CHRISTMAS SWEATSHIRT AND A TEE

Let’s kick things off with this adorable Merry Christmas sweatshirt!  Obviously perfect for the season.  Wear it running around town, to your kid’s Christmas party, or just running around town.

Now, let me say this.  This sweatshirt looks quite a bit different than I was expecting.  You’ll see that on the link, it looks a little more like a washed red, and the sweatshirt has almost a vintage look to it which I loved online. I was initially disappointed when I opened up the box and saw this one (bright red and doesn’t look vintage-y at all), but then I realized it’s still cute, just different than I thought it was going to be.  For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

3 DENIM FAVORITES

I get questions about my favorite jeans all the time.  New readers especially are always asking what I recommend.  Almost always my current favorites are from Wit and Wisdom.  It’s the brand I go back to again and again.  You just can’t beat the comfort, the stretch, and the flattering fit.

I’ve had several different favorite pairs over the years, but right now I have 3 pairs that I keep rotating between.  2 pairs are from Wit and Wisdom and 1 pair is from Amazon!

These raw hem straight legged jeans initially sold out a couple of months ago, so I was thrilled when they got a huge restock.  They’ve got the Ab-Solution technology (praise!), but they are more of a straight legged fit than a skinny fit. They are super on trend. I love the ankle length and the tiny little split on the side and the subtle raw hem.  At 5’4″, I’m wearing my regular size 4 (although most size down), and they come in petite too.  I wear these with mules, booties, and sneakers.

These girlfriend jeans are from Amazon!!!  They are stretchy (so super comfy) and have a nice straight leg instead of a skinny leg, so they are totally on trend.  They’ve got some moderate distressing, but there isn’t a ton of skin peeking through (and I prefer it that way).

I’m wearing the “A1 Ska Blue” but the darker “A Blue” is also great!  A lot of the other jeans on this link have material under the distressing, so make sure you realize that before you decide on what pair to order.

Okay, let’s talk sizing.  They aren’t sized like traditional jeans.  You choose from small, large, medium, large, and x-large.  I chose medium because I couldn’t imagine being the smallest size, but I think I should have actually gone for the small.  This means that those of you that are typically under a 4 probably won’t be able to wear these jeans because even the smalls will be too big.  The reviews are mixed on these, but I like them!

I continue to be obsessed with these jagged hem slim jeans, and y’all agree!  I’m getting so much great feedback from y’all, which thrills me. These are actually the ones that you’ve seen on the blog the most because I think they photograph the best. They are the closest to a true skinny jean, but they are a bit more modern with the ankle length and jagged hem.

These also have the beloved Ab-Solution technology. #praisehands They are super stretchy, they suck you in in all the right places, and they are crazy flattering.  I’m wearing my regular size 4, but most people size down in Wit and Wisdom jeans because of the stretch.

TUNIC SIDE BY SIDE

I received a question from a reader (Shout Out, Jessica!) asking me the differences between the Amazon sweater I’m always showing and the Free People sweater she’s always seeing on other bloggers.  Jessica’s question follows…

Hi, Sheaffer!  I’m a long-time reader and have so many things that you’ve recommended. I have 2 of those swing sweaters you talk about all the time from Amazon, but I’ve been thinking about getting the Free People tunic sweater I see so many other bloggers rave about.  Do you have the Free People one?  Which do you like better?  I really want the Free People one, but it’s so much more expensive, so I don’t know if it’s worth it.  Help!  – Jessica

JESSICA!  This is a great question!  So first, let’s take a look at the Amazon swing sweater that you already have…

As you know, it’s super soft and super swingy.  It’s got a batwing design (as you can see in the picture below on the right), and it’s a bit higher in the front that it is in the back.  For size reference, I’m wearing a small and it’s a super relaxed fit.

Here’s a look at the Free People sweater you are wondering about!  This sweater has more structure, it’s not as soft and relaxed, and the sleeves are definitely more fitted (without a batwing design).  It’s hard to tell in my picture, but you can tell more easily on the Nordstrom site that the neck is more generously cut and resembles more of a modified and slouchy boatneck than a turtleneck.  It’s still oversized and great for leggings.

So really, it’s just your preference!

I would tell you to go ahead and order it if you are curious!  Nordstrom returns are free and so easy (they provide you a return label) that there is literally no risk.

They don’t look that much different in the pictures, but in real life, the feel and fit is definitely different.  There are pros and cons to each.

But listen, both would be perfect to wear on Christmas day.

THANKSGIVING AT THE RANCH

We spent Thanksgiving at the ranch with Chris’s family, and Chris’s sister’s family came in town as well (from California).  Here’s Carter with Eliah!  They are so cute together.  Don’t worry, they weren’t riding on this 4-wheeler like this.  Just posing for a picture INSIDE the shop.

It was perfect campfire weather.

Carter and Carson have been the best of buds since they were born.  Carson is 7 months older than Carter and they are tight.  Carter’s paternal grandfather and Carson’s paternal grandfather are cousins, so I guess that makes these two 3rd cousins?  You’ve seen countless pics of this pair hanging at the ranch together over the years.

In fact, the second I took the above pic last week, we thought about the picture below taken about 10 years ago.  Not much has changed. Haha!

FAVORITE THINGS PARTY

Earlier this week was Shay’s annual Favorite Things Party.  It’s one of my favorite nights of the year! And actually it’s not just a Favorite Things party, it’s a recipe exchange too.  Not only do we bring 8 of our favorite things to share with everybody, we also bring a dish and send Shay the recipe so she can make a little recipe book for us.  The last several years we’ve worn pajamas, and I hope we ALWAYS wear pajamas.  There’s no better way to attend a party than in pajamas.

SANTA ALERTS

Y’all are continuing to love the SANTA ALERTS, so I’m going to continue to share them!  They’re kind of all over the place today, but things I’ve purchased for people on my list this year!

I have this Tyler Glamorous Gift Set and love it.  It has 3 different scents of mini laundry detergents and 3 different candle scents and votives.  Now, I think these detergents are way too strong to use the full amount, so I use my regular unscented detergent with just a splash of one of the Tyler detergents.

I grabbed this men’s travel toiletry bag for one of the guys on my list.  I know he’s going to be pumped.

Carter wore his football gloves out this year, so these new football gloves will be under the tree!
