Cue the birds and hearts circling around my head, because this girl LOVES Anthropologie.
My love affair with Anthro is nothing new, but until last year I just admired the clothes on others and never actually bought them for myself.
I just thought that the pieces were too expensive for my budget.
Well. I no longer think that.
Yes, an item from Anthropologie is often times a little bit more expensive than an
item at LOFT or GAP (the tops I’ve bought are all between $58-$78)…
BUT IT’S FOR GOOD REASON.
Anthropologie’s clothes have a little extra pazazz.
They have details like pleating, ruffles, layers, embroidery, lace, etc….
and I’ve learned that I’m willing to pay a little extra money for something unique.
A little extra money for SPECIAL now makes sense to me!
(The compliments that I get on the pieces don’t hurt either.) 🙂
Over the last year I have purchased 4 tops from Anthropologie (again, all between $58-$78).
The Anthro stuff in my closet that I have “splurged” on (but remember, all under $80),
I absolutely LOVE and ADORE.
And when I LOVE and ADORE something, I wear it all the time.
And when I wear it all the time, it makes it totally worth the money.
So see?
It makes PERFECT sense.
And now I shop at Anthropologie!
I hope some of you that have never considered shopping at Anthropologie for yourselves will give it a try today!
I know I’m so happy that it’s now one of the stores in my regular rotation.
I just love adding extra special pieces to my closet!
🙂
Okay, let’s start with one of my favorites right now.
I fell in love with THIS split neck popover.
For size reference, I was wearing a small.
It’s the same style as the MUST HAVE shirt that we all know and love, but with some bells and whistles!
The crinkly material is great and as 1 reviewer mentioned would be perfect for travel.
Very comfy. Very flattering.
What’s not to love?
It’s a PERFECT transitional piece for fall.
Great on it’s own, but just as great for layering.
(You can find my abalone earrings HERE.)
I am always a sucker for layered tops, and this one was no exception.
Love the shape and all the details. I thought it was fun with distressed jeans (my exact pair are sold out, so the pair linked is a shade darker) and my converse!
It also comes in a cream color and a mint green.
For size reference, I was wearing a small.
For size reference, I was wearing a medium. So, I guess I’m suggesting you size up in this.
Oh…just read the reviews…and everybody recommends sizing up.
Now that I’m looking at these pics, I’m loving it even more!!!!!!
It’s a great shirt!
I just need to decide if I’m going to get this one or the first shirt up top?!?
This would be the most expensive shirt I’ve ever purchased from Anthropologie, but I love it enough I’m thinking it’s worth it! FYI, it comes in grey too.
I was wearing a small. $138.
The pretty lace trim, flowy cut, and peplum hem make this special!
It’s very bohemian and just cool.
For size reference, I was wearing an x-small, so I suggest sizing down.
Well, here you go!

I mean, really. How cute would we be wearing this outfit!

Hello Sheaffer!
Yes, your clock reads
right, I am writing you this email at 2 in the morning. I am a nurse and
my schedule is all sorts of crazy. While I was thinking of it, I HAD to
show you a sweater I found at anthropology (and yes, this thought
forced me to change out of my pjs and create a quick little
outfit to show off how adorable it is!). When I found it in the store I
immediately thought of you and how your readers need to see it.
I
mean, can we please talk about how stinking cute that lace detailing
is!? In the store I couldn’t wait to try it on with some skinny jeans
and my Sam Edelman penny boots I purchased last year, because Pinterest
told me to ?. Anyway, I really hope you’ll share this sweater with your
readers, I have a feeling they will love it as much as I do!
Xoxo,
Meredith Hellman (from Lincoln, Nebraska) Click HERE for Meredith’s sweater.
Also, Meredith thinks it runs large, so she recommends sizing down!
Before you ladies leave, you might want to see some other pieces that I didn’t see in the store, but that I’m super interested in.
persian pear tee HERE / skirted pullover HERE / tie dye popover HERE
And look at this storystitch cardigan HERE (make sure you check out the back of this baby!).
And some pants…
camo pants HERE / AG distressed ankle jeans HERE / AG stevie cords HERE
And a dress that’s perfect for me.
It’s shift.
It’s patterned.
I love it.
Find the tile printed shift dress HERE.
It’s expensive at $188, but if you have a certain event in mind, it might be worth it for you!
And check out THESE boots.
Fits slim on the calf and perfect with skirts, dresses, and skinny jeans.
Gorg.
And a great price at $160 for a fabulous pair of versatile tall boots!
So that’s it for today ladies!
If you’re already an Anthro person,
then I know I’m preachin’ to the choir.
But if you’re not,
You should give a piece or two a try!
I think you’ll see that you’re willing to pay a little extra money for something special!

I completely agree with you! I also want to state for the record that you were wearing this one really cute top at my house this summer and I complimented it and you said it was your fourth time that week to throw it on…that is money well spent right there!
Sarita @ it's my girls' world says
Yes, I love anthro too… And their little household knock knacks are fun too. Now if only their dresses weren't $200 a piece!
Doused In Pink says
Anthropologie is my favorite store! They have the most unique selection. Love your picks, especially the recessed lace sweatshirt! That is something I would wear all of the time!

