SNOW DAYS

Last week the kids missed Thursday and Friday of school due to snow and ice. We stayed cozy inside on Thursday, but Friday Carter hit a local hill with some friends and lots of sleds! These boys had a blast!

These two love each other so much. This is where you’ll find them every single night after Chris sits down on the couch. Right on top of him and each other.

FABULOUS LEATHER TOTE

Okay, Ladies! Listen up! I have a find that I’m soooooo excited about!

I have no idea how I ran across this leather tote, but I’m so glad I did.

It’s GORGEOUS, the quality is incredible, and it’s ONLY $99.99. And get this, you can find it on Amazon!

Mine is the “brown”, but it comes in 7 colors total including a classic and totally chic black.

So what is so great about this bag?

• The tote is made of 100% genuine leather and all the hardware has been reinforced.
• Each bag is a totally natural and handmade product, therefore there may be some variations in color, texture and surface to different batches of leather material, which will create a wonderfully unique effect.
• With the passage of time and extended use, the leather will become softer and the patina will become smoother and brighter.

I absolutely LOVE the look of a well-loved bag. It’s important to realize that because it is real leather, the distinctive features of the surface will have pores, wrinkles, scars and uneven color, showing a retro and distressed style. I think that’s what gives a bag it’s charm and makes it look high end.

This bag also has a rectangular insert on the bottom which helps it hold its shape and not sag when it’s full. I really prefer a bag with a hard bottom, especially if I’m going to carry my laptop in it.

I have a bag very similar to this (from a boutique brand) that’s over twice the price at $250. And although that bag is gorgeous too, it’s more floppy, and I happen to really appreciate the structure of this bag.

The lighting is messing with the picture below (the true color is deeper and richer like in the pics above), but I still wanted to show it because I wanted you to see the insert. I love how the insert can hold just about everything you need to carry in a tote, but it keeps the inside of the bag looking nice and organized.

It’s awesome how the tote holds my 15″ laptop nicely, and it still leaves room for my other essentials.

TRY ON SESSION

See this outfit? This outfit is SO ME.

I’m wearing my MUST HAVE leggings, my favorite Zella tee, the best slip-on sneakers (that I’ve owned for a couple of years now), and a new and updated Kut denim jacket. I LOVE THIS OUTFIT AND KNOW I WILL WEAR IT ON REPEAT, OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

If y’all have been around since the beginning, you might remember I named a Kut denim jacket a MUST HAVE way back in 2012 I think. It was the 2nd or 3rd must have I ever named on the blog. I still wear that jacket, but I thought it was time for a bit of an update.

This denim jacket is longer and a much more relaxed fit. I love the updated look!

For size reference: I’m wearing a medium in the tee, a medium in the jacket, and a small in the leggings. The sneakers are true to size.

I’m wearing a pair of girlfriend jeans from last year in all of the pics below because I mistakenly thought there had been a restock. Sadly, I was wrong. Sorry there aren’t many pairs left, but if your size is available (I would suggest sizing down), I would grab them.

This v-neck sweater is very soft, comes in tons of color choices, and has near perfect reviews. I show tons of crewneck sweaters, but I have a harder time finding v-neck options I like, so I was thrilled to find this one. It does have a bit of a batwing design, and it is more fitted through the tummy area than the chest. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

I LOVE THIS SWEATER! It’s sooooo cute, I would even consider buying it in multiple colors (it also comes in yellow and blue). It’s very soft, I LOVE the ombre look, and the puff sleeves are adorable! The colors are gorgeous, and I love the little pleats on the subtle puff sleeve. It does run a bit on the small side, I’m wearing a medium.

Y’all know I love a sweatshirt, and this lace up sweatshirt is super cute with all sorts of extra style! The stripes are fab, and the lace up detailing makes it special. I would say it runs on the narrow side. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

This sweater from LOFT spoke to me. I’ve ordered it, but it hasn’t arrived yet. The stripes, the stand-up collar, the zipper, the length, the fit. I LOVE IT ALL.

The colors on this striped sweater are so sweet, and it’s a perfect spring sweater because of the colors and the weight. It will be great with white denim as well. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

I can’t believe that I’m showing you this heart sweatshirt again, but here we are. The first two times I showed it with leggings, but I wore it to the dentist earlier this week with jeans. I like it with both, although it really is made for leggings. I sized up to a large in this sweatshirt to make sure it would be long enough for leggings. If I was only going to wear this with jeans, I would prefer the fit of the medium.

