It’s time for the 5th installment of Conner’s Closet!!! If you didn’t see the first post, Conner is my sister and she works in HR for a hospital system. Here she is with her little guy, Brody (3 years old).
I MEAN. HOW CUTE ARE THEY.
Conner always looks so polished and put together, and since I often receive requests for work wear ideas from y’all (but I don’t have the need for work wear), I had an idea to start a monthly series where Conner highlights business casual attire for us!
She’s got several amazing pieces to show y’all today, so let’s get started! Conner’s thoughts are in italics.
Blush Scallop Trim top and Gap Ankle Pants
Is it possible to wear a top too much? Maybe. But I don’t care. I would wear this one every day if I could without getting weird looks from my co-workers. This sweater is perfect for the winter to spring transition. The material is thick and fits beautifully. The scallop detail on the sleeves AND at the bottom of the sweater is to die for. The sweater has a “swing” effect to it, so I recommend wearing it with skinny black or gray ankle pants. I’m wearing it with my gray ankle pants from the Gap.
Pale pink and gray is one of my favorite combinations, but this top would obviously be great with black as well. I recommend wearing the sweater with this layering necklace (type Riad in the search bar). The necklace even has a pale pink stone to tie it all together. It’s like they were made for each other. Plus, you can wear this necklace 7 (yes 7!) different ways! I’m wearing my favorite nude Jessica Simpson Calie pumps, but will wear my black suede Sam Edelman pumps when I wear the sweater with black pants. I’m wearing an XXS in the sweater. The label says you can wash it, but this little beauty will be going to the dry cleaners!
scalloped top / pants / necklace (type in Riad) / nude heels / grace satchel c.o. GiGi New York (grey sold out, but still available in black and driftwood)
And here’s Conner in the outfit. This top is GORGEOUS. The detailing makes it look so expensive! Look at my baby sister. All grown up and looking so chic! I don’t know what it is about scallops, but they get me every dang time. #iheartscallops Also, a couple of people have inquired about Conner’s i phone case. It’s Rose Gold, and you can find it HERE (on sale)!

And if you want some nude shoe options, I’ve got some for you! Those are Conner’s shoes on the far left. If you are more of a flats girl, those are my favorite nude flats on the right.

Swing Skirt, Mock Neck Blouse, Blush Cropped Cardigan, Leopard Shoes
I wanted to get away from my classic pencil skirt look and try something different…and I’m so glad I did! How much fun is this outfit?!? This swing skirt fits perfectly. It is snug, so I was nervous about it showing a little tummy pudge, but the fabric is SO thick, so it hides all of those little imperfections. I’m wearing the white mock neck blouse and a blush cropped cardigan. Unfortunately, this blouse is sold out in white, but it will be easy to find a replacement (in fact, I found a great one HERE)! Important – if you wear a cardigan with this skirt, it HAS to be cropped. The skirt sits slightly above the waist and flares, so a normal length cardigan makes the outfit look frumpy. The cropped cardigan from Ann Taylor is perfect for this outfit (and there are tons to choose from HERE).
I love the blush, white, and black combination. But let’s be honest…it’s really the leopard print shoes that tie it all together. I’m pretty sure I remember a wise (or bossy) person saying, “Leopard print is a NEUTRAL!” Am I right?!? The leopard print shoes I’m wearing are by Steve Madden and over 5 years old, but here’s a similar shoe by Sam Edelman. And just fyi, they don’t have them in leopard at Nordstrom, but they do carry several colors.
I didn’t want to take away from the outfit, so I decided to wear my basic Kendra Scott Alex earrings. I’m wearing an XS in the skirt, an XXS in the blouse, and an XS in the cardigan. I have already washed and line dried the blouse and cardigan, but I’ll be taking the skirt to the dry cleaners. Oh! I almost forgot – YOU HAVE TO HANG THIS SKIRT INSIDE OUT. I REPEAT…HANG THIS SKIRT INSIDE OUT. If you don’t, your hanger will leave indentions in the waistband.
swing sweater skirt / similar blouse (I like this one even more!)/ blush cropped cardigan /earrings/ similar leopard heels / GiGi New York tote
And here’s Conner in it. It looks like something out of Mad Men, and I think it’s fun and different! That blush cardigan will be a work horse in her closet, and MY GOODNESS those leopard heels are SASSY! They keep the outfit from looking too sweet.

