Good stuff.
The very second I came up with the Closet Confessions series back in January, I called Shay to see when she would be ready to show off her new closet (although at the time she was months away from even moving in!). In true Shay fashion, she said she could do it in June, although she wasn’t even moving in until the end of May! The Shulls seriously move into a house and have everything in it’s place within like 48 hours. Like stuff is on the walls, candles are burning, and a bundt cake is in the oven within 48 hours. It’s down right freakish. 🙂
That being said, if you’ve read this blog for longer than a couple of days, then you know how much I love this girl.
Shay is an incredible friend and such an amazing cheerleader.
I hope you all have good friend cheerleaders in your lives too!
In fact, Shay is the one that initially encouraged me to start this blog.
And let me tell ya, this whole blogging thing would be a whole lot less fun if I didn’t have Shay to do it with. I am so thankful that we’ve had each other on this little blogging adventure!
As you can see above, we always have such a great time hanging out.
And we have just as much fun during our early morning phone calls.
I’m not lying when I say that we have often been on the phone before 5:00 a.m.
Disclaimer here: now that school is out for summer, this lady is sleeping in and no longer waking up before 5:00. Shay’s mornings must be lonely now without somebody to be able to call! 🙂
Now….before I hand this over to Shay, just be prepared for the fact that you are going to want to move in to her closet before the post is over.
Just think…you could live in Shay’s closet….and she can visit every so often bringing you bundt cakes (she’s made over 100) and bars (she’s now on the journey to making 100). It will be delightful.
Maybe she’ll even bring you her latest bar that she just posted yesterday.
Oh yeah, baby. Find it HERE.
Now, after you’re finished trying on her Hunter boots and stuffing your face with bundts and bars, go ahead and stuff some scarves and some tank tops in your bag and drop them by my house.
She’ll never miss them.

Take it away Shay!

I just love seeing inside everyone’s closets!
My clothes were suffocating. They needed to breathe…and now, they can.
Hold the phone. This is Sheaffer. Everybody take a minute to appreciate the wallpaper.

that I can make it really bright for seeing things or turn it down to
make it kind of sparkle. It’s totally girly and really fun!

What are your top 3 style staples?
that I can easily spot them. I am one of those people who wears scarves

summer and heavier scarves are my favorite in the fall and winter. I
love, love, love me a good scarf! Lots of scarves for under $25 can be found HERE.

next fall. I absolutely love buying outerwear at the end of season
because it’s always drastically reduced. This fall, I am going to be so
happy I have my new jacket!
started doing this years ago as an extra layer and I really like how it
makes my clothes look. I have a shorter torso, so the extra layer makes
everything kind of fit and lay better. My very favorite tanks are from Gap! They’re long and wash and wear so well!

I organize them that way.

For size reference, I was wearing a small. Now that’s it’s 40% off I’m FOR SURE getting in.
For size reference, I was wearing a 2.
Let me tell you something about these jeans. They are stupid flattering.
STUPID. FLATTERING.
I think they made me look AT LEAST 5 pounds skinnier. At least.
I was super tall and super skinny in these jeans.
(FYI:
I showed my hubby this picture because I wanted him to see how tall and
skinny I was in the jeans, and here’s what he said……wait for
it…….”Are those jeans on backwards?” I laughed so hard!)
Boys.
However, I had put them in this collage so you get to see them.
For size reference, I was wearing a 4.
I needed a 4 in these shorts, so I would say they are true to size.
no p.p.p.p.s.

Thank you so much for featuring me today. This really is my favorite series you do. And yes, key under mat for you to come inside and hang out in my closet…no need to worry about my alarm…you've unfortunately heard my funny alarm code word ;). Love you friend!

I think that Shay may be my much younger and much more beautiful twin. I love everything in her closet and her organization skills are enviable!! I love the striped tee and shorts uniform and the way she organize her tops according to sleeve length! I am so glad I am not the only one who does that(: I am following her blog today with the hope that she can now teach me to cook too(: Thanks for the fun! Susan

Love getting a sneak peek into Shay's closet. Love all the bright colors and she is right on with layering tanks and neutral wedges. Now I need to get a park of JCrew shorts…
Dani {Adventures of a Pharm Girl} says
I am in love with J. Crew chinos. I can serioulsly wear them ever single day. And since reading Shay's blog I don't feel so bad about sticking up on a million pairs at one time haha. Love reading both of y'all's blogs! So fun! Thanks for sharing! Happy Monday!

