Cue the “awwwws”. 😉
I thought it was a good time to talk about CURRENT FALL ACCESSORIES
that are out there right now.
I figured our special mom would need some inspiration on how to top off all of her outfits made out of her NEW FREE CLOTHES! WooHoo!!!!!!
(And just in case you missed it, click HERE if you would like to see my LOFT picks.)
And if you didn’t already know it before, I think it’s now CLEAR that LOFT rocks.
CRYSTAL clear.
Before I get to the fall accessories, I have a housekeeping matter that I need to attend to very quickly.
First off,
I’ve received 3 separate e-mails on a particular pair of Sam Edelman boots that are relatively new to the Nordstrom site. All 3 of these
ladies don’t live near a Nordstrom, and they were wanting to know if I
had seen them in person (and liked them) before they ordered them.
And
I figure if 3 of you asked, there were probably more of you out there
wondering. And then this picture appeared in a Nordstrom e-mail that was sent to me, and I understand what all the interest in these boots was about. They were gorgeous. And well priced for a tall boot.
Here they are on me:
Here is my review:
They
are a very pretty boot in a gorgeous cognac color with some black
rubbing (seen on the toe and heel mostly). I liked the height of them
and I liked how they had an asymmetrical rise at the knee. They had a
bit of a cowboy flare in person, which I wasn’t really expecting, but I
actually liked! I would highly recommend these boots to you girls that
were curious!
However, if you have wider calves, these might be too snug.
(But don’t worry, I have an option for you!)
*Thanks to a comment early Friday morning from an anonymous reader, I found out that the Penny boots come in a wide calf version also! Find them HERE!*
Oooh. Another update.
Laura, another sweet reader left this comment:
I actually bought TWO pairs of the Sam Edleman boots last weekend and I
don’t live near a Nordstrom’s, either (but I’m not one of your 3
emails). I have to say that they are FAB and I love, love, love them!!!
I got the cognac and black. Great fit!
Thanks Laura for taking the time to comment. It really helps readers to see what other readers have to say about items!
Here’s another one!
I have the wide calf Sam Edelman boots and they fit perfectly! I have
SO much trouble finding boots to fit my calves so I ordered these as
soon as I found them. I wear a size 10 and think I measured my calf to
be 17.5 or 18 inches. The whiskey color is a bit lighter than I
expected but still very nice. I’ve not worn them yet so I’ll have to
get back to you on that!
Thanks Rebecca!
And these were the option I had before the sweet reader told me about the wide calf Pennys.
If you have a wide calf, THESE might be a better option for you.
Here is the 1 review so far:
I love these boots! The color is a perfect
caramel and exactly what I was looking for. I love the buckle around the
ankle; it adds character. The width of the boot fits slightly on the
wider side so I know I can wear socks comfortably. The calf is much
looser than I imagined! I have muscular calves and most boots don’t fit
but these do! The shaft comes all the way up to my knee and they are
very soft on my skin. I couldn’t be happier.
All right, enough housekeeping, let’s get back to the accessories.
I think our special mama is going to be very happy with these choices!
boot cut jeans HERE,
At last check, these jeans had received 46% of the vote! 1st runner up HERE.
cognac riding boots HERE,
At last check, these boots had received 43% of the vote. 1st runner up HERE.
Stella and Dot Sanibel pendant HERE
At last check, the Sanibel pendant had an overwhelming 70% of the vote!
It seems as if you ladies might like this versatile necklace just as much as I do. I actually wore it 3/5 days this week, but I only saw the same people 2/3 days, so I think that makes it okay.
I received lots of questions and comments this week about the jeans that were being voted on as well as the jeans that I was wearing in some of my LOFT pictures on Wednesday.
I know that many of you are new to the blog this week and hadn’t heard me scream and shout about my love for these Vigoss jeans before, so I only thought it was fair to catch you up to speed..
If you are new, trust me when I saw that I’m cuckoo for these jeans.
In fact, I had previously named these jeans a MUST HAVE!
Here’s a picture of me in them in the dressing room with 2 different styles. I bought both of them.
What can I say, it was love at first site. 😉
My love for these jeans is even stronger now than that first day.
Here’s why I LOVE THEM SO: They have the PERFECT amount of stretch in them (enough stretch that they are super comfy, but not too much because they don’t sag) and they are just
so dang flattering.
Click HERE for the boot cut.
The pockets on the back are what sold me on these. They look just like designer Hudson’s and are a fraction of the price!
Click HERE for the clean cuffed version.
I love the boot cut above, but these cuffed jeans below are definitely my favorite.
They are PERFECT with flats, wedges, and booties…and to be honest,
the cuff at the bottom just makes me feel cool! 🙂

