Happy Wednesday! It’s time for everybody to join up today with Shay and me and let us know WHAT’S UP with you this fine Wednesday!

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
What am I excited about?
That’s easy.
THESE SHORTS and THIS SHIRT.
Let’s talk about the shorts! I mean, I’m not getting any younger, and I knew I wanted to add some shorts to my closet this summer that weren’t denim cut-offs. These are just what I was looking for!
They are a lightweight linen with pull on styling, so they are super comfortable. The perfect rise, the perfect elastic waist with a functional drawstring, and the perfect length. The link says they are a 4″ inseam, but they definitely seem longer on. They’re classy and casual, but they can easily be dressed up or down. These are the “flax”, but they also come in white, a blue stripe, and a pink stripe. I think the flax is perfection. I’m afraid that the white might be too sheer, but they are worth a try if you’re specifically looking for a pair of white shorts. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium for a relaxed fit.
I’m wearing them here with a classic button-up for a totally chic look. And great news! The button-up is ON SALE! This is a great closet staple that will look fabulous styled in lots of different outfits. I’m wearing a small in the top, so I would suggest sizing down for sure. It also comes in a neutral stripe, a blue, a navy, a blush, and a pale blue stripe.

And since the top is on sale, I’ve got some more looks with the it. Remember to size down (I’m wearing the small above).
Pairing it with these striped drawstring pants was a no brainer. And the pants are ON SALE too!

And it’s so cute with denim and sneakers…

WHAT I’M WEARING
For this month’s segment of “What I’m Wearing”, I’m doing a loose interpretation. I’m not actually showing things that I’ve been wearing, but I AM showing things that y’all have been requesting.
This is graduation, Mother’s Day, and shower and wedding season… so I’ve had lots of recent requests for dress recommendations.
We’re going to kick off the dress parade today with this fabulous dress that is beautifully made and UNDER $40. It’s 100% cotton WITH POCKETS, has a great little split neck, subtle puff sleeves, a drawstring waist, an eyelet pattern, and a ruffled skirt. Oh, and it’s fully lined! It’s DARLING. I fell in love with this vibrant “bright red tomato” (a red/orange combo), but it also comes in classic black and white. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. I needed a medium for the chest, but a small would have been fine otherwise.

There are limited sizes available in this dress, so you better jump on it if you want it! I’m totally smitten with the colors, the pattern, the fit, and the longer sleeves! But seriously… the colors and pattern! For size reference, I’m wearing a medium, but I think a small would have been just fine.

This dress is so me. The flutter sleeves, the split neck, the relaxed fit, the pockets, the tiny pleats all along the ruffled skirt… I LOVE EVERY DETAIL! It’s 100% organic cotton and fully lined with fabric covered buttons. For size reference, I’m wearing a small, so I would suggest sizing down. This dress is pricey, but I’m keeping it. I love it and I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of it.

This linen blend top is a relaxed fit and has an easy breezy feel to it. It’s a muted stripe and just feels summery! I showed it a couple of weeks ago with patch pocket denim shorts, but it would be great with white denim too. And check this out…this matching skirt makes it into an adorable set. I’m wearing a medium in the top (it’s quite roomy), and I’m wearing a small in the skirt… but I actually think I could go down a size in both. The skirt runs quite big since even the small has room on me, so keep that in mind if you order. You really might want to order down 2 full sizes in the skirt. There’s elastic across the entire back of the band, so it’s very forgiving.

And just in case you don’t love a matching set, look how cute the skirt is styled with a tee and denim jacket!

Maybe the looks above seem familiar because I made outfit planning collages on them a couple of weeks ago!

This dress caught my eye when browsing Amazon, but I wasn’t sure how it was going to fit and if I was going to like it in person. Well, the fit is so fun (super swingy and relaxed), and I happen to love it! I showed it last week in a neutral colorway and couldn’t resist ordering it in a bolder colorway. It was very wrinkled right out of the package, but I sprayed it with my wrinkle releaser and it pulled the wrinkles out beautifully. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

Here’s the neutral dress from last week…

Everything about this dress is special, but I love the color combo, the square neckline, and the rickrack trim the most. It’s pull-on styling, which is pretty much a requirement for me in a dress. I find if a dress zips up, it almost always doesn’t on me. Haha! The back on this one is elastic, so the sizing is forgiving and the dress is comfy. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

And how cute is this dress! I’m telling you, if you put rickrack on it, I want it. This one is pull-on styling with elastic across the back as well. It also comes in white with a vibrant blue rickrack that is GORGEOUS and totally vacation ready. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