Also, although hard to see in the above pictures, I’m wearing the same earrings and the same necklace in all of the outfit pics in today’s try on session. Here’s a close up of the jewelry! Of course these pieces are seasonally appropriate, but they are pieces I will definitely wear all year long.

Now this is my version of Valentine’s Day lingerie. 😉 You too?

I’m a huge fan of the Nordstrom pajamas (both the long ones and the short ones). I’ve purchased several pairs over the last 10 years, and I couldn’t resist adding this new vibrant pink to my collection. There are a couple of complaints about pilling on the site, but none of mine have ever pilled. The Nordstrom return policy is so awesome, that even if you wash them and they pill, Nordstrom will still take them back.

For size reference, I’m wearing a small. I normally size up in pajamas, but I don’t need to in these. They are soooooooooooooo soft and they sleep really cool, which is great for those of you that sleep hot.

I continue to be obsessed with my happy face slippers.

And if you think my slippers are cute, look how darling they are in the kid size version! Some girlfriends and I sent this pair to Ashby for her to have after her latest surgery recovery. Isn’t she the cutest!

AMAZON HOME

I’ve had several inquiries lately for more home content on my Amazon posts! I’m going to start making an effort to order more home items to review for y’all, but I thought I would start out by highlighting items I already own. Like this rug!

We have a tiny little hallway that connects our entryway to the hall bath, the laundry room (on the left), the garage (door directly in front), and Chris’s study (down another short hallway on the right). My rug is the 3×5 in “light blue/ivory”. There’s no natural light in this hallway, so I think the picture of the rug on the site is a good representation of the true colors.

The botanical prints you see on the wall are at least 10 years old. They were from a boutique in Dallas, and if I remember correctly they were quite pricey. Amazon actually has a really wonderful selection of botanical prints you can find HERE. Mine are a large size, but a bigger collection in a smaller size would look great on this wall as well. I would love this set popped in frames. This set is beautiful too and looks very much like something you would see in a Ballard Designs catalog to me. Oh wait! I found some that are already framed HERE.

This peony arrangement has excellent reviews, but I’m still on the fence. It would be great on a shelf mixed in with some other items, but I don’t love it by itself like this in the dining room. It is very pretty, I just need to find a space that is better suited for it.

I also got a new wreath for spring! This peony wreath is 24″ and gorgeous.

I love the peonies, the berries, and the varying sizes of the flowers. And the colors are gorgeous. It’s just so pretty!

OTHER AMAZON HOME ITEMS I OWN OR HAVE RECNETLY ORDERED:

I grabbed this NEST diffuser over Christmas and I’m obsessed. I tried the Pura diffusers, but I like this one better.

I’ve ordered this faux plant to put in a decorative tin bowl in my butler’s pantry! It has EXCELLENT ratings. I’ll be sure to show it next week.

I also ordered this trio of tan/grey/taupe kitchen towels. Can’t wait to get them! A new kitchen towel makes me want to clean the entire house and light a candle. Just me?

DREAMING OF VACATION

I’m not sure what went wrong with this collage, but I’m so disappointed that it came out blurry. I decided to share it anyway because you NEED to know about these items!!! EVERYTHING in this collage is under $75, most items are under $50, and some are under $25! WOW!

VINTAGE WASH STRAIGHT LEG JEANS

THE JEANS ARE BACK, Y’ALL!

Do y’all see these jeans?  They are FANTASTIC and they are ONLY $69!!!

I’m wearing my regular size 27, but they strongly suggest sizing down 1 size.  I read a lot of the reviews left on the site, and it does seem as if just about everybody needed to size down. My stomach is my problem area, so maybe that’s why I stuck with my regular size. I suggest taking the advice to size down.

They are described as mid-rise on the site, but since I have a non-existent torso, they fit like high rise jeans on me. They are very stretchy, but they don’t sag…. and they are super comfortable. They are straight leg with some distressing, AND I LOVE THEM.

They are very on trend and super affordable, which is a great little combo.

You can see below that they look great with heels, but I’ll most often be wearing them with sneakers, mules, flats, and booties.