Since Conner’s exact top is sold out, I wanted to find some options for y’all. THIS top would make an awesome staple in a work wear wardrobe.
And check out THIS shirred neck halter blouse that comes in several colors. It has great reviews, and it’s ON SALE for 40% OFF! The neckline and pleated details are so pretty, and I love how the top drapes.

Circle Dress and Blush Cardigan
I loved this dress from the moment I saw it online. I knew it had to be mine. I love the circle print and the black band at the bottom. Plus, this is one of those outfits that you don’t have to put too much thought into – put on some simple earrings and you’re all done! I was nervous about what to wear over the dress because I knew a black cardigan would kill the look. Then I thought about the blush cardigan…YES! It’s a perfect match! Also, your cardigan has to be cropped for this dress. A longer cardigan will not work. Trust me – frumpy, frumpy, frumpy. I’m wearing my Sam Edelman black suede pumps and my Kendra Scott Alex earrings.
I’m wearing a 00 regular in the dress and an XS in the cardigan. The dress has to be dry cleaned, but I’ll only take it to the cleaners every other wear.

And because it’s too cute not to share.
WORK. IT. BRODY. 😉
Look at his hands on his hips! LOOK AT THE HIP POP!
Thank you, Conner! We love that you share all of your gorgeous finds (and thoughts about those finds) with us! Have a great Monday everybody!
Oh, wait! A couple more things before you go. Check out THESE darling fringe booties! 40% OFF!
Also..
Awhile ago, I had a reader e-mail me and ask me for a recommendation for a pair of grown up camo pants (that weren’t junior’s sizing). 🙂 I recommended these, but lots of you were bummed when they sold out so quickly. Well…THEY ARE BACK and FULLY STOCKED! They are stretchy and comfy (they are Wit and Wisdom after all!), and they can be worn all year long! If you don’t have the jacket yet, I’m not sure we can be friends anymore.
I’m wearing a 4 in the pants, but might could have sized down to a 2. I’m not keeping these (because I already have 2 pair), but these are a great option for y’all! I’m wearing a small in the jacket (true to size), but it’s quite fitted. I recommend sizing up in the jacket if you’d like a little more room!
camo pants /tee sold out/ must have denim jacket / necklace (type in Genevieve) / glitter stud earrings / wedge booties
As you can see, at 5’4″, I had to cuff the pants a couple of times for them to be short enough to wear with booties.
Okay, you are now free to go. 😉

Annie says
Hello!
Love all your outfits! The camo pants you have on look like a different color sort of grayish are they the same ones? Love your blog!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Annie! Sometimes the light plays tricks, but they are definitely the same pants! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
VBJ says
Love Conner! She is ADORABLE. Sadly, I am not an XS or 00. It is hard for me to relate because so many of the clothes would not look like that on me. Do you have any suggestions for us full figure girls? Cutting and pasting from Nordstrom doesn’t work for me. A lot of hiya readers represent this demographic. We are not slugs…we just need some encouragement as well. Any thoughts on this? I know it is not your focus, but I love your blog and would love to my size (XL) get some ❤. Thanks, Sheaffer
Sheaffer says
Hi! I totally understand where you are coming from. However, the majority of this blog (besides the occasional collage) is based on clothing items that I actually wear. I try A TON of things on, and then only feature things that I like. I might see something I like online (either my size or a different size), but can’t get really excited about recommending it to others unless I personally tried it and loved it. I’ll try to think of some other ways to authentically start introducing other sizes on the blog. Thanks for the comment and the sweet words! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

Just had a “DUH” moment when I read about hanging a skirt inside out. I had put foam padding around my skirt hangers (in vain)…no more marks on the waistband for me~THANK YOU for the simple, yet effective solution!
Christina says
A little off-topic but what the heck!
I bought a blardigan a few weeks ago and love, Love, LOVE it!
Question: do they ever go on sale? Trying to make a case to justify a sibling for the one I just bought…
Sheaffer says
Hi, Christina! Every once in a while, random colors will go on sale here and there….but they always fly off the shelves! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

I knew you would notice the kid in the claw machine!!! And how often Nick brags about getting his wiggle on!!! Not loving Nick but still watching and loving your recaps!!! Also, I find myself thinking about which girls we might see in paradise this summer, I think Christen should be there! Hope you feel better soon!
