Today’s post is quite a bit different than most of the posts I do around here, but what isn’t different is my excitement level for what I’m about to share with y’all.
Today I’m not talking about any particular item, rather I’m talking about a service.
And not just any service…but a service that is saving me time, saving me money, and most importantly SAVING MY SANITY.
So….what is this magical service you ask?
It’s WALMART+.
And it’s awesome.

But even though there are SEVERAL benefits to a Walmart+ membership (seen in the bullet points above), IT’S THE GROCERY DELIVERY that puts the biggest smile on my face.
Walmart+ allows me to easily shop and GET MY GROCERIES TO DELIVERED TO ME without ever leaving the comfort of my home. It’s such a time saver! And with the pandemic, it also allows those to stay home that are immunocompromised and/or those that are continuing to be very vigilant with their decisions to minimize exposure.
There are both monthly and yearly membership options, but after signing up for the 15 day free trial, you can bet your Honeycrisp apples I went ahead and signed up for the year.

With my yearly membership, I will be able to enjoy perks of free two-day shipping on most Walmart products (with no minimum order total), free same-day grocery delivery for most orders (this was the game change for me!), fuel discounts, and I even avoid checkout lines with the in-store checkout feature on the app if I do ever find it necessary to go into the store.
SIGN. ME. UP.
Thanks to Walmart+, dreaded in-store shopping can now be a thing of the past!

Over the last 3 weeks, Walmart+ has made my life so much easier, AND IT CAN DO THE SAME FOR YOU!
FYI, my outfit is from Walmart! This sweat suit is so adorable that I grabbed it in the oatmeal too. The top is ON SALE for $14 and the bottoms are ON SALE for $12! What a deal! I’m wearing a medium in the top and a small in the bottoms. If you’re over 5’4″, the pants will most likely be too short on you, so keep that in mind.