All of these tops are great! My favorite would have to be the first one in copper. Were you wearing a small in this one? Thanks .
Sheaffer says
Oops! I just added this info. to the post too, but I was wearing a small! Thanks for catching the error!

I like your point about "special features" Shaeffer. When I look in my closest, there's a lot of color in there (good for me), but not a lot of WOW factor to my tops. Its mainly because I play it safe, but also because I shop at the same store: Banana Republic, and they just don't add a lot of detailing to their tops. I may have to branch out a little and try new things. Thanks for the friendly nudge!
Katie says
Love me some anthropologie! What all ended up going home with you?
Sheaffer says
Hi Katie!
This might sound weird, but even when I shop in store, I typically come home and order online after sorting through all of my pictures! 🙂 For example, in store my favorite top was the top one I highlighted. But after getting home, I started thinking I liked the ombre one better. I already ordered the lace bottom tunic for myself, and I'm trying to decide which other top is going to be mine?!?

I love Anthro but have only bought a couple shirts from there. I do wear them a lot and everytime I wear them, I get a ton of compliments. I might have to add a few more shirts to my closet for fall/winter from there. Thanks for finding some cute shirts…it will be hard for me to decide which ones to add.
Jenny says
I love love those Steve Madden boots! Have you seen them in real life?
Sheaffer says
Hi Jenny! I have, and they are VERY pretty!!!!!

You and Anthro just GO TOGETHER! I mean, everything looks so stinkin' good on you!!!
Michelle says
Hi! Just wanted to first tell you that I look forward to your blog everyday (along w shays) and it's the first I check in the morning. You are so funny and have a great fun style for moms! Also, I had never shopped at anthro either until I bought some shirts you loved, and now I love it too! I waited til they were in sale last month and got them for about 23 each, which is great for the quality!
Because Shanna Said So says
I agree 100%! Anthro has great quality and pieces you can't get anywhere else…plus their sales are amazing!! You just have to be patient and constantly check their website.
christi says
Love anthro just wish they would go to xxl for us "thicker" ladies. Sorry to go off track here but you are the Nordstrom queen, do you know if Nordstrom's will take back a never worn item with the tags cut. No receipt but they can look up the purchase on my card. I have something that I know I will never wear but I guess when I tried it on I cut the tags and can't find them. Thanks
Sheaffer says
Hi Christi! I am willing to bet that they will take it back no questions asked! If they can look it up on your card then you should be all set!

Sheaffer 🙂

Love Anthro so much. I could spend hours in the store. It's fun to get a couple of things each season, almost like a treat. They are a little expensive but so much fun to treat yourself to.
Julia B says
This post just made me fall in love with Anthro!! I've gone back and forth on their stuff for a while, but this seals the deal for me.; I will definitely be investing in a few versatile pieces each season. Just ordered the grey and lace tunic, but I have to wait until November to receive it! May have to do some more shopping to hold me over till then. : )
Melodee says
I agree 100%! The nicest pieces I have are from anthro…and they are a little pricey but they tend to be my favorite go-tos in the wardrobe!
Anonymous says
I love anthro!!! Their clothes is so fun and different. The only thing that makes me sad is that I find the quality lacking in some items (specifically cotton shirts)… I love their "home" section though!!
MikiT says
Hmm…I'm surprised no one has mentioned the poor quality of their garments. I agree that they are unique & trendy but they are made out of cheap fabrics that don't hold up well to washing. The fabrics are generally thin & the t's twist when washed. Not worth the extra money IMO.
Sheaffer says
Hi there! I only own 4 tops from Anthropologie, but I haven't had any quality problems with any of the 4. One of the tops I dry clean, but the other three I wash myself (and I've washed them a lot since I wear them a lot), and they've held up well! I'm interested, is it a certain brand Anthropologie carries that you've had issues with? I appreciate your input!
xoxo,
Sheaffer 🙂

Thanks for sharing! I haven't been to anthro in SO long and now I'm dying for a fix. May have to do a little online shopping 🙂

They have such unique pieces. A few tops from there are worth the investment because they are outfit makers!

There was nothing mini about this awesome post!! Great finds, and of course they all look adorable on you!!
Ashley says
I love Anthropologie tops, would wear one everyday if I could afford to. But the closest store to me is downtown where I don't get to very often, and their shipping costs are absolutely ridiculous. I think they must actually make money off of their shipping, which is maddening because their prices are already so high!
Melanie Lien says
Sheaffer, I have been eyeing those boots. Oh man. I may just have to make them mine. Love them!

I'm a hoping for a post with scarves. Last fall/winter I wanted to "buy all the scarves!!" but couldn't. This year I'm ready, I sold all of the clothes in my closet I no longer wear. Scarves and simple long sleeve tees please!! ?
