Happy Friday, everybody! Glad you’re here, and I hope you are well today.
Today’s post is short and sweet, but I’m super excited about it. I added two new pieces to my closet a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been chomping at the bit to share them with you because they are so SO good.
The drawstring shorts and the studded sandals that you are going to see in all 3 of today’s outfits are the pieces that I’m flipping out over. And if I know y’all, and I think I do, y’all are gonna flip too.
Gosh, I love it when we flip out over things together.
More on the shorts and the sandals in a minute, but we are going to talk about the outfit from top to bottom. I love the relaxed vibe of the entire look and feel like it is very me.
Let’s start at the top. I really like my new slouchy v neck tee, but the stock is incredibly low, so I don’t want to spend time talking about this specific top.
Instead, I want to give you a couple of options for other black tees that would look great with these shorts. You can click HERE for an adorable black tee option with flutter sleeves, and you can click HERE for another simple v neck option.
The jewelry is classic, and the soft pretty green adds some really nice color to the outfit.
I’ve been wearing this necklace combination almost exclusively for the last several months, but the sea green hoop earrings are a new addition.
Okay, let’s talk about the shorts.
I’m absolutely giddy about these shorts.
First of all, they have an elastic waist.
Second of all, they are super comfy. #helloelasticwaist
And always a top priority of mine, they are very flattering. They hang nicely, and I’m a big fan of the relaxed fit. For size reference, I’m wearing a small. I would suggest sizing down if between sizes. When laundering these shorts, I wash them as normal, and then I hang to dry.
They appear to be well stocked in the olive green as well. And there’s not many left, but there’s a chambray option HERE.
I. LOVE. THESE. SHORTS.
It’s sandal time.
Check out these fabulous studded sandals. I was immediately drawn to the neutral version, but they also come in classic black, a funky clear, and an edgy snakeskin.
I don’t usually love a strap across my ankle in a flat sandal because I feel like it cuts me off and makes my legs look short, but that’s not an issue with these at all because of the neutral color! They have a cushioned sole, are true to size for me, and are quite comfortable which is an absolutely MUST for me in a shoe. It seems from reading the reviews that if you have a wider foot, you might consider ordering up a 1/2 size.
They are different than any sandals I’ve ever owned, AND I LOVE THEM. They’ve added some fun to my wardrobe, and I’ve been getting complimented on them like crazy. I can’t wait to keep styling them.
I felt great running around town in this outfit, but it’s also a perfect work from home outfit. An outfit like this enables you to feel put together, while also allowing you to be quite comfy the entire day.
And in true STMT fashion, you know I’ll almost always throw a denim jacket on top.
The $79 I spent on this jacket might very well be the best $79 I’ve ever spent. I’ve worn the heck out of it over the last 7 years, and I truly can’t imagine my closet without it. If you were to do a cost per wear analysis, I’m quite sure it started paying me to wear it a couple of years ago. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium in the jacket.
We haven’t talked about the bag yet, and it’s so cute! It’s a great medium size with neutral color blocking, which makes it very versatile. The cross body strap is removable, and I love the square handle which allows you to carry it more as a clutch if you wish. (For this pic, I just shoved the strap into the bag, but it can be taken off very easily.)
I wanted to show you the exact same outfit, but with a white tee instead of a black tee.
Another great look with the white Madewell tee most of y’all probably already have. Most of you probably have the jacket too…..so just add the shorts and the sandals, and you’ve got yourself an awesome new outfit!
And to show you that you can also mix in some pattern and color with the shorts, I paired this split neck blouse with them.
The blouse is lightweight, breezy, and a great bohemian floral pattern. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
And because they deserve another look, the studded sandals. They just make me feel cool. Ha!
If you haven’t previously given Nordstrom house brands a try, I hope this post encourages you to do so because the shorts, the bag, the black tee, and the patterned blouse are all house brands! I have to say, they have absolutely become some of my favorite brands to shop. They are the brands that I often search first on the site, and I’m always quite pleased with the quality and affordability. Combine that with Nordstrom’s FREE SHIPPING (with no minimum) and their top notch customer service (it’s THE BEST), and they have a customer for life in me.
I’m curious. What are you flipping out over more? The darling, comfy, and flattering shorts? Or the fabulously edgy sandals? Sound off in the comments!
A huge thank you to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.