So here’s what the process looks looks like for GROCERY DELIVERY.
You can order off of your computer, but I recommend downloading the Walmart app to you phone because you’ll find that the app will make things incredibly easy. Don’t worry, it’s free!
Hit “Start” and then choose “Pickup and Delivery.” Next, you will click “Reserve a Time” and you will be taken to a screen that looks like this. All 3 times I’ve done this, I’ve had the opportunity to choose same day delivery.
Then you just start shopping!
One way to shop is to search by item by typing the item in the search bar that you are looking for. You can see here that I wrote “corn” and it populated 188 items including fresh corn, canned corn, and frozen corn. When you find the item you want, you click the “add” button, and from there you decide the quantity.
The day I placed this order, I realized I didn’t have the fresh corn we needed for the shrimp boil we had planned to cook for dinner that night. I had a super busy day of tons of computer work at home, and I really didn’t want to have to stop to get out to go to the store, so delivery was perfect. I of course ended up adding on some other items to my order so I could get to the $35 order minimum which was super easy, AND 4 HOURS LATER I HAD FRESH CORN (among other things) on my front porch. #thankyouWalmart
One great feature is that you can favorite items while shopping. If you find that you get fresh corn every couple of weeks, favorite the item, and then you won’t have to search for it again. For future orders you can go to your favorites folder and quickly pick your faves that you find yourself ordering again and again. Basically, the first couple of times you place your order will take you longer than subsequent orders because Walmart will help streamline the process for you as it gets to know your shopping habits.
Another way to shop is to Browse by Department. In addition to the standard categories (ex. “meats and seafood”, “fruits and veggies”, “eggs and dairy”), they also have helpful specialty categories like “Special Diets”, “Game Time”, “Easily Family Meals”, and “Last Minute Grabs”. SO HELPFUL!
And check out this handy dandy little feature! After I placed my order, I got a text about an hour and a half later with possible substitutions. (When signing up, I had checked a box saying I did allow substitutions.) I had ordered Frozen Yogurt, but since it was out, they were offering to replace my frozen yogurt with the same flavor of ice cream. I was so happy that I had the opportunity to decline the substitution and wasn’t just stuck with the ice cream, which we wouldn’t have eaten.
I didn’t have to log on to my computer or answer a phone call, I simply clicked a link that was sent in the text message and declined the substitution right there from my phone.
GENIUS.
And how cool is this. Even after an order has been placed and submitted, there’s still a window where you can add items for a certain amount of time. On this particular day, I had placed the order on Sunday evening for Monday morning delivery. After we got in bed at like 10:00, we decided that we wanted to have taco salad on Monday night. So I grabbed my phone, opened the app, and added everything needed without any trouble.
I do think it’s important to talk about the fact that there is a place where you can leave an optional tip for the driver.
I like to think of the membership fee being what pays the person at Walmart to do my grocery shopping for me, and the tip is paying the driver to hand deliver the groceries to my front door. For this order, I had several large items including a case of water, a case of Dr. Pepper, toilet paper, paper towels, and a HUGE bag of dog food. It was so nice not to have to have a cart filled up with those large items and push them through the store. And it was even nicer to have them just waiting for me on my porch. The driver definitely deserved a tip for his work!
And at the end of the day, even with the tip, I’m quite sure I’m still saving money. The grocery store I used to frequent has higher prices than Walmart on most items, but I chose to still go there because it was closer to my house than Walmart. So even though I knew it was costing me more, the time I was saving was worth it to me. Now that I’m shopping Walmart+ and getting my groceries delivered, I’m saving time AND money!
I tell ya what, not having to go to the grocery store every week puts a big ol’ smile on my face.
I know this is crazy to some of y’all, but I’d only done grocery pick up 2x in my life. For some reason, I always had the feeling that if I was going to be driving to the store anyway, I might as well just get out of the car and hand pick exactly what I wanted. WELL. Now that I’m not having to drive the store, THE GROCERY GAME HAS BEEN CHANGED FOREVER for me.
I mean, will I still have to go to a grocery store on occasion? Definitely. When picking out steaks or salmon (two things we love to eat), I’ll still probably pop in to the store. But I’ve been very pleased with the produce that’s been delivered, so I’m not even scared about that anymore!
I feel strongly that the majority of my groceries will now be delivered. AND I’M STRAIGHT UP GIDDY.
And just for fun, I thought I would share a recipe today too.
When placing this particular grocery order, I decided to grab items to make Shay’s Sausage and Tortellini Soup. And I should say, it was SO EASY to have the recipe pulled up on my computer so I could quickly glance at the ingredients list and easily add the needed items to my virtual cart. It was SO MUCH easier than searching for items that aren’t normally on my list at a store and having to seek out what aisle they are on.
And look, I even grabbed a new pot! Last time we were at the ranch I had taken my big soup pot down there to make taco soup, and I accidentally left it there. Now, we’ll have one for here and one for the ranch.
This pot is extra cool because it has a built in (and removable) strainer for when you make pasta.
And listen, if you don’t have a ground meat chopper, you fix that right now. My friend Erika first told me about this guy, and when I say this little tool is life changing, I’m not even being the tiniest bit dramatic. If you don’t have one, fix that now.
Shay’s recipe didn’t call for cream cheese, but I added some. #becausecreamcheeseyall
I also substituted some of the tomato sauce for crushed tomatoes, just because I love a soup with chunks of tomatoes.
This is the tortellini I used. Shay’s recipe called for refrigerated tortellini (which I thought I was getting), but I ended up with dry tortellini instead. So, instead of cooking the tortellini in the soup at the very end (fresh tortellini cooks up so fast), I decided to cook the tortellini before the soup and then just add it at the very end. My way added an additional step (and an additional dirty pot), but I sure did love this brand of tortellini.
LOOK! HOW! DELICIOUS!
Thanks for the recipe, Shay! I will definitely be making this again.
I hope today’s post was informative and has encouraged you to give Walmart+ a try! I’m telling you, it’s been so incredibly helpful to me and I’m SO THANKFUL that this partnership pushed me to sign up for myself! I’m not sure if I would have taken the leap otherwise.
If you want to try it out too, click HERE to get to their membership page. As mentioned before, there’s a 15 day free trial you can easily sign up for if you’re just not sure.
Or maybe you are already convinced and want to sign up immediately! #igetthat #goodforyou
You can pay $98 for the year, or you can pay $12.95 for the month. If you sign up for the annual membership, that will save you $57.40 for the year, which is a savings of 37%. I went ahead and signed up for the full year.
I can tell you without any doubts that I will be using the heck out of this service. And I’ll be smiling from ear to ear because of it.
A huge thank you to Walmart and Shopstyle for sponsoring this post. AND AN EVEN BIGGER THANK YOU FOR DROPPING GROCERIES ON MY FRONT PORCH! I can tell you this, I’ll be shopping less and smiling more!

