WHAT WE ARE EATING 

Y’all. We’ve been eating out a lot. Like way more than we should.

I only have a handful of items to share with y’all today because of the apparent restaurant hopping that we’ve been doing.

These steamed chicken soup dumplings from Trader Joe’s are unbelievable. I LOVE THEM. You just pop them in the microwave and enjoy.

Do y’all remember seeing this meal last month? Carter and I have been eating it on repeat all summer.

I air fry the salmon with Magic Salmon Seasoning for like 7 minutes, I sauté the fresh green beans in olive oil and my favorite seasoning blend (kosher salt, pepper, lemon pepper, and garlic powder), and then I microwave a packet of Trader Joe’s jasmine rice. The TJ’s rice is a new find for me, and we can’t get enough of it. It comes out perfectly every time! Oh, and the whole family is obsessed with the Japanese Barbecue Sauce. We usually buy it at Costco in really big bottles, but we were out of it and not planning on going to Costco for a bit, so I paid a lot more for it HERE on Amazon.

And for a variation of the above meal, we switch out the salmon for Trader Joe’s orange chicken (found in the frozen food aisle). You just put a little oil in pan, throw the chicken in, and make sure you have the heat up high enough for the chicken to get crispy. After it’s crispy, you put the sauce on top and create some magic.

WHAT I’M WORKING ON

Friday is my last Nordstrom Anniversary Sale post before the sale ends on Sunday!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO

We’ve been to the ranch a lot this summer, like almost every single weekend. We’ve hosted lots of different groups of both friends and family, and we’ve had a blast. This pic was from a couple of weeks ago at the Sims family reunion.

These two have gotten reallllllllllllly used to having people around all summer. They are going to be so sad when school starts.

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT

This popped up on my phone last week and it just about took my breath away. Look at this blonde baby boy!!!

And look at him now!

I could bawl.

He turns 16 in September, so we’re doing lots and lots of driving to get in lots and lots of practice these last couple of months. I would say he’s really turned a corner in the last two weeks, and I feel pretty dang confident with him behind the wheel now! (THANK HEAVENS, because it was touch and go for a bit!) 🙂 Haha!

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT

Okay, y’all. I don’t know how many times I can say this, but Walmart continues to surprise the heck out of me.

I have a handful of new pieces to show you today, and then I also have some favorites to show that are on rollback and the new lower prices are going to straight up shock you.

I actually showed this dress on Monday in an outdoor shot, but I know that some of you prefer mirror selfies.

I love this dress. The everyday low price of $32 is a total steal for a dress with this style and of this quality.

It’s 97% cotton with 3% spandex, so it has the perfect amount of stretch and give. The puff sleeves, the pleats at the neck, the sash at the waist, I love it ALL. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. I do think it runs big, so I would suggest sizing down if between sizes. I need the room in my chest, so I went with the medium (I could have gone with the small otherwise). It also comes in white and olive. It’s not lined, so I would be worried about the white possibly being see-thru.

If leopard isn’t your thing, this dress comes in several floral patterns as well. I’m wearing a medium.

This one is so simple, but still chic! I like the deep v, the longer sleeve, and the tiered bodice. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. You can’t beat the $13 price tag.

AND NOW FOR THE ROLLBACK ITEMS!

THIS DRESS IS NOW $14!!! AND THE CARDIGAN IS NOW $11!!!

I’m completely smitten with both the cardigan and the dress.

The poplin mini dress is FABULOUS. It’s 97% cotton with 3% spandex, so it has the perfect amount of stretch in it. It’s a lightweight poplin that I’m in love with. It’s got a great plunging v neckline (but it’s not too revealing), and the tiered hem and pleating are perfection. AND IT HAS POCKETS! This feels very much like a J Crew or Anthropologie dress to me. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. IT IS $14.

This short sleeve cardigan is super soft, super cute, and super affordable. I love the little pleats on the shoulder, and I know that this is a piece that I now happily own in 3 colors. I have the stripe, I have this red, and you’ll see in just a sec that I got the white too. AND Y’ALL. IT’S $11.

I’m getting this shirt specifically to wear with a white tee, leggings, and sneakers. I think it’s going to be perfect.

These sneakers are under $15, and I think they look very similar to the super popular Gazelles. They are kid’s sizes, but if you wear a women’s 7 or under, they will still work for you. When converting from a woman’s size to a kid’s size, you go down 1.5 sizes. Now, these don’t come in half sizes, so if you’re typically a half size, you’re going to have to make a choice.

I’m normally a 6 1/2, so I ordered the 5s.

I also like the navy and white and the white and hot pink.

WHAT I’M WATCHING

Y’all.

Some friends told me about Presumed Innocent last week. Chris and I started watching it on Thursday night, and we finished the season on Monday night. It was FANTASTIC.

WHAT ARE MY RECENT AMAZON PURCHASES

• I finally ordered 1 final gel infused memory foam mattress topper for the last remaining bed in our home that didn’t have one. It has over 100,000 reviews, and the great majority are 5 stars. Just grab one for one of your beds to try it out, and I’m betting some of you will end up getting them for all of your beds like me. If you have a kid going off to college, you definitely need to send them off with one!

 

• This colorful necklace! I’m so excited to receive it! I love how it’s layered here!

• This mirror has thousands of 5-star ratings, you can illuminate it by touching the mirror itself, and there’s a normal reflection on one side and 10x magnification on the other. You will be both ecstatic and horrified at what you see. BUT IT’S NECESSARY.
