A couple of housekeeping things first.
1)
Until 10:00 a.m. this morning (10/17), you can get $50 off your $100 full price purchase at LOFT by entering in the code LOFT50!!!!!
WHAT A DEAL!!!!!!
I didn’t get the code until 6:00 p.m. last night, and I posted it on Facebook and I updated my blog post from yesterday to reflect the deal.
If you stopped yourself from buying stuff yesterday……NO. MORE. EXCUSES. 🙂
And, if you already bought things yesterday and are super disappointed right now that you didn’t get to take advantage of the sale, look what one of my readers had to say on my facebook page last night.
Nancy had placed an order yesterday before the sale, but here’s what she was able to do:
“I just called LOFT, and they were able to help me get the discount! Yay LOFT!! What a great company!Because LOFT had already shipped my first order I placed a few hours earlier (another reason to LOVE them) I had to re-place the order. They gave me free shipping on the LOFT50 order & then I will return the higher priced order when I receive it.”
Thanks so much Nancy for sharing your experience!
2) Today I’m linking up with The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday!
I just discovered this site last week (I know, where have I been?), and I LOVE it.
So, if you’re stop by from The Pleated Poppy, WELCOME!

Let’s get on with the show.
I know I’ve spoken about my crush on these cords (here and here), so my love for these cords is well documented.
But now I have a funny story for you about my friend Nikki and her love for her cords.
I can’t believe I haven’t told it before now.
I can’t believe I haven’t told it before now.
I bought these cords at the end of the summer (early August I think), probably the first week they were in the store (they were probably hanging by the swimsuits).
As I often do, I called several friends after I found them and told them how they needed to go get a pair too.
I love to share a good deal with friends.
I’m a giver.

My friends Nikki and Lisa both got them, and they were both huge fans.
Nikki fell in love with these cords. She was completely smitten with them.

I was just so sad that we were going to have to wait so long to wear them, you know,
because they are corduroy.
Nikki however didn’t get the memo about corduroy.
She rocked her corduroys one day in either late August or early September (let’s go ahead and say early September to give her the benefit of the doubt).
She called me and left a rambling message about how she had met friends for lunch on a patio on such a beautiful day, how she had worn her new corduroys, and how she was SO CUTE.
I called her back and was like “You already wore your corduroys?”
She paused, and then said “Yeah. They were darling. Why?”
I was all, “Well….because your corduroys…I don’t know if you know this, but they are corduroy.”
In case you are unfamiliar with corduroy,
I took the liberty of looking up the definition for you.
cor·du·roy/ˈkôrdəˌroi/

Melon cords: Target
(online there is only yellow left at this time, but I know that stores still have them in several colors….and I feel quite sure they will re-stock online)
I promise you, you need AT LEAST ONE pair of these cords.

And Nikki…there have now been several days in our area (specifically a couple of weekends ago) where it was perfect cord weather.
So, go out and rock your cords people.
But don’t forget to check with your local weatherman first.

At the last minute, I also linked to Rolled Up Pretty!

I hate to disagree with the expert…buy you're wrong. Cords are appropriate beginning Labor Day. I hold firm to that rule. However, we can both agree that Nikki was just WRONG to wear them in August! Just imagine the problems I would solve if Obama and Romney just called me on three-way?! I could change the world with my words of wisdom! 😉

I love your scarf! I also love how you tied it!

I think the rules could also apply to where you live(or are visiting) I normally live by the Labor Day rule in NC, but when I visit my in-laws in New England…sometimes, even in June, the high is in the 60's. Either way, the cords look uber fabulous on you today. This may be my favorite outfit yet. It feels nautical(ish)
Alison @ Get Your Pretty On says
I busted out the cords yesterday in Dallas, even though it was almost 80 degrees.
Love this outfit, modern nautical. Tres chic!

Okay, the cord conversation has me totally cracking up.
I am with you….NO CORDS in August!!!!
And, I think my unofficial rule is no cords until the first day of Fall, which is Sept 22. 🙂
Cute outfit you put together!

I love those. Saw them at Target a while back. But I've discovered that I can't wear Target pants. They seem to be sewn straight down through the hips, leaving no room for curves. I'm a petite girl, but I still have curves. Arg! Target forgets that about women!!
Jess says
Love the outfit! I was just looking at the cords at Target today!
