code: FALLSTYLE
So I’m sure you all know this by now, but….
Bless it. Scream it. Sing it. Preach it.
FLARES ARE BACK BABY!
And now they are 40% OFF! 🙂
Here’s the deal.
I didn’t even know I was ready for a new style of jeans….
but then I slipped a pair of flares on my body.
And OH. MY.
They made me look tall.
And skinny.
Which is pretty much the look I’m going for every day of my life.
Yep.
Tall and skinny is my fashion aesthetic.
🙂
Being almost 5’4″ doesn’t make this easy for me, but these flares really do help me along.
YAY FOR FLARES!
So I showed you a pair of flares about a month ago, but they sold out pretty dang fast, and they were junior’s sizing (which many of you didn’t love).
Well, now I have a pair to share with you that’s women’s sizing, they seem to be fully stocked, they come in 2 different washes, and they come in varying lengths (petite, regular, and tall).
So let’s just cut to the chase…
THESE jeans need to be in your closet immediately like yesterday. Especially now that they are on sale for $47.70!
Unless you prefer to not look tall and skinny. 😉
.
FLARE JEANS THAT WILL MAKE YOU LOOK TALLER AND SKINNIER (THAN YOU ALREADY LOOK)
(I often times size down in LOFT pants, but I didn’t in these.)
the line of our legs.
When the goal is a long and lean leg, adding height (even if it’s with a shoe) really helps the cause!
Here’s the pic again for you to study.
When wearing flare jeans, I personally feel this is exactly where you want your jeans to hit on your foot. You want a little bit of your shoe peeking out, but not too much. And they are too long if they are dragging the floor and covering your entire foot.
I really like the look of a long top with flares (again, I think it helps the “long and lean” cause) as seen here, but in a second I’ll show you them with a shirt tucked in as well.
dashed split neck tunic c/o LOFT
earrings / watch / similar height wedges / bag sold out
I couldn’t find any similar wedges that were still stocked, so I linked a pair of Michael Kors wedges I have (they come in cognac as well). These would be PERFECT for flares (and they are comfy)!
Just click on the pic you are interested in:
Since I fell in love with the LOFT flares, I was SUPER excited when LOFT reached out and asked if I would talk about fall fashion at LOFT and their new line of tote bags!
A HUGE THANK YOU to my neighbor Heather for taking these pics!
Here’s a close up of both the jeans and the tote for y’all!
We all know that what it probably should have said was bossy.

The tote is pretty small (it’s definitely meant for something small like books, flowers, or maybe produce…..it’s not an everyday bag), so I’m going to use it as a book tote for when I head to the library with the little fella. I actually have 3 dinosaur books in it in the picture.
#becauseheALWAYSpicksadinosaurbook
Also notice here that I tucked in here (as opposed to wearing a long tunic like I did int he first outfit pic today) and it looks great too!
And because it’s very fashion bloggery….and I’m fashion blogger-ish,,,
I did a little side by side and flip flopped the pic.
Look at me.
I’m a fashion blogger.
Ish.
I hope you noticed the the belt ladies! If you don’t have an animal print belt, fix that right now. I wear mine ALL YEAR LONG. but especially in the fall and winter months. The one I’ve been wearing for years is from LOFT and almost exactly like the one they are carrying this year. This year’s version is just a tad bit skinnier and with gold hardware. It’s a great belt. I wear it with solids, with plaids, with stripes, with everything.
this year’s belt on the left / my old belt on the right.
Here are some other great items at LOFT right now!
I think this blouse would also be so cute with skinny jeans and tall boots!
And again, the AWESOME necklace will be available on Friday, so make sure you come back to find out the deets (and maybe get a coupon code)! 😉
I loved the colors and pattern of this shirt. It’s quite a bit shorter in the back than the front, but I was still able to manage a little half tuck.
I couldn’t stand it any longer and went ahead and ordered this baby for myself! I tried it on at Northpark (am not sure why I didn’t get it immediately), and when I went to both Stonebriar and Watters Creek the next week to buy it, neither store carried it. Well, now it’s on it’s way to me!

For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
Thank you to LOFT for sponsoring this post!
If you haven’t ever checked out LOFT, or if it’s been awhile,
you really do need to give them a try!
Before the blog, LOFT was pretty much the only store I ever shopped, and I still go there frequently. I can always walk in a store or hop online and find something (let’s be honest…things) that I love. And they are always having awesome sales!
Remember, you can sign up for insider discounts and for your own tote (once they become
available) HERE. And if you want to check out your horoscope, click HERE!

I wanted to cry when boot cut and flare jeans when out of style. I would add a 3-4" boot with them and BAM!, I was 5'7"!!! You just made my Labor Day!
Erika Slaughter says
I can't wait to get my hands on a pair of flare jeans!! So glad they're back! Wahoo!

