A Book and a Magical Jacket

I have an EPIC clothing discovery to share with you guys.
EPIC I say.
But first,
It’s Sophie’s Book y’all!!!
And I’m telling you this book is LAUGH OUT LOUD & PEE YOUR PANTS funny.
I will never understand why she didn’t ask me to write her forward.

 Sophie sent some bloggers an early copy of the book,
and I heard some of the girls were really excited.
(One of those girls might have been me.  See below pic on the day I got the book.)

You girls might know Sophie as Boo Mama (she blogs HERE), and if you do already know her, then I’m quite sure you already love her.
The book is about “her people”….her stories (which are both heart-warming and hilarious)…her faith.
And it is FANTASTIC.
I read this book in the span of 2 days when I was at the ranch with my little family…
and I really don’t think I can put into words how much I enjoyed it.
I even read a certain little story aloud to 3 different groups of people 3 different times.
And I could barely get through it each time.
Pages 66-68.
There are no words to adequately explain the level of funny.

 Now that I’ve talked about A Little Salty To Cut The Sweet (aka the book that might call your bladder control into question)
I want to talk about my EPIC discovery.
Wait for it.
My new denim jacket looks perfect with just about 
any dress you put on with it.
No, it’s not poetic…but it’s TOTALLY true.

You guys already know that I am officially cuckoo for my new jacket.

I want to wear it constantly, so when I saw this picture on Pinterest, I knew I had to start pairing the jacket with dresses pronto. 
(For the record, still a Reese fan even after her unfortunate incident with the Po Po.)

If you are going to wear a jacket 5/7 days a week (which let’s just say may have happened last week at my house), you need to mix it up some.
After seeing Reese’s look, I searched “dresses with denim jackets” on Pinterest
for some more inspiration.
And this I now know for sure:  I LOVE a dress with a denim jacket.
And listen, no offense to any of the denim jackets below because a couple of them are pretty good
 (and I hate to be a denim jacket elitist)….
but I do feel as if OUR DENIM JACKET is far superior!  Don’t you ladies?
By the way….LOVE LOVE LOVE all of the e-mails and facebook messages I got this weekend about the jacket.  I knew you ladies would love it too!!  YOU ARE MY PEOPLE!

 So, I headed to LOFT to hopefully find some dress options.  And I hit the jackpot.
Here’s the one I came home with (ADORE!) , but I loved several others.

THIS is the jacket.

THIS is the dress.
ON SALE FOR $39.50 as of Wednesday morning!
The dress runs big, so I got the x-small and it was perfect. (It also comes in xxs.)
It’s worth noting that the dress feels like a nightgown.  No lie.
And this is just an aside, but if you are already an xxs and are sad that it might be too big for you because there isn’t an xxxs available, we don’t feel sorry for you.
THIS is the necklace.
I’m totally in love with this necklace.  It is a substantial necklace for a totally reasonable price.  It will look great with SO many things in your closet and it really makes a statement.  You really need to click HERE to see it up close with it’s turquoise, wood, and bling perfection (and to see how good it looks with a solid color t-shirt).

Speaking of the wedges…..
I got a great message from a friend on Friday night via facebook.
My sweet friend Claudia was at a party (I used to work with Claudia),
and this is what went down in Claudia’s words:
True story…..tonight I went to a party wearing my putty wedges &
was intro’d to a lady from a neighboring town. She compliments my shoes
and asks if I read this blog called Pinterest Told Me to?! I felt so
proud to say I know you, lol! You’re like a movie star! Crazy, small
world, huh? I kid you not, I took off my shoes & she tried them on,
along with 3 other ladies! She says she’s going home and buying the
shoes tonight!
 So…I want to give a shout out to…….
Sandy, Susan, and Nikki (who all have the wedges now too!), Shelley, Sherry, Jane, and Vicki!
Thanks for representing ladies!  🙂  LOVE IT!
And listen, you other ladies should just save yourselves some time and TRUST ME already!

Okay…back to the dresses.
SO MANY of us have this jacket now, that I thought it would be nice if I could find us a dress or 2 that would go nicely with it.
I know, it’s like I’m a public servant.

And I have to say, I was so impressed with how the jacket looked soooo freakishly cute with
 every single thing I put on with it!
I’m not kidding, it’s like this jacket has magical powers.
Magical MAKE EVERYTHING A LITTLE BIT CUTER powers.

How could you look at the above pictures and think you don’t need this jacket?  Right?

Okay, so #1 was my favorite.  I bought it on Friday, and I wore it to a graduation party for my cousin on Saturday (which if you are keeping track, is the 5th time I wore it in 9 days).
I have issues.
I’m aware.
#2 is actually the same dress as #1, just a different color and pattern.  I really liked it too!
It’s very flattering and oh so comfortable.
#3 is an old dress of mine (sorry!), but there is THIS dress here that is all white, and I think it’s a good option!
#4 was good, but I didn’t love it as much as I did the others.  Couldn’t find a link.
#5 was SUPER cute too and a little dressier than the others (more silky than cotton).
Every single one of these dresses looked FAB with the jacket and the wedges.
So, if you already have one or both of them, getting one of these dresses seems like no brainer to me!

I can never wear maxis b/c they are too long on my 5’4″ frame, but this one could work since it is petite!  Love the muted stripes, and I think it would look PERFECT with the light wash denim jacket!  But that’s no big news since everything looks perfect with it.

Okay…enough about that….in other news, my watch came in.
I could go on and on about my new watch.

The white ceramic band is so shiny and pretty, and the bling is perfectly blingy!

and had an absolute blast!

