CHRISTMAS WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY
We had a simple Christmas at home this year because both mine and Chris’s sisters were out of town with their husband’s families, so it was just us with the grandparents. It was simple, but wonderful.
The festivities started on Christmas Eve. We’ve been attending a new church since this summer, and we absolutely love that Carter has so many friends there. I love these boys so much and am so grateful for their friendships with Carter.
The Christmas Eve service was absolutely incredible, and then we came back to our house for Carter to cook steaks for all the grandparents. He did an excellent job!
Christmas Day all the grandparents came back over. We opened presents and had a casual lunch with chili, tamales, and cheese enchiladas! #yum
Speaking of yummy food, I think I’ve mentioned this once already before, but I’m obsessed with CAVA. I’ve only been twice actually, but I would like to still stand by the fact that I’m obsessed. I’ll be going again next week for sure. #andtheweekafterthat
They have curated bowls that you can order, but you can also build your own. Think of it as a Mediterranean Chipotle. My bowl here has saffron rice, lentils, honey chicken, white sweet potatoes, a variety of sauces (roasted red pepper hummus, tzatziki, and honey feta), and a smattering of their garnishes. I like tons of the tomato and onion salad, cucumber, Greek olives, corn salsa, and the crispy pita strips all piled on top. I then combine their green and white dressing combo (they say it’s a popular combo, but I don’t know what either dressing is called). I actually love EVERYTHING about this bowl, except next time I will make it a vegetarian bowl and just get an entire portion of the white sweet potatoes instead of getting 1/2 chicken and 1/2 potatoes. The chicken is fine, but the white sweet potatoes are next level.
It’s usually served in a bowl, but they were out of bowls, so it was served on this serving plate.
SO FRESH. SO DELICIOUS. SO PRETTY!
LET’S GET ORGANIZED
I’m craving organization right now, are y’all?
At this time of year, I always come down with the GET ORGANIZED bug. I typically tackle 2-3 spaces, and then I run out of inspiration, but I’ve already reorganized the entire pantry so I feel like I’m on a roll. I ordered stuff from Amazon on Monday, it all got here Tuesday, and I organized everything Tuesday night. Y’ALL. It took several hours (LIKE 5), but it was 1000% worth it. I’ll share pictures next week, but I had to hop back on and order a couple of more things before I consider it done.
I ordered #4 for all of my sauce and taco seasoning packets, #5 is PERFECT for all of our foils and snack bags, #6 is just what we needed for all of our protein bars and granola bars, and I used all 8 of the plastic bins that came in the #7 set for various items. I was super excited about the can organizer below, but it ended up not working out. I ordered it, took like 30 minutes to put it together, and only then did I realize it was too tall for my shelves. So, I hopped back on and ordered these stands for my canned goods, and they ended up being perfect.
1) 6-piece airtight food storage container set / 2) XL wire basket set / 3) chalkboard labels / 4) packet organizers / 5) box organizer / 6) turntable and snack organizer / 7) clear plastic bins (set of 8) / 8) can organizer
Or maybe you need some items to get your closets and bathroom counters organized? I found a lot of amazing things that will get you ready to go for the new year. The 360 spinning makeup organizer is one of my favorite Amazon purchases EVER and I’ve talked about it countless times. The shelves are adjustable, and it holds more products that you can even imagine. I also have #5, #6, #7, and #10.
1) wooden jewelry organizer / 2) stackable jewelry tray organizers / 3) 360 spinning makeup organizer / 4) sweater storage containers / 5) velvet hangers / 6) bag organizer / 7) adjustable closet hanging rod / 8) x-large storage basket / 9) shoe storage / 10) shelf dividers
I first introduced these jeans to you last month sometime, but for some reason this past week I’ve received COUNTLESS messages from readers saying they got the jeans and LOVE THEM. Some real-life friends have texted me too! Here are just a couple of the messages.
Well, I listened to you again, and I have my favorite pair of jeans EVER. I love that they aren’t skinny, but they aren’t baggy either, and I feel like they are both comfy and incredibly flattering. THANK YOU, SHEAFFER! It’s rare I find a pair of jeans I love…and to find a pair I love for under $40 is a Christmas miracle of sorts! Thanks again for telling me to! – Sam
Sheaffer, I’m forever indebted to you for finding these jeans. I love them, and my hubby even commented on how great I look in them. And then I met my sister for lunch, and she commented too! I love them so much that I’m going to style them with a sparkly top and heels for New Year’s Eve! Great Amazon find! – Nicole
These girlfriend jeans are from Amazon!!! They are stretchy (so super comfy) and have a nice straight leg instead of a skinny leg, so they are totally on trend. They’ve got some moderate distressing, but there isn’t a ton of skin peeking through (and I prefer it that way).
I’m wearing the “A1 Ska Blue” but the darker “A Blue” is also great! I’m thinking of ordering the black ones to try as well. A lot of the other jeans on this link have material under the distressing, so make sure you realize that before you decide on what pair to order.
