This is one of those times.

It’s like I’m a flippin’ Xerox machine or something.
I thought this was an ok outfit. Not great, not awful.
I for sure like her shirt better than mine. I liked mine fine when I was looking at my outfit in person, but looking at it now in this picture, I’m kind of afraid I’m going to break out in a Flashdance number or something from Fame. (I’m really sad right now thinking how several of my friends reading this won’t even get those references.)
Google it.
Striped shirt and tank: LOFT
Turquoise skinny jeans: Nordstrom* (Chris, they were $9!)
Brass necklace: Target
Turquoise and Brass earrings: Sam Moon
Sparkly Leopard Tom’s: Neiman’s
(The Tom’s were a Christmas gift from the in-laws last year, and I pretty much want to marry these shoes.)
DISCLAIMER:
*In this instance, Nordstrom happens to be code for JC Penney.
(Which goes a long way in explaining why they were $9.)
I had run into Sephora to get my favorite lip gloss, and I saw these jeans calling to me from across the store (a JC Penney is connected to this Sephora).
Anyway, the jeans are from JCP.
There, I said it.
I have two friends (I can’t mention their names here because they are in a type of fashion witness protection program regarding their connection to JC Penney), but they both have colored skinny jeans that they love from Penneys also.
And I want to know, why is it that we are fine with telling people if something we’re wearing is from Target, but we get shy at the fact that these jeans are from Pennys?
Who knows.
But, the fact remains, I think we should keep this just between us.
Seriously,
Let us never speak of this again.

I actually shop at JCP too! There are some cute clothes there actually for some great prices! Don't be ashamed! I got a catalog yesterday in mail – super cute fall stuff.

Julie, I've got a plan. We need to finally set up the playdate with us and our boys, and we need to dress in our JCP finds! 🙂
juju designs says
That sounds great! We WILL have this playdate some day – we WILL! 🙂

I have really been enjoying your blog!
And I hope you don't take what I am about to say wrong, but why is shopping at JC Penney's a bad thing? Labels shouldn't really matter as long as you are comfortable in what you have on.
Sheaffer says
Hi Alice!
So glad you are enjoying the blog! Thanks for reading and for commenting! 🙂 And yes….I totally agree….labels don't matter at all. And actually, I'm the first to admit if I find a great bargain somewhere….no matter where it's from. It's kind of a little quirk I have. Even if a random person at the grocery store tells me they like my shirt or something, instead of just saying "thank you" like a normal person, I usually get way too excited and strike up a conversation with them about how I got it at Target on clearance and it was only $3.97. And…..you will see a couple more JCP items in future posts. A super cute sequined tank and a striped short sleeve sweater have been a couple of my other total scores at good ol' JCP. 🙂

I think it's an age thing…in our jr high years only 80 year old women shopped at jc penny. But the store has reinvented itself and it now has some of the best lines and cutest trends at great prices. My girlfriend who is mostly a niemans shopper had the cutest swimsuit this summer and she got it at jcp. I'm a fan!
And Sheaffer I like you look better than the pinterest one!

I do the same thing about telling people where I got something and the cost. I think if they take the time to compliment your outfit that they maybe want to know where they can find it. Haha!
{Hi Sugarplum!} says
I'm the opposite — I always feel the need to let people know how cheap I found things…like I can't have them think I spent crazy money for something. I hardly ever just say thank you when complimented on an outfit…it's usually followed with a 'it's Forever 21!" or "clearance rack at Target!"
