This post is sponsored by Talbots and ShopStyle. The product selections are my own, and I only highlight and promote pieces that I truly love. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Sheaffer Told Me To!
When Talbots reached out to partner together for Spring, I wrote them back immediately and said HECK YES! Do you remember when I partnered with them back in November? I initially accepted the post because my mom has always loved Talbots, and they gave me the green light for her to be in the post too! That was my first time to ever shop Talbots for myself, and I was super impressed.
Shooting the post was a blast because my mom and sister ended up both getting in on the fun, and we got to sneak in a quick lunch on the McKinney square after the pictures. My mom was of course THRILLED to get pictures of herself with her two girls, but I think she was equally excited to get a head to toe Talbots outfit (and she looked FABULOUS). MY MAMMA LOVES HER SOME TALBOTS. Click HERE to see the pictures and the post.
I’m excited to get my mom and possibly sister involved in future posts too (because it’s a 3 month deal), but today it’s all me! I’ve got one casual outfit and one work appropriate outfit, and I’m equally excited about both.
But before we get started today, you need to know that EVERYTHING is 30% OFF through tomorrow, so you definitely need to take advantage of the sale!
CASUAL OUTFIT
This first outfit is totally my vibe. A striped pullover, a military jacket, and pull on jeans? YES, PLEASE. I elevated it a bit with cognac driving moccasins, and I ended up loving the entire look.
The stripe pullover is my favorite kind of top. It’s a relaxed fit, IT’S NAVY STRIPES, and it feels a bit like a thin sweatshirt. I also love the coordinating navy bands on the hem and the cuffs. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

The top also has this zipper detailing on each side, which is a nice design element.

The earrings are a classic little hoop with a ball drop. I love that they are mixed metal, and I’m telling you, they will go with EVERYTHING.

You all know a military is something that I feel everybody needs in their closet. In addition to military green jackets, I also love jackets that also give a pop of collar. This golden jacket is such a great addition to my wardrobe. At 5’4″ I went with the Medium Petite. The petite sleeves were just a tad bit short on me, so I decided to cuff them and show off the striped top underneath.

The jeans are so cute. (And we’ll talk about the tote in a minute, but this picture shows how it’s lined with a cute striped fabric.)

And look! You just pull them on!

They are a really soft fabric, they aren’t too tight like lots of pull on jeans I’ve tried, and of course they are CRAZY comfortable. They are crafted from our revolutionary Sculpt Stretch fabric, with flattering compression properties that contour every curve.
For size reference, I’m 5’4″ and wearing a 4 Petite.

The cognac driving moccasins are comfy and totally classic. The insole is really cushy, and I like how the pointy toe and gold detailing dresses them up a bit. I think they look great with this casual outfit, but you’ll see in the next outfit that they are definitely nice enough to wear to work as well. I would recommend sizing down a 1/2 in the moccasins.

A great cognac tote is always a good idea. And I think a cognac tote pretty much begs for a bandana to be tied on a handle.
The green and white enamel bangles are so pretty wit their shiny finish and gold accents.

Yep, this outfit is totally me.

WORK APPROPRIATE OUTFIT
This next outfit will have you ready for the office, once you are given the go ahead to go back into the office that is.
floral stripe blouse / cardigan / earrings sold out / necklace / cognac tote / white enamel bangle / pants / driving moccasins
First and foremost, I hear from all of you ladies that work in an office that a blouse with a sleeve or a light layer is necessary all year long. Apparently, corporate America likes to keep their offices ice cold!
This cardi is cardi perfection. It’s relaxed yet refined, and it’s a great fit. And this pink (“rosebud”) is absolutely beautiful, although it also comes in powder blue, light pink, and green.
For size reference, I’m wearing the petite small because I wanted it a little bit shorter than the regular sizing allowed.

The floral stripe blouse has figure flattering vertical stripes with a floral pattern in the stripes, and the split neck and gathered sleeves are so pretty and feminine. The pink and yellow colors in the floral pattern are easy to pull out, which is why I chose pink for the cardigan to highlight the colors.
For size reference, I’m wearing a medium in the top.

The necklace is a pretty combination of gold, white, and various shades of blue beads. And it has a slide pull tie, so you can easily adjust the length.

The ankle pants are my perfect idea of what a work pant should be. They are crafted from a substantial, double-weave cotton and look very professional, while remaining comfortable. They’ve got a classic straight leg and a higher waistband for a more modern fit.
For size reference I got a 6P. I’m typically a 4, but I often size up in pants like this if I end up going with a petite.

Such a pretty Spring and Summer look!