WHAT I’M EATING
A Velvet Taco opened up very near to us a couple of weeks ago, and I was able to sign up to be a part of their soft opening. I got to choose a bowl and some tacos to try them out, and OH MY YUMMY. I got the brisket bowl, and it was absolutely delish. Do you see those tortillas in the back, I don’t know exactly what they were, BUT THEY WERE PERFECTION. They were kind of soft, kind of crunchy, and they were baked with some type of cheese on them. The bowl had rice, black beans, corn salsa, Pico de Gallo, guacamole, and brisket.
I think I might have shared this before, but I put it back in my lunch rotation so I thought I would share again. On this plate you see leftover salmon, fresh avocado, fresh tomatoes, some pickles, and a couple of spoonfuls of the Trader Joe’s artichoke and jalapeno dip. I take a Trader Joe’s reduced fat pita chip, spread a little dip on top, and then pile it high with different toppings. It’s a great light summer lunch.
If you’ve got a Trader Joe’s near you, stop what you’re doing and go and grab several bags of these Pink Lady Cinnamon Sugar Apple Chips. They taste like a light and crispy apple pie.

WHAT I’M LOVING
After we lost Buddy, my sweet friend (and neighbor) Shara had a watercolor commissioned for us from a local artist. You can only imagine the tears that flowed when we opened it.
That’s the picture of Buddy (on the left) that served as the inspiration, and that’s the watercolor on the right. Isn’t it incredible!!! We will treasure this forever.

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT
It’s been about 6 weeks when we lost our sweet boy, and we all continue to miss him so very much. We flip through pics and share memories all the time. Here are some of the more recent pics….
Look at that smile!!!
These were taken just last November at their (and our) happy place.
This last picture was the morning we said goodbye.
Buddy Sims, we will love you forever.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
We spend a good portion of each day pouring out lots and lots of love on Charlie. Some days he seems okay, and some days he seems really sad. Some days he eats like normal, and some days he doesn’t seem interested in eating. We definitely worry about him, and we are doing whatever we can to make him as happy as possible, which includes walking him 3x a day now (sometimes 4). Whatever it takes!
He’s just so sweet.

WHAT I’M WATCHING
Did y’all watch American Idol on Easter Sunday? If you didn’t, then you definitely need to head to social media and/or YouTube to catch some of the absolutely incredible performances. It was a 3 hour “Songs of Faith” special, and it was so moving.
Jelly Roll and Brandon Lake sang Hard Fought Halleluiah. Watching Jelly Roll and his newfound boldness for his faith makes me smile every time.
CeCe Winans and Roman Collins sang CeCe’s new single Come Jesus Come. It’s definitely worth a listen. I love the lyrics, and they are both wildly talented and clearly love the Lord.
And then Carrie Underwood brought the house down with the most anointed performance of How Great Thou Art. It was so beautiful that I cried.

WHAT ARE MY RECENT AMAZON PURCHASES
I finally took the plunge and grabbed a grounding sheet for me and Chris. We will do anything to help increase our sleep health, and we’ve read so much about the benefits of grounding sheets that we knew we had to try. We only put it on the bed 3 days ago, but I do feel like I’m sleeping more deeply! I need more time with it to give a full review, but I’m very hopeful we are going to notice some real and lasting benefits.
I got the travel size of the St. Tropez self-tanner and mitt because I ran out of tanner and needed some the next day. Even though the Dolce Glow is my favorite tanner, I knew the St. Tropez would arrive next day! Thanks heavens for Prime!
And I never like to be low on Miss Mouth’s stain spray, because as soon as I’m out of it I need it. I was getting low, so I went ahead and ordered another bottle. If you’ve never tried this spray, GET IT NOW. I can’t think of one time it hasn’t worked on a stain. Seriously, I think it’s worked every dang time on every dang stain I’ve ever put it up against.

A couple things…1. I had THAT SAME BOWL at Velvet Taco and thought it was DELISH! 2. That picture of Buddy is incredible!! 3. I’ve never heard of a grounding sheet. Tell me MORE!
Sheaffer says
So I don’t fully understand how a grounding sheet works, but the reviews people have are incredible. You literally plug in the flat sheet to the grounding hole on an outlet and let the magic happen. I copied this off of a health and wellness website: A grounding or earthing sheet is a bedsheet designed to help you “ground” while you sleep. The concept behind grounding sheets is based on grounding or “earthing”—the idea that connecting with the earth’s electrical field can positively affect our health. These sheets contain conductive materials, often silver or carbon threads, that allow for a low-level electrical connection with the ground, simulating the effects of walking barefoot on the ground. The goal of a grounding sheet is to bring your body into direct contact with the earth’s energy, potentially helping to restore balance to your body’s natural electrical state. As a result, users often report improved sleep, reduced stress, and relief from chronic pain.
