Hey, Girls! During Spring Break my family went bowling with some family friends at Splitsville in Fairview. After we were done bowling, I hopped across the street to to a store that several of you have requested that I head to again.
So….today you all going to get to go……..
Yay!!!!! WooHoo!!!!!
But before we dive in at Old Navy, let’s really quickly talk about the new mini studs from Kate Spade. I started talking about THESE CUTE LITTLE STUDS on facebook last week, but I haven’t talked about them on the blog yet. (You should totally be following me on facebook by the way, because facebook people get sneak peaks ALL THE TIME!) I don’t think I can adequately describe how pretty these are in person. The pictures don’t do these babies justice. They are so pretty and they kind of all have a vintage look to them! Here you see the abalone, the pink quartz, and the denim blue. There’s also a mother of pearl and an amazonite. All 5 colors are seriously gorgeous, and I’m telling you, you can’t go wrong with any of these semiprecious studs.
I’m thinking that they will be on constant rotation all year long, but I know I’ll be wearing them at the pool all summer! Click HERE.
And many of the girls on facebook wanted to see a side by side of the big studs with the little studs to better compare the sizing. Here are the multi-glitter!

OKAY, NOW LET’S GET TO THE GOODS AT OLD NAVY! First off, check out the sale codes!!!
I had about an hour to myself at the store, but it was crowded (hello, spring break shoppers), so I didn’t have time to try on everything I wanted to. Now, I promise you, I didn’t get this military jacket for myself (that would make 6 for me, and even I have limits!), but you know I had to try it on! I liked the way it fit, loved the fun collar, and it comes in khaki as well! And you know I think everybody needs at least one in their closet. A great military jacket is a staple that will become a workhorse for you, especially in the spring and fall. For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the jacket (true to size) and a medium in the tee (I sized up). The shoreline converse are true to size.
jacket / tee / similar jeans / shoreline converse / arrow necklace
Don’t mind the purple bra. #sorrydad I couldn’t find a cami to try on with it, but I still wanted to show this top to you guys! The cut out swing blouse can be found HERE. And it comes in navy with white embroidery, which would be so cute with white jeans! They didn’t have that one in store, but I think I would like it even better! For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
And THIS dress spoke to me from across the store. I saw it and immediately headed over to it. Unfortunately, once I got it on, it said “if you buy me you’ll have to get me hemmed”. #shortgirlproblems The left picture shows the regular length, and the picture on the right shows the hem tucked up under a couple of inches to show you how much cuter I think it is with a shorter hemline. But, this is good news for you tall girls!
Click HERE for this embroidered chambray dress. Click HERE for all their dresses (and they have some really cute ones to choose from that would be great to throw on this summer)!
Click HERE (non distressed) and HERE (distressed like I’m wearing) for these cut off shorts that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED! In fact, they left with me and now call me mama. FYI: It’s late, and I thought that was funny. 😉 For size reference, I’m wearing a 4 (true to size). They are a little roomy, but that’s how I like my denim shorts! If you want them more fitted, I would suggest sizing down. My tee is from LOFT and sold out.
I know there are a lot of you that are huge fans of Old Navy’s pixie pants (TONS of different colors and patterns available for Spring)! Click HERE for these patterned pixie ankle pants. For size reference, I’m wearing a 6, so I sized up.
They have several styles of pants. Click HERE to browse the pants.
They’ve got some cute shorts as well. I’m wearing a 6 in these, but I needed a 4, they just didn’t have them in stock.
Find the blue gingham shorts HERE. These would be so cute with a regular white tee (click HERE for my WHITE TEE REVIEW post from last week) or a vibrant color tee with MY FAVORITE TASSEL NECKLACE! I see these shorts paired with brown sandals like THESE (similar to mine from last year) or THESE great cognac slip ons.
I thought this pattern was fun as well. Find the multi-print twill shorts HERE. Find all shorts HERE.
Click HERE for this button back top that also comes in yellow. I LOVED the back and the whole idea of the tee, but I thought the front was too boxy. So, I liked it in theory. 😉 For size reference, I was wearing a small.
And I thought this was a great summer top. I’ve always loved eyelet. You can find the swing top HERE. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
And when I saw the white denim jacket, I knew I had to try it on. Sadly, I was disappointed, because it was too boxy for my taste. I’ve become so used to the close fit of my MUST HAVE denim jacket, I just didn’t feel great in this one. If you don’t mind a more generous fit, this might be perfect for you! If you prefer a more fitted look like I do, there’s always THIS one in white, from the same maker of my must have jacket.
white denim jacket / tee / similar jeans / shoreline converse
And on my way out the door I picked up THIS PJ SET! And I love it! It comes in a hot pink stripe too! For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
That’s it for Old Navy! Y’all know I don’t frequently shop there, but how did you like the variety? Sound off in the comments and let me know if you were happy to see Old Navy or not. I always seem to get mixed reviews when I feature different retailers, but I genuinely want your feedback!
