Just follow my simple math equation in Friday’s post, and you’ll look tall and skinny.
Sometimes I’m so smart it’s scary.
And
I know I told you guys on Friday that I was going to be highlighting
some dressier spring dresses today…and I am….just not quite yet…
First I want to expand a bit on my maxi dresses post.
Saturday
afternoon I got an e-mail from a reader (Hi Anna!) about how she and
her sister (Hi Katie!) showed up at a family event dressed alike over
the weekend.
They were both wearing maxi skirts, white tanks, and the Kut from the Kloth medium wash denim jacket found HERE! I’m loving the darker blue wash, aren’t you?!?
LOOK HOW CUTE THEY ARE!!!
The
picture was very timely, because on Friday morning after my post went
live, I realized I had forgotten to talk about maxi skirts!
COME ON FASHION BLOGGER! GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME!
Just like maxi dresses, for years and years I’ve felt like I probably couldn’t pull of a maxi skirt, but I’m guessing I’m wrong about that too. I will definitely be trying some on next time I go to the mall.
I mean, I want to look as cute as Anna and Katie!
But
until then, if you girls are wanting to get Annie’s and Katie’s looks
for yourself, I’ve put together a little collage with the key pieces
needed to replicate a super similar look!
LOVING the denim, with coral, leopard, and a pop of neon yellow…and of course
the Kimberlyl necklace!
It’s such a fresh look!

And if you want more maxi skirt options,
I looked online and found several online that I loved!
a) LOFT black and white stripe skirt HERE
b) Anthropologie yellow with cool waistband HERE
c) blue and grey chevron HERE (also in black and grey)
d) black and white zig zag HERE
e) black side slit skirt HERE with 54 5 STAR reviews! (also in grey and navy)
Okay, now we’ve reviewed maxi dresses and considered maxi skirts…let’s move on to the dressier dresses!
BOOOOOOO!
Already sold out! So sorry!
I love how the back is a different color.
Again, sorry it’s sold out.
Yellow chandelier earrings HERE.
Colorful stack bracelets HERE and HERE.
IF YOU HAVE A WEDDING TO GO TO THIS SUMMER, THIS IS YOUR DRESS!
I can guarantee you if I needed a dress for an event this summer that I would NOT be able to find one in the tri-county area.
But here I am with a PERFECTLY ME dress, and nowhere to go.
Isn’t that just always the way it is?
For
size reference, I’m wearing a 6. I wear a 4 in pants, but I always
have to size up in dresses. I blame the boobs. And the freakishly large
rib cage.
If you try this dress on and love even just 1/4 as much as I do, then you’re all set! 😉
one is a perfect example. It could be dressed up with heels and
fancier jewelry or dressed down with wedges and brass jewelry like I
have on.
dress because of all the amazing reviews, but they didn’t have it in
store. I highlighted this dress last year and got lots of great
feedback from some of you ladies that bought it! It seems to span the
ages. I remember one mom bought it for her mother of the bride dress
for her son’s wedding, and one college girl bought it for her wedding
tour that summer (she had 6 weddings within like 3 months!).
OH LOOK!
This morning a sweet reader (thanks Chamie!) sent me this picture of her in the above dress!
SERIOUSLY! GORGEOUS! Click HERE!
Do you want plus size options?
The collage below shows my absolute FAVORITES (and they all have good reviews)!
black and pink jersey shirt dress HERE / tiered lace dress HERE
floral pleated dress HERE / striped and lace shift dress HERE
So, let’s talk about heels for a quick second.
Black
patent heels are classic and will never go out of style. My pair of
black patent in the pictures above are from Nordstrom 4 years ago. I
bought them at the last minute before a wedding I was attending. I paid
more than I wanted to (I think I remember they were around $130), but
now that I see how much I wear them and how much I love them, $130 actually seems like a great deal.
a) pointed toe sling back HERE / b) michael kors kitten heel HERE
c) low heel peep toe HERE / d) standard patent heel HERE
Nude patent heels are also classic.
I found THIS one that is right at $100.