I’m so sad that my area doesn’t offer Wal-Mart delivery. Well it’s not offered to my house anyways. I would TOTALLY sign-up for this membership if they did. I’m so jealous of all of these reviews about grocery delivery!!! HAHA!!! Guess I just have to stick w/ grocery pick-up for now.
Sheaffer says
Oh, nuts. I’m SO SORRY, Julie! And I’m totally sad for you. Maybe they will in the future? Finger crossed!!!!! xoxo

YESSSSSSSSSS! My best friend couldn’t stop talking about it, so I signed up a couple of weeks ago. I HATE going to the grocery store, and I can’t believe how easy it is. This truly is a quality of life thing for me. It’s flipping awesome. I’ve been trying to convince my mom to sign up, so I’m going to send her this post.
Sheaffer says
Isn’t it the best, Elizabeth?!? And I agree about the quality of life thing. It sounds dramatic, but it’s true! I can’t even imagine how much time this is going to end up saving me over my lifetime!!! Hopefully this post will convince your mama to give it a try too. Nothing to lose with the FREE 15 day trial! xoxo 🙂

Walmart Delivery is one of my favorite things!
Kate says
So, how does this work – are you paying for your Walmart+ membership for yourself or is it being given to you? Maybe I am just a sceptic but when a post for a service like this is being sponsored by the service provider I have to wonder how that factors into the review being provided.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Kate! Good question! You are right in that the post was sponsored, so I was compensated for writing it. However, as with all sponsored posts, I only agree to do them if I can get behind the item/service. I hope you can tell from this post that I am GENUINELY excited about Walmart+ and the service it provides. Having groceries show up on my front porch has truly been a game changer for me. And I can tell you that this will be a yearly membership that I will definitely pay for on my own once it comes up for renewal, even without a sponsored post. Now that I’ve used it, I cannot imagine ever not using it. Please let me know if you have any other questions! 🙂

Wanted to comment as we’ve been doing WM delivery since Nov–first used it when we needed a soccer ball quickly. We haven’t looked back. LOVE the fact that I can add to my list throughout the week. Once I make substitutions, WM remembers what I’ve said yes/no to previously. If I get someone from a substitution that I didn’t like, they very easily refunded my $. Also, we live in a hot climate and have never had a problem with the food not being cold/icy cold. I know the drivers aren’t required to have refrigeration, but I’ve made a note and think they either drive very fast or throw it in a cooler on the way over! The timesaving is enough for me to think this is worthwhile. I would literally take at least 90 min (driving/shopping/etc.) every time I went to WM. Now there are a few things they don’t have (or aren’t available after I’ve ordered), but that makes my trips to the local market even faster. So glad you’ve found it useful and LOVE the puppies peeking out from behind you in the pics.
Sheaffer says
YES, NADINE! Instead of adding items I need to my notes in my phone, I just add them to my cart thru the app. IT’S AMAZING AND I LOVE IT AND I’M NEVER GOING BACK. So happy you love it too. We’re so smart. 😉 xoxo

Well, I’m officially obsessed with those slippers!

