So if you’ve been around here long enough, you know that Nordstrom is my #1 retailer that I pretty much go to for ALL THE THINGS. I started shopping at Nordstrom about 6 years ago, soon after I started blogging, and I’ve never looked back. Before I started the blog, I always thought it was too expensive for me, but I learned very quickly that it wasn’t. I’ve heard from so many of you that you used to think this way as well, and I know that there are some of y’all out there who probably still do.
Here’s the deal…Nordstrom definitely has high quality items and they even carry luxury brands, which is what I think initially scared me away. But what I didn’t know at the time is that they also have lots of brands and items that are quite affordable.
AND they have spectacular sales quite often.
Combine that with their FREE SHIPPING (with no minimum) and their top notch customer service (it’s THE BEST), and they have a customer for life in me. And don’t even get me started on the Anniversary Sale. I’ve seriously already started planning my strategy y’all, and as always, please consider me your Anniversary Sale tour guide. It starts for cardholders on July 11th, and getting a card for early access to the Anniversary Sale is NECESSARY. #trust
In addition to carrying amazing brands that we all know and love like Free People, J Crew (6 pages of SALE), Madewell (tons of stuff on sale), Steve Madden, and Sam Edelman (great shoe sale happening)…Nordstrom also has a great variety of house brands including 1901, BP, Caslon, Halogen, Treasure and Bond and more. These brands have actually become some of my favorite to shop. Earlier this week I picked up this Fire Cracker tee and this Stars and Stripes tee from 1901, and today I’m featuring pieces from BP, Caslon, Treasure and Bond, and Halogen (all house brands).
I mean, I think my love for Nordstrom is always more than obvious, yes? But my goodness, the above reads like a love letter. #everybodygetsit #ilovenordstrom
Now this post was a special treat for me because the little man got in on the fun. Although, now that he’s 10 1/2, I guess I should probably start calling him something else. Even though he will always be my little man.
For our first looks today, we are featuring outfits that we would wear to church, a family reunion (on the brain because we have one coming up!), a nice dinner out, or something similar.
Let’s start with my outfit! All of the pieces are super affordable and can be mixed and matched with several different types of outfits.
No need to introduce you to the white tee and the must have denim jacket. You must have seen each of them on the blog at least 50 times. They are work horses in my closet that I absolutely couldn’t live without. I’m wearing a medium in both.
The blush necklace has also made many an appearance here. It’s a great neutral that I find myself reaching for quite frequently.
This striped midi skirt is a new addition to my wardrobe! It’s the BP brand, which is actually the Nordstrom house brand for their junior customers, but don’t let that scare you. I own and wear a lot of BP pieces. What’s great about the BP brand is that most of their items are incredibly affordable and always right on trend. Today’s post highlights several BP gems, so I will make sure and point those out to you along the way.
The cheerful stripes and breathable linen combine here to make a happy and carefree skirt. I love that it can be dressed up or down, and I think it would be cute to lose the jacket and style the skirt with a simple tee and Converse.
I’m wearing a small and the fit is extremely comfortable. It pulls on with an elastic waist, and I am always a fan of elastic. Plus, it’s got a cute little tie at the waist and pockets. What’s not to love! This particular skirt actually comes in sizes xxs-4x, so they are doing a great job of being all inclusive with the sizing in some of their pieces.
Oh! And if you love the pattern but want something more casual, check out the belted shorts!
I chose to go with a simple knot this time, but it’s definitely long enough to do a small bow if you wish! I like a bow, so I’m happy to have the ability to mix it up and wear it with a bow as well.
I named the Treasure and Bond wedges a MUST HAVE last year (also a house brand!), and after having them for a 2nd year, I love them more than ever. They are comfy, a great height, and super flattering . I wear them with skirts, dresses, skinny jeans, cropped jeans, and boot cut jeans. The wedges are true to size and truly go with everything.
And check out this darling little wicker bag! I love the handles, the turn lock closure, the structure, and the color (also comes in black). The quality of this bag is amazing, and there’s a wide variety to check out from the same maker that are all super affordable.
You can also attach a strap to the bag and wear it cross body! I love that option too.
These $16 sunglasses are one of my favorite BP gems I’ve ever found. BP actually has a great sunglasses department with a handful of traditional choices and lots of trendy options as well, but these are definitely crowd favorites.
The earrings are a great sized teardrop with a little bit of a brushed texture. Also a house brand.
Another amazing BP find? This gorgeous bracelet set. 3 gold bracelets, 1 white bracelet, and 1 pink bracelet come together with a slender bamboo design to create this lovely set that looks much more expensive than it is. And it goes perfectly with my new Michele watch! That’s right y’all, I finally caved and bought a Michele watch. Now this particular one is obviously one of their more affordable options, and when it went on sale, I was powerless against it.
Other BP pieces that have recently caught my eye include the following: these cork sling back sandals, this strapless maxi with great reviews (that comes in several colors and plus sizes), and these studded sandals.
Now for Carter’s outfit!
If it has a button and a zipper, Carter considers it church clothes. But don’t you worry, Captain Cozy always makes being comfy his top priority. He much prefers these Under Armour pieces to a regular pair of khakis and a button up, although I sometimes make him wear those too. Because sometimes in life you have to do hard things.
LIKE WEARING THINGS WITHOUT ELASTIC.
I will say, I do love that I don’t hear aggressive sighing when he puts on these church clothes.
He’s loving, smart, kind, and funny.
He makes me proud on a daily basis.
And listen, nobody mention to him that this picture made it on the blog m’kay? This boy really is as sweet as can be and oh so loving, BUT IN PRIVATE. About a year ago he decided that he was too old/cool for public displays of affection with his mama. But come on, I couldn’t pass up this pic.

So here’s how you will find us most of the time in the summer. I’m usually in a pair of denim shorts and a tee, and Carter is pretty much always in Under Armour or Adidas sets with NO BUTTONS and NO ZIPPERS.
I respect his commitment to supreme comfort.
Can you tell here that he was FREAKING out because some neighbor kids were walking by? We played it cool, but he could not wait for them to be out of sight.
My tee is Caslon, another house brand. You’ve seen me feature countless items from this brand over the years (maxi dresses, t shirt dresses, embroidered shirts, and regular ol’ tees to name just a few). Caslon also does a great job of being size inclusive.
This tee features eyelet detailing as well as flutter sleeves.
I’m wearing a small, and I love the super relaxed fit.
It comes in tons of colors and rings in at just $29. The navy or the light blue would be great for July 4th.
These white denim shorts are a great thickness, not see thru, and perfectly stretchy and comfy. I’m wearing my regular size 4s. Highly recommend.
Look how much style this UNDER $10 bandana adds to a simple cognac tote!!!
The tote is reversible (cognac or black), just under $50, and it holds my 15″ laptop. The bag is great for travel, but it also makes a wonderful and super affordable work bag, or just an everyday bag.
We talked about the watch before in the above outfit, but this is a different bracelet set! There’s 6 total bracelets in this set, 3 gold bangles and 3 multi-color beaded bangles! SO MUCH FUN! Also BP and also very affordable.
And here is Carter in his element.
#nobuttons #nozippers #nocollars #noproblems
These slide sandals are his absolute favorites. He doesn’t love a flip flop, but he totally digs a cushy slide.
I love this kid with every fiber of my being.