And just because I couldn’t try every dress on, I’ve made
a little widget with some of my favorites. The dresses highlighted are
all under $200.
MAKE SURE YOU SCROLL THROUGH THEM!
I was
going to make a collage, but we were out of town all weekend and I ran
out of time. I seriously looked at over a thousand dresses to come up
with this group that I think is the best they have. Tons of different
styles and different colors and one for every occasion!
Click on the picture and it will take you directly to the dress!
Just think of all of the events you have coming up this summer:
WEDDINGS, WEDDING AND BABY SHOWERS, GRADUATION, etc…
You’re sure to find a dress that will work for you!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my goodness! The cuteness of you in the skirts and dresses is too much to take! Seriously, I feel like you should be wearing those dresses everywhere. Like today to lunch with our kids. Yes. Wear a dress. I'll be disappointed if you don't.
Tab & Erika says
Maybe you and Chris should renew your vows this summer??? Then you could wear that dress!!! Because let's face it, you look fabulous in that dress and it needs to be worn!!! 🙂
Kate says
Just in time! First shower of the season is next weekend 🙂
Narci says
Wow!!! You look awesome in those dresses!! I love!!! And, the skirts are darling! I need one of each!!
Annie Cox says
You look great in those dresses! I just bought a dress from Nordstrom's last weekend for a wedding this summer. I absolutely love it ands the color is fabulous (ordered it in green). They told me to order a size down because it runs bigger so you can't complain about that. It is the Eliza J Drape Sleeve Sash Belt Dress (Regular & Petite).
Alexa says
Love them all. Especially that striped hot pink number!
kbdesign says
I am so upset I missed out on that first hot pink dress! I am now on a mission to find it!
Kim Kauffman says
You look awesome in everything! Makes me want to go dress shopping. I do have a classic style wrap dress from Nordstrom years ago that I never wear because I felt too "old"…but I'm actually now thinking I just need to update my accessories with it. Maybe that will breathe new life into it. Happy Monday! 🙂
Melanie Lien says
In the flirty black number would you consider it to be made larger? I love that. I think I am going to order it! Sadly it only had one review and I don't live anywhere near a Nordstrom.
Kim Kauffman says
Oops, didn't mean old as in age, meant old as in old lady ha! 🙂

Beautiful dresses. I especially LOVE the black with the lace on top! It looks stunning on the girl who sent in the pic! My sister and I also showed up to a family event this weekend with maxi's and jean jackets on! Can't go wrong with it!!!
Because Shanna Said So says
You are on it!! Maxi skirts, laser cut out dresses and lace gorgeousness…give me one of each!! And the pink neon & stripe dress is adorable!! Too bad it's sold out!! 🙁
Katie says
I LOVE your spring dress finds – especially the laser cut Betsey Johnson. Glad my sis (Anna from the picture up above…which makes me the Katie in the pic) introduced me to your blog, so much fun!
Bama Girl in AZ says
Ok, I bought a maxi dress this weekend to wear next Sunday (with my denim jacket) as my "leaving Las Vegas" outfit because, well, I'll be leaving Vegas after a weekend of fun so it seems easy and comfy for the car ride! Who knew this 5'2" girl could wear a maxi dress!
Slightly Askew Designs says
Gah. You and your fabulous legs. You should be wearing a cocktail dress 24/7. 🙂
Chic Coastal Living says
Those dresses look pretty on you! Don't you kinda miss the bachelor show? I would look forward to it kind of! LOL!
Dah says
Fun fashions for sure. Love all your pics — and you look lovely in every thing your choose!
Alison @ Get Your Pretty On says
You look so darn cute in those short and sassy dresses! Love your legs. Now I want to go out and buy a whole bunch of dresses that I'd never wear. 🙂
Alison @ Get Your Pretty On says
I think my first comment got eaten. Anyway, you look awesome in those short and sassy dresses! Nice legs. You're making me want to buy dresses even though I will never wear them. 🙂
mel @ the larson lingo says
Dresses are my weakness!! I LOVE dressses! I won't tell you how many I have because that number is too big to admit! If I find a dress that I love & that fits, I buy it right away even if I don't have a specific event to wear it to, because I just want to make sure I have it…just in case 🙂
I did that with a dress at Anthro over the weekend!
Cory says
You look like a supermodel in that striped sheath dress. Love it!
Bethany says
You are too cute! And I love the maxi + jacket combo idea! Totally need a jean jacket now!!!

I wore maxi dress, denim jacket, kimberly necklace and wedge sandals to work today. One of my coworkers said, "WOW! You look tall today!" (I'm only 5'2") Yay! Mission accomplished! 🙂