I use Walmart Grocery pick up twice a week and love it. I tried delivery a time or two prior to the Walmart Plus membership option because they offered it to me free a couple of times. Here is my question. With pick up I can refuse substitutions if I don’t like them but with deliver they didn’t know how to handle that. I thought maybe it was a new process for them and hadn’t worked the kinds out. Have they got a way to handle that now with the Plus program? Most of the time the substitutions make sense and are great. But sometimes you get something a little off and I need to refuse it.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Stacy! YES, they’ve worked that out! I even have a screen shot in the post (with Ben and Jerry’s ice cream) explaining how you get a text message asking if certain substitutions are approved and you simply click “don’t replace” or “approve”. I refused the ice cream substitution because I only wanted the frozen yogurt. It’s so convenient and I do it all from my phone. It’s AMAZING!!!! xoxo
Stacy says
Thank you for answering me even though I totally got caught skimming:). Now I see where you addressed that exact issue and it looks like they’ve totally got that figured out now!
Sheaffer says
No worries, Stacy! I get it, it was a reallllllllllly long post. 🙂

You’re not kidding, Walmart+ has changed my life. I signed up for the free trial a couple of months ago, and then I signed up for the year, and then I got my mom, my sisters, and 2 friends to sign up too. My favorite part is how I can just add stuff to my cart whenever I think about it, even after my order is placed. A couple of times they’ve even substituted larger items (for smaller items that were out of stock) and they just charge me for the smaller item I ordered. I’ve never had any trouble with the order and like you, it just makes me happy.
Sheaffer says
YES, Johannah!!!! It’s just so good. 🙂 xoxo
Gail Wilson says
I’m thinking I need that darling green sweat suit! What’s the softness factor on it? I have skin sensitivities and anything that isn’t super soft makes me nuts!!
Now if only Trader Joes had a delivery service – a girl can dream!!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Gail! It’s not the softest thing I’ve had on my body (it’s not lined with fleece), but I do think it’s soft. However, if you have skin sensitivities, some of the seams in the shoulder area might bother you. Hope this helps! xoxo
Gail Wilson says
Thanks so much for the intel! They look to be a great buy, but, yes, exposed seams might prove crazy-making!! ?
Brandye says
Sheaffer,
Thanks for the information about Walmart+. I’ve been on the fence about it. However, I was doing curbside years before the pandemic, with HEB and Walmart…and Chick-fil-a. I called it Princess Shopping, and NONE of my friends were surprised. LOL
I have a question about something else entirely…how did you hang the tray over your cooktop? I have tile as well and the tray looks so pretty!
Thanks,
Brandye
Sheaffer says
Hi, Brandye! I used command strips! So easy and it’s stayed for years!!!! xoxo
Julee says
I’m excited to try that pot and the hamburger meat chopper! I love the fact I won’t have to put my big colander in the dishwasher every time I make pasta!
Sheaffer says
RIGHT???? Omg, Julee! The chopper is amazing, and I’m so excited about the pasta pot too! xoxo
Francesca says
You haven’t mentioned how EASY it is to return items from your order. I have been using this service since it started and before the pandemic because I had a newborn at home. If by chance your raspberries get crushed or your protein bars taste off you can so easily return and if it’s a food item they usually say to just keep the item. If it’s something else you’ll need to return to the store. But we’ve all been there when shopping at the store, getting home and something isn’t right… usually you just don’t bother to do anything but with this app you are always 100% satisfied. Also when you are in your house and realize dang we are out of (fill in the blank) you can add to your cart on your app right away and it’s your running grocery list… #changeslives lol PS I swear I made Shay’s soup with this exact tortellini substitution before ? true story!!!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Francesca! I haven’t had to make any returns yet, so this is definitely good to know. But YES to the running shopping list. I love that feature so much. And how good is that tortellini!!!!!!!