I was contemplating some of those hangers the other day, but didn't know if they were that great and would really make a difference. But you have convinced me know. Especially since there's a big ol' pack of them for cheap at Costco. Going back today! 🙂
kristinwithani says
Terry, they are great! I'm slowly transitioning all of my shirts and dresses to them. It's an investment but worth it.
dresselfamily.blogspot.com says
are these the hangers from Costco , or are Costcos just a look al ike?

I'll ask her when we are at the pool today, so check back later this afternoon and I'll have an answer for you! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
They're J Crew 3" Chinos :).
Anonymous says
Thank you! I thought they were JCrew but then remembered seeing some similar at Gap awhile ago!
Alis says
Thanks for this series! One question about J.Crew shorts – what about them doesn't fit you well? I need a pair or two and am wondering where to go. Where do you get yours?
Sheaffer says
Hi Alis! I just meant that SHAY'S shorts wouldn't fit me. She's a teeny tiny little person! 🙂 I love my LOFT shorts just like she loves her J Crew shorts (mine are 4 inch, hers are 3 inch) Here's the link to my favs at LOFT. Just copy and paste the link!

Love this post. I read yours and Shay's Blog, so fun to get a peek inside. How do you all store handbags and wallets? This is my hardest thing for my closet organization! Also you need to become a Personal Shopper! I am not kidding!
I just bought that sweater at Loft last weekend! It's a great staple for the office!
DetroitDuchess says
This is pretty much my dream closet! We have teeny tiny closets around our house now so I have different things in each of them. It looks like heaven in there. I would just grab a mimosa every morning and lord over my shoes, haha!
Amy Kleis says
I think both of you are just adorable and I must confess that I must have some kind of peeping tom disorder because I too love to see what others do! LOL…..heads up that Costco has those hangers in a pack of 50 for like $15 bucks….only black, but a few years ago when I discovered them, they were way expensive, I was the mommy dearest about no more wire hangers (only used plastic until these babies came out)…they are wonderful, I even changed out hubbies hangers thanks to the costco budget!
They do have the clips that you can put on them to hang shorts and stuff, but they are super stiff and not very user friendly, plus they clip to the bottom of the hanger so pants hang really low in your closet, so I really would like for them to come out with a slim for that too. Lol. Happy Monday friend!

Fantastic post! This made me want to reorganize my closet….
Nicole Bickham says
Ok Ms. Sheaffer…
You inspired me! When my daughter left for church camp for the first time, I was feeling blue. So what do I do? I redecorate my closet! I used Joni's Closet Confession as an inspiration. I painted the back walls black and copied her gold design. I added shelves and all sorts of fun. My oldest daughter asked, "Are you going to come in here and read those books?"(the cute ones on the shelves now). My husband said, "A chandelier in the closet???" However, I have a new happy place full of beauty. Thank you for the fun and enjoyable posts about closets. Who knew decorating a closet would be so much fun. Happy Summer!

Love Shay's closet! It's so nice to have all of the space she has. Funny I just spent my whole day yesterday reorganizing my closet and I got rid of all the boxes. Shay's closet is so nicely organized…she gave me some great ideas! I, too, love the J.Crew shorts, but I'm a 5" gal…I'm tiny, but I feel a bit more comfortable with more leg coverage 🙂
One question…you both have the whitest teeth! What do you use? Have you had them professionally whitened or do you use a kit at home? I'm curious! Thanks!

I went to Loft and tried those jeans on and loved them. You were right I think they made me lose 5lbs and gained inches in my height. But it was my husband's comment that made it. He was like "whoa" hon very nice jeans. He loved them on me. Thanks for sharing, love your blog

Hi Sheaffer,
About the Nordstrom's Half-yearly sale, back at Christmas you posted a product I bought that my husband loves but I can not seem to find again. Is it only sold at Christmas? http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/j-paul-grooming-anti-aging-shave-kit-117-value/3714420?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=126&cm_sp=personalizedsort-_-searchresults-_-1_0_B
It was the shavers. It came three in a set. I want to order more.
Shay, I just moved too. I want to know how you unpack everything and are up an running in 48hours. I am still trying to get my closet and bathroom organized… HELP! 🙂 Love the double post, Ladies!
Sheaffer says
Hi Mona! Yes….items like that are often just sold around Christmas time. It's kind of like the make-up sets that only come around at Christmas. It's possible that some products like that might show up during the Anniversary Sale in July, so we can keep our fingers crossed! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Emily @ LaForce Be With You says
Really like Shay's style and that chandelier! I've been on the hunt for a chandelier for my closet.
I would love to know more about the dimensions of the closet and what items are on which walls, etc. Looking to redo my closet soon and it's hard to decide where to place everything.