I hope you enjoyed both looks today! I love both complete outfits, but I’m also looking forward to mixing and matching the pieces with the rest of my wardrobe.
A huge thank you to Talbots and Shopstyle for sponsoring this post.

Sheaffer, that “office look” outfit! OMG!!!! Take all my moneyyyy please 🙂
Question, I always wondered how a “sponsored” post work. Do you get a fee for the post and then buy and pay for your own clothes, or can you buy clothes up to a certain value? I love the brands that you work with, so I am just curious 🙂
Stay healthy & safe! xo
Sheaffer says
Hey, Sarah! Great question! Typically there is a fee for the post and a clothing budget or they tell you can order a certain number of pieces. For this post, the clothing budget covered almost 1 of the outfits, so I spent my money on the other pieces so I could feature two head to toe looks. I always want to do the best for y’all and the brand! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

You’re so right! That first outfit looks SO Sheaffer!!! ??????????
Thea Shiota says
that yellow jacket on the Talbots website looks mustard, quite different from your pics. Would you please verify that the jacket link is correct?
Sheaffer says
Hi,Thea! It is definitely the correct link.
It’s so hard to talk about color for a couple reasons. 1) The color of a piece from an in studio pic is always going to look different than the color of a piece in a pic taken outside. 2) It’s hard to see a color consistently across people, mainly because the settings of a person’s phone or device drastically affects the color representation.
That being said, The color of my pics doesn’t look all that different to me than the pics on the website, I guess based on my settings. They both look accurate to me, but I would say that the jacket isn’t a sunshine yellow, there’s definitely mustard tones in it. I hope this helps! But I do realize that even my explanation may mean something different to me that it does to you. I wish color wasn’t so hard!!! xoxo

thank you!
Kristen says
I ordered this jacket for my mom. She ended up returning it because the color was so disappointing. It definitely looked brighter on my computer screen (and in your pics) then it did in reality. Fit was nice, but between color and lack of lining (jacket is very thin), she decided to return.
But love to see the yellow . . . we all need a little more sunshine, right?
Sheaffer says
I’m so sorry, Kristen! I love the color, but I’m sorry it didn’t work for you! xoxo
Anna says
Hi Sheaffer,
I love the work look and it’s perfect for my job as a psychologist. Unfortunately, the link to the cardigan goes to one called Modern Girlfriend, that is quite a bit longer than yours and has a v-neck. I like the v-neck, but not the longer look.
Is yours the Charming Cardigan in Rosebud?
Thanks for looking into this. I think I’m going to order the top!
Sheaffer says
Anna! You are SO RIGHT! It looks like I grabbed the wrong link. I’m so sorry for the confusion! Yes, it seems as I am wearing the Charming Cardigan in Rosebud. I did get a petite (I’m 5’4″ with a short torso), and I definitely liked the length of the petite on me. Thanks for pointing out the error, Anna. I’m going to go fix the link in the post right now! xoxo
Shay Shull says
Sheaffer! Navy stripes with a yellow jacket?! That is SUPER CUTE!!!
Dee says
You always look great but I think Talbots is mostly for women over 60. You are to young to wear their styles. I’m 60 and there are some things that I even wouldn’t wear. But like always you made the pieces work for you.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Dee! I used to think that too, but they’ve surprised me with their choices! I found lots that I love! Xoxo
Kelly says
I spent the entire time reading the post, worrying you were going to fall back into the lake. I’m glad you didn’t. Don’t usually think to check out Talbots but will need to with this great sale. 2 very cute outfits and I love seeing some work wear posts…not that I’m going into the office right now but hopeful one day I’ll get to go back… :- ) Now I’m working from the dining room table and trying to coax my 2 kiddos to do their schoolwork.
Sheaffer says
Chris was worried too, Kelly! 😉
Kim Gugert says
I’m so so glad you showed us some Talbots clothes! I’m early 50’s but preppy in style and find myself in their stores, Me being on the younger side shopping. But they have such great preppy clothes and you made them look young!!! Thank you!
Sheaffer says
So happy to hear this, Kim! They definitely have some treasures! xoxo
Stormy Winslow says
I think Talbots appeals to those of us who grew up with 1980’s preppy style. Plus, their pieces usually have some neat detail. Good post Sheaffer.
Sheaffer says
Awww, thanks Stormy!!!! And yes, I agree!!!! xoxo
Cary says
Love the floral stripe blouse with the pink cardigan. Does the blouse have any stretch to it? Do you recommend sizing up?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Cary! Very little stretch to the blouse. I got a medium, but I often get a medium in blouses with little give because I need the room in the chest. If you don’t need room in the chest, you should be able to stick with your regular size. If your chest often needs a little more room, size up! Hope this helps! xoxo
