Have you been reading this season’s Bachelorette recaps? If not, take a minute to catch up! I’m telling you, you don’t want to miss a moment of the absolute lunacy of it all. However, I do have to say that last week was a learning experience for me, and probably for all of us. We learned the importance of good skincare and preventative creams (thanks to a guest appearance by Wayne Newton), we saw that it is in fact possible for a man to have enough personal confidence to proudly wear a bermuda shorts floral pantsuit (#wheninvegas), and we got to witness what must be THE WORST DATE LOCATION in the history of ever. A hot tub….with wine…..in the middle of the desert….after a camel ride. #nothankyou
The group headed to Virginia this week, and I don’t know if you know this, but Virginia is for psychotic control freaks. Just kidding. It’s for lovers. Virginia is for Lovers. That’s what the tourism board tells us anyway. “Virginia is for Psychotic Control Freaks” just doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.
Today’s recap is going to be a little bit different than the norm. It’s short and sweet because there are sparklers to be lit and hot dogs to be eaten. Nobody has time to read a long recap because there is TOO MUCH FUN to be had! I PRESENT TO YOU…My Top 5 TAKE AWAYS from The Bachelorette: Episode 6.
TAKE AWAY #1
This is an important one. Harrison can freaking ROCK a zip up cardi. I felt like it needed to be said.
TAKE AWAY #2
I kind of love Jason. Even though he looked like a Back Street Boy on their date. #backstreetsbackallright
Jason hasn’t even been on my radar, but he sure did grab my attention this week. He got the first 1:1 and they just hopped around Virginia together doing Virginia-y things. And then she surprised him at a pub with his friends from home. He got teary when he saw them, and then I got teary. It was obvious how much these guys genuinely care for each other, and you could tell it made Becca like Jason even more.
At dinner that night, he shared a sweet (and heartbreaking) story about watching his dad interact with his grandmother when she had Alzheimer’s, and Becca shared about losing her dad at 19. These two just work well together. If they wanted to get engaged, I would allow it.
TAKE AWAY #3:
CHRIS. IS. CRAY.
And not like an endearing type of cray.
Not like he’s a little quirky, but loveable….more like hide your kids, hide your wife.
So you remember how I compared Chris to Chandler’s roommate Crazy Eddie? WELL. Crazy Eddie should be offended. Chris is spiraling. Fast.
It started out when he was arguing with Lincoln in the first 3 minutes of the episode. I’m not even sure what it was about, but Chris asked Lincoln to produce “historical data”, Lincoln apparently body shamed Chris and told him to stop being a cry baby, and the other guys sat around in total disbelief. The looks of shock and awe from the guys were hysterical because both boys were being immature and completely ridiculous. Another observation: Lincoln barely opens his mouth when he talks.
Things escalated even further when the group date headed to the capital for a good old fashioned debate.
While on the steps of the capital….dressed in a suit… behind a podium….in front of tons of people (including women and children)….Chris dropped an F bomb. Becca was not impressed. You could tell she was definitely hopping on the CHRIS IS CRAY TRAIN. #allaboard
TAKE AWAY #4:
I spent a large portion of the episode trying to imagine Leo without his long hair. I absolutely cannot get past the hair. At one point I even went so far as to put place my hands so that they were covering his hair and I could get a look at his face without the mane.
Here is what I concluded: The man has a strong jaw line, when it’s not being softened by loose tendrils. But let’s be honest, I’m just jealous. I WANT HIS HAIR. It’s shiny, healthy, and the stuff my 1988 body wave dreams were made of. Even though my mom never let me get one. #thanksalotmom
TAKE AWAY #5:
So Take Away #3 was that CHRIS IS CRAY.
Take Away #5 is that CHRIS IS WHACK. And intense. And manipulative. And controlling. And a little bit scary.
The cray and whack really came out when he decided to head over to Becca’s hotel and give her a surprise visit. He pretty much declared his love for her, and she was all thank you, but no thank you. She told him that it wasn’t going to work out, and then she showed him the door. Even though he INSISTED that he didn’t need her to walk him out, she did anyway because she felt he deserved that respect. I enjoyed that Becca was modeling good behavior for him. Although I’m quite sure she did it just to make sure the wackadoo ex boyfriend was actually going to leave her hotel room. #goodcall #smartgirl I tell you what, I LIKE BECCA A WHOLE LOT. She’s down for a good time and seems as sweet and genuine as can be, but she doesn’t mess around. #imafan
I will say that after writing this recap, I saw somewhere on social media that Chris had written a formal apology and was owning up to his bad behavior. Good for him. I like when people can admit their mistakes. And let’s be real, I bet all of us have been a little wackadoodle at some point in our lives. Lucky for us, it wasn’t nationally televised.
Lincon and Connor didn’t get a rose. So, the guys remaining were Colton, Blake, Garrett, Wells, Jason, and Leo.
BONUS TAKE AWAY #6
If Connor would have unbuttoned his shirt and put on his glasses a little earlier, he might still be around. He was giving me serious Clark Kent vibes.
And who doesn’t love Superman.
Three things before you go…
1) I want to share an e-mail I recently from a reader. Or maybe it was a blog comment. Heavens, I can’t remember. But here is what Cori had to say:
If you’ve said it once, you’ve said it a million times…the BEST strapless bra eva’ is the Red Carpet Convertible Strapless Bra by WACOAL. It only took me a year or so to bit the bullet and buy the $65.00 bra. Geesh, my girls didn’t know what they were missing!!! This bra truly is amazing. Everything just stays in place. I think I could almost do jumping jacks or cartwheels and the sucker wouldn’t move. Thanks Sheaffer for always being right. – Cori
Cori, I hate to say I told you so….#butitotallytoldyouso. I’m SO HAPPY you love it! And I have to say, this bra might be what I get the most e-mails about each week! Check out Leo’s IMDB photos. A few of him with short hair that are pretty cute.
Lisa K says
Jason has been my favorite from the beginning. He just seems so genuine and down to earth. He reminds me of Andrew Shu from “Melrose Place”, which is really dating me!
Kara says
I couldn’t resist the sale price so I ordered the J Crew PJs in navy and they are sooooo comfy! The fabric is super soft and my usual size M was just right. Thanks for the super recommendation.