And last but not least, who doesn’t love a good sale? #nobody #that’swho You can click HERE to shop almost everything for 30% OFF at LOFT. They have lots of really pretty dresses right now that you can find HERE. And you know I always love their shorts found HERE. Also, I put this on facebook yesterday, and I’m hoping it’s all still on sale.

And just in case you don’t have an Easter dress yet, you can pay $15 for 2 day shipping (if you order before 2:00 pm. CST today and have it by Wednesday)! Click HERE for a great selection all under $200. Click HERE for a selection all under $100.
See y’all back here on Wednesday!

I loved this post! I like picking up staples at ON like shorts and tees. They have some great dresses this spring too!! Susan
Erika Slaughter says
You found some treasures!! I’m a big fan of all those patterned shorts. And bummer on that dress because it was cute!!
Krista says
I love the Old Navy post. It definitely fits my budget better. Thanks for giving such cute ideas and doing the hard work for us.
Jenny V. says
Love when you feature different retailers!
Old navy is hit or miss but it looks like you found some cute things!
Have a great Monday!
Shay Shull says
Those mini glitter studs are so cute!! When I saw them last week, I wanted to buy every color. They just look perfect for spring and summer. Happy Monday friend!
Denise Panetta says
Love the Old Navy shorts always …. I get the 5 inch length. Love the new patterned ones this season. The shirts tend to be boxy and those are hit or miss with me. But you always look cute in what you feature. Going back to Key West next week so I have to get there for a couple dresses.
Jessica W says
Love this post! I tend to hit up Old Navy online frequently because they have super cute and affordable kids clothes. I always end up scoping out the Women’s stuff too and it looks cute online but can be hit or miss. So it’s great that you are doing the “hard work” for us! 😉 More Old Navy posts, please!
Narci says
Those patterned shorts are darling, and I liked those denim shorts also!! Their pajamas are always so cute and affordable too! Great work, girl!!
michelle says
The denim shorts linked aren’t distressed like yours.
Sheaffer says
Ah, nuts! You’re right Michelle! I went to try to find mine after receiving your comment, and I can’t find them. There’s a 5 inch pair that’s distressed (you can find those here: http://rstyle.me/~7QMMk ), but mine aren’t that length. So sorry! I did change the wording in the post. xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Lisa G. says
I personally don’t like the.Old Navy posts. I think the stuff looks cute but I don’t think its nearly the same quality or level of service you can count on from Nordstrom or Loft. Probably fine for kids clothes that will be outgrown in a season but just seems like disposable clothing…:(
Lindsay says
I agree with this.
Taylor says
I LOVE Old Navy!!!!! 🙂 Always good to have some cheaper options to stock up our Spring/Summer wardrobe.
Hannah {Lugimom Blog} says
Thanks for sharing! Old Navy tends to fit my clothing budget better, and they offer their clothes in tall sizes which this 5’11” girl needs!
Lindsay says
I ordered that military jacket last week and was so excited about it… But the color in person was less olive and more poop.
Why does it look olive on you, too, in your pics?? Not fair! Hooray for free return shipping 😉
Amy says
I had the same experience with the “olive” military jacket! I did buy the khaki, though.
Sarah says
I like when you feature other places too . Like someone above mentioned it’s nice to get some staples a little cheaper . Plus we don’t have a regular Nordstroms here so its nice to be able to try on things you post !
Taylor O says
I am loving your old navy post. It’s become a new favorite in my shopping rotation as of lately. So many cute styles for s great price point. It’s great to get forever pieces at a Nordstrom and such with better quality and higher price point but I love old navy for some seasonal trends and inexpensive basics. They have a couple lines of jeans that I really enjoy too. Thanks for featuring. My best friend and I love your and Shay’s blogs and aspire to be cute besties like y’all.
Kristen says
Aww, you’re so sweet to go to ON for us budget minded girls! Thank you! Those shorts and pjs were winners for sure. I will check them out 🙂
Megan says
Scheaffer,
I love a good mix in your posts! Old Navy is like Loft for me…completely hit or miss; I either want everything or nothing. I did buy an adorable romper this weekend from ON with the 40% discount they had, and I’m contemplating those shorts and a few dresses. Thanks for mixing it up. I love Nordstrom, but it’s nice to see some variety also.