      Hi Megan! Your settings are set to "no reply", so I hope you check back here for you answer! Okay…..this is SO unlike me because I HATE HATE HATE paying shipping. (I ALWAYS select the free shipping option at GAP, even though I know it means it's going to take a sweet forever to get to me.) I feel like shipping is such a waste.
      However, if I would have found this jacket for $107 (the regular price plus your $37 for shipping to Australia), I still would have bought it. I mean, let's be real, I've already worn it 5 x in the first week so I'm already about to have my $$ worth out of it!
      So yes….I actually think it's worth it! (Which is crazy…but I do.) ha!

    Hi Sheaffer! I love your blog! So far I have heeded your advice and purchased J. Crew shorts and a denim button down, ha ha. 🙂 I am almost convinced about buying the jacket! I do have a random question for you… I am on the taller side (5'8'') with a long torso. Do you think this jacket would look good on tall people? It looks sort of cropped, and sometimes cropped things are odd on tall people. I need it to have the right amount of cropped-ness if you know what I mean. Thanks for your help!! 🙂

    avid, consistent, everysingle day- even if there's no new post- reader here!! 🙂 just wanted to let you know i purchased the super-famous, walking on clouds wedges in the yellow and absolutely. love. them! im a head teller at and bank and i tell you that to tell you- i wore them to work for the first time, all day– on shipment day– then headed my hiney to church that night – still in the awesome shoes, to play the piano, then to the beach with my family- all with.     Sophie is from my hometown and I graduated with her husband. I went to her book signing last Thursday here in town – she is the greatest!! And I do have to say, I told her that I read your blog and that you were causing meto have to get a second job due to all of the shopping MUSTS, lol! I told her that I had caved and bought "The Wedges". She asked were they comfortable? I told her YES and she must buy them! I hope I convinced her 🙂 But her book is so good and extra funny to me because I know some of those people. I know everyone will LOVE this book.
    Oh and I got my jean jacket yesterday -love it! the oatmeal blazer (yes I caved on it too) is on backorder (boo) but hopefully it will ship soon!
    Love this whole post and now I want that dress – ugh you must stop 😉 (she says as she already is gearing up in anticipation for the "shopping" series!)

    I got the jacket in the mail and I didn't realize it was QUITE so acid wash….my husband said, "is that from your high school days?" AHAHH! But I think it looks adorable with everything you have on! So I'm probably keeping it – I've been on the hunt for a good denim jacket for a while now. Thanks for doing the leg work! Also, I commented several weeks ago about TOMS being too flat and hurting my feet. You may have responded, but I couldn't find the old blog post. And I have my google account set so you cant reply to my email and I cant figure out how to change it!

All the ladies are talking about it when they come in… it is so awesome!" I nearly fell on the floor. We then proceed to talk about YOUR blog for almost 10 mins and how it is so addicting it just leaves you wanting more. So way down here in San Antonio your blog is the talk of the town!     I bought THE wedges with the denim button down tunic and wore both last Friday with white skinny pants. Compliments galore!

    THE denim jacket was delivered yesterday and I threw it on over my lounge dress (AKA the moomoo … what I put on when I get home from work that won't be seen in public) and THE JACKET MADE IT LOOK AWESOME!

    I also bought the linen jacket in Oatmeal but it's backordered.

    I can't wait to do a little Loft shopping so I can wear my new jacket with some cute dresses!

    I was going to try the white and denim look today, but it is going to be mid 90's here today and I can't do long sleeve. I love the denim shirt I got from Gap earlier this year, but I wonder if there are any cute short sleeve options out there???? Going to look now.

    I bought the jacket the day after you posted about it! I happened to be in Nordstrom and saw it. I also saw it comes in a darker wash (runs a little bigger) and a white denim (didn't try this one on). If anyone is trying them on in the store, try multiple jackets on of the same size, they all fit a little different!

    Also, I'm always looking for a new book to read! Can't wait to read this in the near future!

    I would love to read a book you recommend! I received the jacket a few days ago and have worn it twice. I also bought the Animal Ombre Print Sleeveless Dress from Ann Taylor and am considering wearing it to my 25th reunion with The Jacket. 🙂
    Any other reunion styles to consider? It's a mid-August event at a fun upscale bar/restaurant.

    I have a sad sad story to tell. I was in Nordstroms over the weekend and I saw the jacket and I ran to the jacket and I felt the jacket and I took the jacket off of the hanger and I started to love the jacket and then I tried it on and it didn't love me. I am petite but with a big chest so the jacket looked most unfortunate on me. I was so so sad…..

    Shaeffer~ I too have been looking for a denim jacket forever. I ordered this online because they didnt have any xs in the store. However, when it arrived it was MUCH more stiff then the one in the store. Super bummed!

    So I saw the wedges when I was in San Diego for spring break. Long before I read your post. Went with another pair. (which I also love). Kicked myself when I saw your post and I hadn't gotten them. Ordered them. Too small. Figured I'd take a chance and order up a size (apparently peoples feet don't stop at a 10.5. Only 10 or 11). They fit!! Love them. Now, as for the MK watch, got my first for Mother's Day. Don't you worry about bracelets around it scratching it? Perhaps I'm just paranoid.

    So I did as you said and ordered the jacket, it was just too adorable not to! I wasn't so sure it's magical powers would work on this 50-something year old (!) but it came today and, OMG, I must admit it looks great with EVERYTHING! I'm going on a trip this weekend and it looked great with everything I'm taking (maxi dress, colored jeans and white skinny jeans) and it's so comfy. Thanks for the advice, I'm a believer now!