Hey Sheaffer! You are looking great in your new fall clothes! As I sit here 6.5 months pregnant in my blardigan (I will FOREVER be grateful to you for showing me the way of the blardigan!), I thought I would reach out to see if you had anywhere to direct me for maternity fashion? Well, specifically petite maternity fashion? (I know, I'm difficult!) This is my first and I've been able to get away with maxi dresses all summer, but it's getting cooler out and I literally do not own a pair of pants that fit me! Any help from anyone out there on favorites, where to shop, or must-have maternity items would be much appreciated!
Sheaffer says
Hi Michelle! Almost all of my maternity clothes were from LOFT….and GREAT NEWS…they have a petite maternity section! Now, it's only online (which is a little bit annoying), but they've got great stuff!!!!!!!! Cut and paste the following link into your browser: http://rstyle.me/n/9p9nppvje
Michelle S says
WHAAAAAAAT? LOFT? Maternity? PETITE?! This is such great news! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Laura says
I agree that LOFT has cute maternity clothes!! Just a heads up, though – since it is an "online only" (not sold in stores) line, they also do not accept returns of maternity clothes in store…so you have to pay so ship them back if they don't fit. I was so used to Gap and Nordstrom's generous free-return-shipping policies that I did not anticipate this unexpected cost (which I didn't think was very clearly advertised on LOFT's site). Their maternity clothes are great, but make sure you factor (potential) return shipping charges into your purchase decision. Just hoping to save another mama from being surprised! 🙂
Michelle S says
Thank you, Laura. That is really good to know! It's hard enough to find things in stores that fit this ever-changing body of mine, so I imagine I might have some returns. Now I'll know to factor in the extra cost!
Jessica Barshinger says
I've always loved flares! Whooo-hoooo!!!
marla slaughter says
I see you have one of those cute necklaces! Beads w/blue agate! The one that's not theirs? Hee hee! I need one more for a gift! Are they making these again?
Sheaffer says
Hi Marla!!!! I was telling Erika this whole story this weekend! Yes…it is theirs……they only had one it when you got it, and one of the owners had never even seen it. When I sent them your picture I told them they simply had to order more!!!!! I will have it on the blog on Friday…AND I WILL HAVE A CODE!!!!!! I'm so glad you sent me that picture!!!!!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

Hi Sheaffer! Love today's post! What size are you wearing in the anchor collarless softened shirt? I'm definitely getting those flares jeans. Thanks for all the great ideas!
Sheaffer says
It's a small, so it runs true to size! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Natalie says
Praise the Lord, flare jeans are back! ???? love your post today as always, Sheaffer!
melissa smith says
Love the jeans. How do they sit at the waist? I am so tired of 'low waist"!
Sheaffer says
Hi Melissa! These are definitely not low waisted. They are a good mid-rise (because I don't do well with high waisted either). Where they hit will depend on how long or short waisted you are, but these hit me just right below (almost at) my belly button. Scroll back up and see the pic with the anchor shirt tucked in with the leopard belt and that should give you a good idea! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Whitney @ Work it Mommy says
I knew I kept some flares tucked away in my dresser for a good reason, fashion always cycles back around. I just dont know if Im ready to quit my skinny jeans just yet (I feel like I was late embracing them, sigh) di-le-mas!
Sheaffer says
Whitney, don't retire your skinny jeans! Just add the flares to your closet as another option! I'll still be wearing my skinny jeans for sure! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Jordyn Upchurch says
That tote is super cute, I love it!

Hi Sheaffer. What kind of shoes are you wearing in the photo of you in the anchor collarless shirt? Wedges are cute for fall but once winter comes what do you suggest wearing?
Sheaffer says
They are a pair of wedge booties that are several years old….I will make a note to talk about shoe options for flares in an upcoming post! Xoxo, Sheaffer
Browsermum says
Great post! Love Loft but not their shipping. Free shipping on orders over $125!!!! Which world are they living in??!! Ridiculous!
Lisa Burris says
Sheaffer – have you ever thought of doing a post on what's available at the LOFT factory store or Ann Taylor? I LOVE shopping both of those places too – they are similar to LOFT with just a little different feel (Ann Taylor is a little more dressy and the factory store tends to be more casual). The factory store doesn't put anything online, so it makes it a little tough to keep up with what they have but I'd love to see what you think about some of their stuff too (and its such an awesome deal every time!).
Sheaffer says
Good idea for a post Lisa! I'll see if I can find a time for one!!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Narci says
So cute!!! I love the flight dress, and I totally need a pair of flare jeans!! Time to get shopping!! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Sheafffer! Those jeans! I mean…THOSE JEANS! You should wear them every single day. You should sleep in them. I mean…NEVER take them off. You look so stinkin' good in them!
Jill B says
I have to say, the LOFT clothes always look so much cuter on you than on their models. I love loft clothes, I actually used to work there years ago in college. Good picks today!
Sheaffer says
That is so nice Jill! Thanks for the sweet words! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
{Hi Sugarplum!} says
Those jeans are just too good on you! If I didn't know you, I'd say you're 5'9"! I need to get some of those supermodel-making jeans! You seriously flushed out all the great Loft stuff!! I need that dress, too!!

What's the difference between boot cut and flare? Can I still wear my skinny jeans? It took me years to find the perfect ones! Ack!
Sheaffer says
Flares are bigger at the bottom. And yes, you can TOTALLY wear your skinny jeans still, just add flares or a nice boot cut into the rotation!!!! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

I would also looooove for you to blog summaries of the Real Housewives. 🙂

I had to let you know that if you watch closely Carly does not cry any actual tears when Kirk broke up with her. I am quick to spot a fake cry and that was definitely one! It totally caught me off guard! Seriously, watch that part of the show again!