Stephanie says
This is exactly how I feel Megan! It’s 100% hit or miss! I went in about a month ago and found not 1 single thing.
Tara says
I’m really glad to see a post from you on Old Navy. I shop there all the time. I hope to see more from you regarding Old Navy! Thanks.
midwestmomm says
Yes yes yes to more Old Navy posts! Thank you!
Melanie says
Thank you for doing this post! I love seeing some cheaper options. I would love to see another Target post also 🙂
HeatherHS says
Love your shopping with segments!! But can we puh-leeze ressurect the Shopping with Sheaffer and Shay at least once a year (once a quarter would be better??)?! Those posts always made my day!!
Kim says
I enjoy the Old Navy & Target clothing trips. Its nice to change it up a bit from the standard Nordstrom & Loft posts. Plus, Old Navy is super inexpensive, so it’s nice to be able to pick up a few things without breaking the bank. I’m not expecting to get 5 years out of an Old Navy item but the pricing reflects that.
KayVonne says
Love the Old Navy post – like the variety. My niece is turning 11 in May and the Kate Spade mini studs are a perfect gift for her birthday! Thank you! 🙂
Sarah says
I love your Old Navy posts! Please keep it up.
Gail Wilson says
So funny – I was thinking of you and ‘Hi Sugarplum’ while at ON yesterday! Got those ultra cute patterned shorts and a couple of embroidered tops for a Mexico cruise next week. Did you find that the patterned shorts ran bigger than the 5″ ones? Needed a 4 but store was out, so I got the 6; too cute to pass up! The white 5″ shorts in size 4 fit perfectly, but waaaay too see through – why, hello green Hanky Panky’s!
cassie {hi sugarplum} says
You look darling in the shorts and pjs! And the bomber is darling, too! Old Navy is so hit or miss for me…some trips it’s like JACKPOT, and others I walk out empty-handed. But now shop them exclusively online because their check-out line is ALWAYS SO LONG!!! #victim 🙂
natasha says
I love reading your blog to see what you actually love and wear. Not just for a diversity of retailers.
Amy G says
I love to get some Old Navy sundresses for the season that I can wear with the kids to the park, the beach, etc… And not worry about. So it’s great a couple of times a year to do that and Target – helps round out the the Nordy’s and Loft. It would be fun to do some high / low stylin’ posts. PS- I didn’t comment back a couple of weeks during the name switch but this West Coast mama is fully supportive of STMT- I love that I found your blog last year- it feels like I have a virtual group of shopping girlfriends from all over, so.much.fun!
Christine says
Awesome reviews! One question what color top would you wear with the multi colored twill shorts. I actually bought them already, but can’t decide what color top to wear.
Sheaffer says
Hi Christine! I would wear grey, light pink, or blue! I think you probably can’t go wrong! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Janet says
I love Old Navy. Thanks for doing a post. You need to go back and spend more time in there for other options. Old Navy shorts are my go to. They wash and wear so well. (I do hang them to dry instead of the dryer). I am at the age where the 5″ inseam is much better for me. I have many cute options in my closet both summer and winter from the past few years. They are so much more affordable on my budget. They always have some kind of sale going on.
Michelle~The Charleston Lens says
Old Navy has stepped up their game for sure over the last few seasons. While I agree it could be considered “disposable” clothing, at this point in my life with two tween/teen kids, I am not investing a lot in my wardrobe anymore. I can hit ON and feel like I have something new to wear that’s trendy and fun without breaking my wallet. And I’m living in the Rockstar jeans!!! I also have Joe’s and actually took a pair Paige skinnies back for a quality issue! Guess I’ll keep on rocking’ the Rockstars this Spring. Would love to see more ON options in your posts.
Jenny says
Love your Old Navy posts when you have time! You must put a lot of time into it…so, Thank you!!!!– would love to see more:) praying for Manda!!!
Lindsey says
I like when you feature more budget friendly stores. I wish you would feature Target more!!
Jodi says
While I like the Nordstrom posts I don’t have a store local to me so I enjoy the Old Navy posts once in awhile. I also like that Old Navy has options for tall girls vs for example Vigoss does not.
Susan says
I love Old Navy! Keep ’em comin!
Christina says
I love some things from ON, but they usually don’t hold up very long for me. That being said, I don’t mind spending money on some summer staples that I know I’ll wear daily all through the summer, and then not again. I guess I feel like I get my moneys worth if I can wear the heck of out the item all summer. But their stuff doesn’t last more than a year or so from my experience.
Heather says
I love that you featured Old Navy! It is a little cheaper, so some of us can afford it more!! Plus they carry alot of the same items in plus size! Thank you for the review!
