This post is sponsored by Talbots and ShopStyle. The product selections are my own, and I only highlight and promote pieces that I truly love. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Sheaffer Told Me To!
When Talbots reached out to partner together for Summer, I wrote them back immediately and said HECK YES! I’ve done two posts with them over the last 6 months, and I’ve really enjoyed highlighting their pieces. Do you remember when I partnered with them back in November? I initially accepted the post because my mom has always loved Talbots, and they gave me the green light for her to be in the post too! That was my first time to ever shop Talbots for myself, and I was super impressed.
Shooting the post was a blast because my mom and sister ended up both getting in on the fun, and we got to sneak in a quick lunch on the McKinney square after the pictures. My mom was of course THRILLED to get pictures of herself with her two girls, but I think she was equally excited to get a head to toe Talbots outfit (and she looked FABULOUS). MY MAMMA LOVES HER SOME TALBOTS. Click HERE to see the pictures and the post.
And then in the Spring I showed a casual outfit and an office look. I thought both looks were classic and very “me”. I mistakenly used to think that Talbots was for a more mature demographic, and while they do dress older women very well, I have definitely found pieces and looks that I absolutely love!
I’m very excited about today’s post because I’m featuring 3 DARLING tops. 3 tops I love, 3 tops that I know that my mom (30 years older than me) and my sister (8 years younger than me) would also wear. Talbots spans the ages, which I wasn’t aware of until recently!
And just fyi, next month I hope to feature my mom again! And I’m even hoping Conner will join in again too. Consider this your formal invitation, y’all! #illbuyyoulunch #andpie
But before we get started today, you need to know that ALMOST EVERYTHING is up to 50% OFF with the code FRIENDS through June 15th, so you definitely need to take advantage of the sale! Get 50% OFF of 3 items, 40% OFF 2 items, or 30% OFF 1 item (some exclusions apply).
OUTFIT #1
This outfit makes me happy. It’s playful, vibrant, casual, and just plain fun!
striped tee / earrings / tote bag (lots of tote options HERE)/ bandana (other bandana options HERE) / modern ankle jeans / enamel bracelets / wedges
Let’s start with this striped tee. It’s a great basic tee, but it’s a bit special because of the ties on the arms, the exaggerated large stripes, and the pretty neckline. Even though it’s got a longer sleeve, the top is very lightweight and breathable. I’ll be able to wear this top all thru the Summer. I know I’ll also style it with white jeans and wedges as well as distressed denim shorts and sneakers or sporty sandals.

These jeans (seen in all 3 outfits today) are absolutely adorable. I love them and how they fit me, but I know that they are also going to look darling on my 70+ year old mom.
They have a higher rise and a straight leg which she will love, and there’s also just a little bit of stretch to them. I tend to prefer a lot of stretch in my jeans, but my mom likes just a little stretch. She’s built very straight, and if her jeans have too much stretch she finds herself pulling them up all day. That won’t be a problem with these jeans.
The released hem gives these jeans a modern feel, and I love that they will update my mom’s look. Mom, I’m so sure that these are going to be so perfect for you that I’m going to order you a pair too!!! (I’ll make sure to share a picture of her in the jeans once she has them.)
For size reference, I’m wearing a 6P. Since there’s little stretch in the jeans, I sized up a size. I often do this anyway when I buy something in a petite size. I needed a petite to make sure they would be ankle length on me (since I’m just 5’4″).

The light wash is great for Spring and Summer. And as you’ll see, this wash pairs perfectly with all 3 shirts in today’s post.
striped tee / tote bag (lots of tote options HERE)/ bandana (other bandana options HERE) / modern ankle jeans / enamel bracelets / wedges
This tote is the one you saw in my last post with Talbots. It’s a perfect cognac tote with a super cute striped lining and I love the size. Sadly, it’s sold out.
Y’all know I love a bandana tied around my tote straps, and this one is bright and beautiful!

I had actually ordered this tote to feature in this post, but unfortunately it didn’t arrive in time. It’s the same size as the one I’m carrying, and it’s even more appropriate for the season with the straw accents. Talbots actually has an incredible selection of handbags right now, so I encourage you to check them all out!
I love the whole look.

OUTFIT #2
I’m a big fan of a popover.
linen popover / earrings / tote bag (lots of tote options HERE)/ bandana (other bandana options HERE) / modern ankle jeans / enamel bracelets / wedges
This linen popover is a beautiful pink geranium color, and the style and fit is great. The rolled-up sleeves can be buttoned in place, and it lends itself to a really cool and casual vibe. I’m wearing a medium petite, but keep in mind that I have a very short torso.

