I would say that most of the pieces in my closet are pretty classic. I find that I typically buy (and wear) standard pieces that you can probably find in lots of closets, and then most often times fancy those pieces up with a fun necklace and other accessories. But I do own some pieces that are special. Pieces that have some flare and some sass. I’m talking with Nordstrom today about a sweater that I just added to my closet, a sweater that has a little extra oomph and some sass. It’s as soft as can be, it comes in both solids and stripes, and do you see the lace on the sides? Well, that’s just the start of the extra oomph. Pretty, right?
When I got it, I knew it would look great with regular ol’ jeans, but I knew it would also look amazing with my favorite grey jeans for a monochromatic look. So I did what all people bloggers do, I laid out the outfit (I had styled in my head) on the kitchen table so I could take a picture of it. 😉
lace back sweater /favorite $12 cami / grey skinny ankle jeans / plus size jeans / teardrop earrings / $18 necklace / watch / bracelet / booties
Look. How. Cute. #ifidosaysomyself
I mean, this sweater would be cute hanging on the back of a chair. It’s definitely more expensive than what I’m used to paying for a sweater, but I’m willing to pay extra for “special”. And this sweater is definitely special. For size reference, I sized up to a medium in the sweater. I actually really liked the way the small fit…except for the fact that it pulled across the back where the lace pleat is. If you don’t have a large chest, I would recommend sticking to your regular size.
Girls. Here’s the WOW factor. Business in the front, PARTY IN THE BACK. And the sides for that matter! This sweater would be perfect for Thanksgiving Day, casual holiday parties, or just ANY OLD DAY where you want to look DARLING. And get tons of compliments. Because you will.

There are other items in my outfit today that I want to call attention to. These teardrop earrings are hands down my new favorite earrings. They are light as a feather, but make a nice statement with their size. And they come in silver too! They remind me very much of my beloved Gorjana hoops, but are much less inexpensive at $25 (compared to $60). I’ve worn the Gorgana hoops for over 2 years, so I’m quite happy to have this new look! And if you’ve been following along for awhile, you probably already have the $18 necklace. It’s awesome and goes with everything.
Some say the jeans are true to size, some sized down. I don’t normally wear petite pants, but I got a petite in these because I wanted them to be true ankle jeans, and they are the perfect length for my almost 5’4″ frame. I got a 27P, which says they are a 6, but I’m normally a 4. So, if going by inches, they are true to size (because I’m usually a 27). However, most often a 27 is usually a 4, so if going by number sizes, I sized up. #clearasmud
Click HERE for the plus size version. Thank you Caslon for offering these awesome jeans in plus size! (FYI: Caslon actually has a rather extensive and fabulous plus size department, and I’ve heard from several readers that they typically love their options!)
If you are a Wit and Wisdom devotee, click HERE for a similar pair of grey jeans that are fully stocked (and have awesome reviews)! Some reviewers say true to size, some say they run a little small. If they fit like my black ones (that now come in petites!) that I have, I tend to agree that they run small. My size 4 black jeans are quite snug. My size 4 itty bitty boot cut jeans (which now come in petite as well!) are much more comfortable. So, if between sizes, you might want to consider sizing up, since this grey pair is a similar cut to my black jeans. Just read through the reviews and decide what is best for you!
And just in case you hadn’t hopped over to take a look at the sweater, here are the other colors it comes in. Just click on what you are interested in:

Whoa! That sweater is cute! Speaking of Wit and Wisdom, I saw my neighbor looking so cute and she said those Wit and Wisdom jeans were magical. She gave you all the credit. 🙂

My sister and I went shopping together last weekend, and we both ended up with this sweater. She tried it on, and then I had to have it too! She got the plain grey, and I got the black and white stripe. It was true to size for both of us (our “girls” don’t ever require us to size up). Hahaha!

Loveeeee that sweater!! It’s so adorable. I however have a question about those booties. I just bought a similar pair but I’m wondering how in the world to wear socks with them without them showing since the booties don’t really have very high sides. Any tips?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Charise! I don’t wear socks with mine! They have a padded foot bed and are very comfy! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

Whitney says
If you were to wear a sweater over the plaid dress, would you wear a blardigan?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Whitney! What plaid dress? I’m not sure you commented on the right post. Let me know!
xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