Okay, let’s talk sizing. They aren’t sized like traditional jeans. You choose from small, large, medium, large, and x-large. I chose medium because I couldn’t imagine being the smallest size, but I think I should have actually gone for the small. This means that those of you that are typically under a 4 probably won’t be able to wear these jeans because even the smalls will be too big.
I received Nicole’s comment (seen above) on Wednesday night, and it immediately inspired me to style a New Year’s Eve outfit with all Amazon pieces. I shared the collage on Facebook right after I created it, because I knew some of you would still be able to get the items in time. Even though it’s too late to order them for New Year’s Eve today, I thought the below could at least serve as some outfit inspiration for you!
I bought these makeup brushes back in April of 2019, but I don’t think I’ve ever talked about them and I have no idea why because THEY. ARE. AWESOME. Look at those reviews. And the price point is insane.
I had a reader leave this comment on my facebook post: I purchased these brushes last year and would buy again. They hold up great. Even with all the washing, I never have bristles falling out. – Amy
Thanks for the feedback, Amy! And I totally agree! I would spend 5x the price for these brushes and still be pleased!

GIRLFRIEND JEANS BACK IN STOCK
Y’all! I’m freaking out! I don’t know when it happened, but the much beloved and highly sought-after girlfriend jeans are BACK IN STOCK!
I’m telling you, you need these jeans in your closet all year round, but especially for spring, summer, and early fall.
The jeans are super stretchy, soft as can be, crazy comfy, and I love the vibe for those of you that want to add a non-skinny jean option to your closet.
I was so happy to add these to my closet last spring. I’m wearing a 4 here (which is my regular size), but I do wonder if I should size down. I think I could take the 2, but I know they are supposed to be a slouchy and relaxed look, so I’m just going to keep the 4. (If you size down often, definitely go ahead and size down.) As a general rule, most people size down in Wit and Wisdom.
Here’s a mirror selfie with the jeans….
I have received at least 50 messages since Saturday about the lululemon sale. I shared on facebook that I had never even tried lulu, and some messages were saying that they’ve never tried lulu either…but the overwhelming majority of messages from people were saying that they were SHOCKED AND APPALED that I haven’t at least tried the brand! So, I placed an order earlier this week and will of course share my thoughts once my pieces came in.
And then later in the week I saw these 2 jackets that were NEW TO SALE. SO FREAKING CUTE!
I added this collage to Monday’s post on Monday afternoon, so I’m reposting it again here for those that went to the blog in the morning and missed the collage…
I’m a bit concerned about sizing and the fact that most of the items are final sale, but I’m giving a couple of things a try! I’m most excited about the undies and the vest!
WEEK IN REVIEW
SALE ALERTS! SALE ALERTS! SALE ALERTS! SALE ALERTS! SALE ALERTS!
I scoured the pages of Nordstrom earlier this week, and I picked what I think are the best of the best deals right now! The red bomber jacket is DARLING and 40% OFF (it’s oversized, I have a small and there’s till lots of room). The eyeliner sticks from Bobbi Brown are my favorite and I love the colors in this set. The shape of this UGG wrap cardi reminds me very much of the original blardigan, and this one is a total steal at 40% OFF. I ordered the sleep shirt in grey for myself and can’t wait to get it! I own this tunic sweater in green and love pairing it with my Spanx faux leather leggings. These 7/8 leggings are an oldie, but goodie. #highlyrecommend
COLLEEN ROTHSCHILD SALE
Colleen Rothschild has a HUGE SALE going down right now. The more you buy, the more you save! If you buy at least 3 items, you can get 25% OFF…so I put my current 5 favorites on the collage below.
The cleansing balm is my #1 HOLY GRAIL product that I absolutely cannot live without. I’m telling you, it will become a holy grail product for you too. NOTHING compares. It melts your makeup away, it is so gentle on your skin, and it is incredibly hydrating. After I cleanse my face with the balm, I use the glycolic acid peel pads all over my face and neck. I have noticed a marked difference in the overall brightness of my face since I started using these pads a couple of years ago. The texture of my skin has improved as well! These pads target fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and other imperfections as well.
The micro mineral resurfacing scrub is my favorite mask to use. Whenever my skin is feeling dull or lackluster, I use this scrub to wake up my face and really brighten it right on up. After using it, my skin is SO SOFT and it truly does look more healthy. The face oil #9 used to be too much for my skin, but now I can’t imagine not using it. I put a pump or two in my hand with my moisturizer and apply it all over my face and neck. It hydrates like nothing else I’ve ever used. My skin absolutely drinks it up. I have the hair travel essentials in the collage, but only because the full-size conditioning balm and the hair serum are sold out right now and this will set allow you to try them both. I love all the hair products (except for the shampoo…I don’t really love it), but this kit would give you a chance to try both as well as the styling cream.
That’s all for today, ladies! Have a wonderful weekend with your people!