The earrings combine several shades of pink, white, and gold. They are dainty and feminine.

The bracelet is a bright white and really stands out. It looks great on its own, but you can see it above layered with the green bracelet too!

Now let’s talk shoes.
Because these wedges are fabulous.
With a 2 1/2 inch heel, they will be a great height for those that aren’t comfortable in a tall wedge.

They zip up the back, and the criss cross straps are made of elastic, making them very comfortable. The soles also boast memory foam, contributing to the overall comfort.
I love the two toned color combination, and although they are casual enough to wear with jeans, the style can also easily be dressed up with skirts and dresses.

I think this outfit spans the ages.

OUTFIT #3
A striped tee in Spring and Summer colors?
Yes, please.
striped tee / earrings / tote bag (lots of tote options HERE)/ bandana (other bandana options HERE) / modern ankle jeans / enamel bracelets / wedges
This striped tee is thicker than the average tee, which is right up my mom’s alley. She likes a little bit of weight to her tops because she thinks it “smooths her out”.
The main stripe is either black or navy (I can’t decide! ha!), but you can see that the lower sleeves and the hem of the shirt show off some colorful stripes! For size reference, I’m wearing a small. I think I should have actually gone for a petite medium in this shirt as well.

The wedges are so good. And come on, I love the hem of the jeans .

Mom, I’m going to send you this top too because I know you will love it, and I think it’s a bit too long on me. (A half tuck isn’t great with this top, because it would hide most of the cute colorful stripes!)

I hope you enjoyed all 3 looks today! It’s amazing how switching out just a top changes the entire look! So I’m curious, are you already a Talbots shopper? If not, I totally recommend you checking out the retailer for yourself! I’m betting you will find pieces that you love.
A huge thank you to Talbots and Shopstyle for sponsoring this post.

Who’s a fan of a stripe tee? THIS GIRL!!

I love all your Talbots selections. I have those enameled bracelets and they are the best especially for those of us with small wrists. Most bangle bracelets just fall off of me. These don”t. Looking forward to seeing your mom model again. She is the cutest!

There is nothing more classic than a blue and white striped top!

I think we’re around the same age, and I started shopping Talbots after your last post. I think some of the items are too “mature” for me, but I really like the style and quality of many of the items I find!
Sheaffer says
Yes, Jessica! This is exactly how I feel! xoxo
Lesli says
How do you think the wedges fit? True to size, etc.? I’m between a 6 1/2 and 7.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Lesli! Hmmmmmmmm….I’m a pretty true 6 1/2, and they are great on me. I sometimes wear a 6 though, so maybe you should go for the 7?

You had me at #illbuyyoulunch #andpie! Love all of these looks!

I bought those wedges before Mother’s Day and I love them!! I’ve only worn them a few times, thanks carona virus. They’re super comfortable, enough that I feel like I could wear them teaching all day, whenever that happens again.

I usually really appreciate all of your picks and recommendations. However, the Talbots recommendations do not seem genuine. The jeans arent flattering and at $95, I dont believe you would ever purchase them. It feels like you are only recommending them becuase you have a “partnership” with Talbots. And every other blogger is suddenlty recommending clothing from talbots as well. I really enjoy seeing the things you would buy with your own money.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Sue! I wanted to let you know that I appreciate any and all feedback from readers! This post was definitely sponsored by Talbots, but I actually do love the jeans (and just fyi, I bought them during a 40% OFF sale)! As I mentioned in this post and previous Talbots posts, it’s not a retailer that I have regularly shopped in the past, but I have been pleasantly surprised at the pieces I’ve been able to find that I genuinely like. My mom has loved Talbots for years, so it’s always been on my radar, and I’ve had fun shopping the store and finding pieces I feel are “me”.
Sponsored posts are a part of my business for sure, but I never want readers to question if I truly like an item (although I totally get how it doesn’t seem genuine when you see several bloggers talk about 1 retailer at the same time). That’s just how it works with sponsored posts. When you sign on for one, it’s pretty typical to have a 1-2 week window when they are supposed to run, so your feed will be flooded with lots of bloggers talking about a particular retailer at the same time.
Anyway, just a little background on sponsored posts and my feelings behind them! xoxo 🙂

Thank you , I appreciate your response. We want to feel like we can always trust your recommendations and that they are honest and genuine. I do feel that way. I just wanted to provide the feedback as it may be valuable. Thanks again, I really look forward to your posts.

Of course! xoxo
