The tarte 7 Piece Custom Kit Event

STEP 1) CHOOSE YOUR COMPLEXION

I’ve tried several of tarte’s foundations (all choices for Step 1) and liked them fine, but I was excited to see this new tinted moisturizer, so I grabbed it without hesitation.  AND Y’ALL.  I LOVE IT.

The whipped texture is different than any other foundation or tinted moisturizer I’ve ever used.  It goes on feeling so light, and it gives great coverage, but it doesn’t look or feel heavy on my skin. It also evens out my skin tone and gives a smooth finish that I’m really digging. It feels light and fluffy, but it gives great texture without looking cakey.  I thought the medium shade I got was going to be too dark when I first started putting it on, but once I blended it all in, I think it looks great for summer.

Also, it’s an oil free formula and it has SPF20 built in.

I apply it with my finger tips with great results, but I am interested in trying this brush (created to be used with this specific tinted moisturizer).

STEP 2) CHOOSE YOUR FACE PRODCUCT

There are tons of choices for Step 2 including blushes, highlighters, concealers, finishing powders, and bronzers, just to name a few.  Choosing the timeless smoothing primer was an easy decision for me because I’ve been hearing great things about it for a couple of years now.  My friend Cassie uses it and loves it, and she compares it to a primer I’ve told her about before that I love because it does a great job of “filling in” my pores.  Well, she was right when she said that this product does the same thing.  It’s seriously amazing.

It smooths the appearance of not just pores, but fine lines & wrinkles as well.  It also creates a beautifully smooth canvas for the application of the rest of your makeup.  It’s so nice and light, it doesn’t crease, and it really does seem to improve the staying power of my makeup as well.

And to be honest, I also liked the idea of including it in my kit simply because of the value.  This primer is regularly $39, so I knew I was getting a fantastic deal by putting it in the kit (with 7 items for only $63!).

STEP 3) CHOOSE YOUR EYE PRODUCT

For step 3, you can choose between brow gel, shadow pots, eyeliners, brow pomade, and eye base.  It was a no brainer for me. If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you know I’m newly obsessed with filling in my brows.  I have no idea why I haven’t been doing this until now because it makes such a difference!

Below you will see a couple of their eyebrow products, but the clear winner for me is the frameworker brow pomade (that’s in the little pot).  I went with the “medium brown” shade and it’s perfect.  I already owned a brow brush and spoolie, but tarte has a great one that’s perfect for applying the pomade if you don’t have one.  You dip the brush into the pomade and use the angled brush to mimic your natural hair and then you use the spoolie to blend it all in to your brows!

Here’s the honest truth, now that I’m accustomed to filling in my brows, I feel naked without my eyebrows!  Even if I’m not wearing makeup, I feel better when I fill in my brows and sweep on some lip gloss.

STEP 4)  CHOOSE YOUR MASCARA

There are 9 mascaras to choose from for Step 4, and I went with the surfer curl volumizing mascara.  I have several friends that swear by this mascara, and this was the perfect opportunity to throw it in my bag since I’ve always wanted to give it a try.  I think of this as giving a whispy look to my lashes, and I love it. It lengthens and separates, and it’s not chunky or clumpy at all.  I do not enjoy a chunky mascara.  Also of importance, it doesn’t smudge or flake!  Like it doesn’t smudge or flake AT ALL.

Check out the difference with the mascara and eyeliner on one eye and without on the other eye.  (FYI:  My eyeliner is HERE and could be chosen for Step 3.)  You should also notice that one eyebrow is filled in and the other one isn’t.  I’m absolutely in love with the eyebrow pomade from Step 3.

STEP 5)  CHOOSE YOUR LIP

When checking out all of your lip choices, there are several different kinds of glosses and lipsticks to choose from.  I went with the H20 gloss.  I chose the shade “Bahamas” for my lip kit, but I already had and love the shade “Hang Ten” (also pictured below, but not available for the kit).

The H20 gloss is a HIGH SHINE gloss with fantastic reviews.  It’s not sticky, and it keeps my lips soft and hydrated, which is a nice bonus.  I’m wearing “Bahamas” at the bottom of the post when I show my full face of makeup if you want to see what it looks like.

STEP 6)  CHOOSE YOUR SKINCARE OR BRUSHES

For Step 6, you can choose between skin care and brushes.  I chose the baba bomb moisturizer.  First of all, the packaging spoke to me.  I also noticed it is regularly $39, so I knew I would be getting a lot of bang for my buck during the promo. #iamallaboutthedeal  Plus, a girl can never have enough moisturizer.

The baba bomb is a whipped moisturizer, and I love how it feels on my skin. It’s so light, but it manages to hydrate really well, and it smooths lines & gives the appearance of firmer-looking skin.  Sign me up for all of that.

Another great choice for this category would be the youth or dare multi acid and c serum.  This would definitely be an incredible value to take advantage of during this promo because this serum is regularly $42.  It boasts a potent double shot of vitamin C AND glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid & apple extract.  It brightens, exfoliates & hydrates for revived younger-looking skin.

STEP 7)  CHOOSE YOUR BAG

There are several bags to choose from, but I immediately gravitated towards the coral with the cute pink tassel.  It’s a great size, and the color is so vibrant and fun!

FINAL THOUGHTS