Chas @ Haute Mommy Blog says
Cute! A lot of the ON shorts patterns are similar to J Crew this season. I shopped last week during their 40% off and free shipping but didn’t buy too much, kind of hard to know what size I will need after baby, but I found a few maternity summer basics.
Totally just bought those Kate Spade earrings too. 🙂

I’m not much of an Old Navy shopper, either. The clothes don’t fit me right (sleeves always too long, and I find everything too boxy, also). That being said, I do shop for my adult grandson there for pants. Also I was so happy to see the pajamas! Do you know how hard it is to find summer jammers with sleeves like that? Seems like they always have spaghetti straps or a tank style. I’m feeling like I must go check those out tomorrow.
Carrie says
I like old navy but it is hit or miss. I got an adorable dress that has held up so well. I do like their exercise tips, especially some of the half zips with the thumb sleeve cut offs. I also have picked out some jewelry items that are neat additions. I am a special Ed preschool teacher. Things in my wardrobe take a beating. I am not a fan of the pixie pants, they shrink in the wash and the material is just not pleasant to me. The black pair I bought and sadly washed ( so I can’t return) are complete lint traps.
Carrie Gregg says
Thanks so much for doing this post. I agree with others that ON is hit or miss, I feel that way about Loft too. Would love to see more from Target. Agree that Nordstrom us my “go-to”, but like to see other choices too!
emelie says
I agree with showcasing a more budget friendly option however a lot of people aren’t fans of Old Navy. The quality is just not the greatest and 100% hit or miss. I’m curious as to what other “budget friendly” stores people shop at besides GAP. I wish I could buy everything at Nordstroms
🙁
Amy says
I liked your Old Navy post! You found some cute things! I shop there from time to time, mostly for my kids, though.
Unfortunately, I always end up feeling frustrated while inside their stores; they are crowded, disorganized, and the management at the one nearest me is always grumpy. Returns are not easy. Old Navy definitely makes me appreciate Nordstrom.
Mary says
Might as well chime in with everyone else- I loved the Old Navy post! Sure the sizes and quality are hit or miss but I have found some real gems there. And the prices keep you from feeling too guilty when that blue and white plastic bag is stuffed a little too full! Keep the budget-friendly fashion coming!
Hannah Hardy says
I am loving the mini Kate Spade studs! So cute! I have an Old Navy gift card I got recently, so glad you did this post! I’m going to have to go check out these cute finds.
Dawn says
I appreciate good quality clothing like LOFT and the other retailers you feature, however, I LOVE Old Navy for shorts in the summer. I live in Wisconsin and we only wear shorts 3 months out of the year. I don’t want to pay more than $25 ever for a pair of shorts. Their 5 inch shorts are the best mom with cellulite length IMO. Not a fan of their jeans personally. Also, I’m 5 foot 2 and they always have great maxi dresses in their petite section online!
Aimee Sourelos says
I absolutely LOVE your shopping with Sheaffer series! I usually never find anything I like at Old Navy but it’s fun to see what you find anyway.
Please keep these posts coming!
Lisa B says
I bought that military jacket already this year and love ❤️ it. I especially like that I can cinch the waist. I think it’s really flattering. Also bought those light colored flare jeans from Nordies on sale thanks to your recommendation. They rock!!! Thanks for a great post!!
Katie says
I LOVE the Old Navy post! ON is one of those stores where I like their price points for staple items but get overwhelmed in their stores. I love all of your Nordstroms and LOFT recommendations but it is really fun to have another option, too. Someone else suggested you do a Target post which I would love as well!
Nikki says
I am glad you featured Old Navy! Its fun to see some different and less pricey options on your blog! Have you ever thought of having a guest post on maternity wear? I feel like its never talked about, but would be so helpful!!
Raven says
Thanks for doing an Old Navy post.. Nigh more my price point than Nordstrom! I love looking at the outfits you put together but always get so bummed when I know it’s out of reach. So yes, bring on the ON!
Andrea says
Love the Old Navy post….a girl loves options!
Lauren R. says
Love the Old Navy post!
Shelby says
Love this post! I love shopping at Old Navy because it’s a one stop shop kind of place. I can find cute affordable clothing for myself, my husband and all five of my kids! I often shop at Old Navy but have never even tried on the pixie pants. I assumed they wouldn’t be flattering. After reading this post I hightailed it to Old Navy and ended up leaving with three pairs of pixie pants! They are so comfortable and cute! I’m 40 and the Mom of five kids and I tend to shy away from shorts. The pixie pants totally opened up my summer wardrobe choices! I can’t wait to pair these with cute flats/sandals and fun tops all spring/summer long. Thanks so much for this post!
