cami under it. And the elastic banded hem with the little ruffle trim makes this top extra special. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

NEW GLASS CONTAINERS
I told y’all last Friday that I had bought new glass storage containers (and shared my happiness about it with y’all), but I hadn’t yet thrown away all my plastic containers.
WELL. I threw them all out on Wednesday, and I’ve gotta tell ya I FEEL INCREDIBLY ACCOMPLISHED AND LIKE THE BEST MOM AND WIFE EVER.
My Tupperware was ROUGH, so it was time.
I know there’s still a lot of other plastics to get rid of, but I do feel really great that we are now storing our leftovers and heating them up in glass vs. plastic. I can’t believe alllll the years we were storing and heating things up in those old plastic things, but it feels really really good to have made the change!
I put this on Facebook, but it’s like that meme that you see that starts out with….
One day you’re running through a field with a bottle of Boone’s Farm…
This is apparently how it ends for me…
and the next thing you know you are absolutely GIDDY about the deal you scored on your new glass storage containers.

The happiness this picture brings me is completely over the top, but I don’t even care that I sound crazy. 😉 And here’s the deal, it only took me about 10 minutes to throw all of the old containers away, take the new containers out of the box, and place them in their new home. And that 10 minutes has brought me so much JOY.
Doing this has inspired me, and I told Chris that every week for the next two months I’m going to go through one or two kitchen cabinets, throw away (or donate things) we no longer use, wipe down the shelves, and then reorganize each cabinet with the items that remain. I’m going to do it every Tuesday since the trash comes on Wednesday. Tackling the kitchen like this is going to be super do-able… and I’m going to be THRILLED when the entire kitchen is done.
I know I heard from some of you that you bought two sets of the above, but my small family doesn’t need that many containers.
I did however realize that I wanted a handful of larger glass containers for when I’m storing things like chili, large amounts of taco meat, leftover roast, etc.
So I grabbed this set yesterday. I think it will complete the cabinet nicely. 🙂