Okay! On to the fall accessories!
The first thing I think about when I think about fall accessories is scarves!
They are a great way to add color and style to any outfit.
This scarf below is the bomb-diggity.
Whatever that means.
It is SOFT SOFT SOFT and oh so cozy.
all echo scarf choices HERE
It’s AWESOME, right?
I love it so much!
I think I like the middle one the best.
This scarf is fab.
Look how it jazzes up my black shirt and jeans!

I promise to post it on my facebook page HERE by 10:00 am Saturday morning as well as at the top of this post.
The kindness of strangers regarding this contest was overwhelming.
One sweet reader contacted me and said this:
Hi Sheaffer,
I’ve been reading your blog for almost a year now,
and I love it! …… I just looked at your blog and saw the Special Mamas
contest you’ve got going on. I love that you’re doing this! I am not a
Special Mama, but I know how hard it is to be a mom at all (I have 2 and
3 year old boys), so I can’t even imagine how much more challenging it
is when your child has special needs. So nice of the Loft to partner
with you! I was just thinking that if you wanted to make this a regular
thing, I would be happy to contribute a $50 gift card to whatever store
you choose. Just let me know if that would help, now or in the future.
Again,
love your blog. Don’t change a thing! I live in Dallas and shop at
Stonebriar’s Nordstroms a lot. I keep thinking I will eventually run in
to you there. 🙂
Thanks!
Emily
I MEAN, HOW NICE IS EMILY?!?
Love that I have such sweet readers!
Thank you Emily!
There is also an organization called Caring Coutoure that contacted me via facebook to tell me about their organization and let me know they wanted to give a beautiful scarf to the winner that is one-of a kind and hand-painted by a person with special needs. LOVE!
Click HERE to read what they are about and click HERE to see their selection of products.
Thank you Debra for volunteering to participate in the giveaway!
A sweet mama named Ryan told me about a Foundation and
Support Group she started for mommas who also have children with rare, serious and
undiagnosed disorders.
Their website is HERE.
Thanks for Sharing Ryan!
Ryan also has a blog that just launched on Wednesday that you can find HERE.
If you have a blog or a foundation or a facebook page dedicated to parenting a child or children with special needs, please leave it in the comments. I would LOVE for all of you special mamas out there to connect with each other. I know the only one who can truly understand a special needs mom is another special needs mom.
In closing,
I would like to share a poem that I heard when I first got into special education. If you are the parent to a special needs child, I’m quite sure you’ve heard it.
If you’re not a parent to a special needs child, you still need to read it.
It’s a MUST READ, and it’s beautiful.
Have a wonderful weekend Ladies!
And good luck to everybody in the contest!
Alison @ Get Your Pretty On says
Oh my gosh, I'm bawling over that poem. Wow! I'm pretty sure I need that knit scarf in my life (the middle one is my favorite too). And can I just say your hair is looking particularly fabulous lately? 🙂

Just want to let you know that I did buy the Sam Edelman boots and they were too tight in the calf…I realized that they come in wide calf so I am waiting for them to be sent to me and hopefully that will work. I will let you know if the extra inch in the wide calf makes a difference.

What a beautiful poem! I am just blown away by this contest. It amazes me what kind people are capable of when they come together. Thank you for setting such an amazing example for not just me but a world of bloggers 🙂 xo!

Well you've made me cry! Beautiful poem! So proud to be a reader of your blog. This contest truly shows what a wonderful person you are! Can't wait to hear about the deserving mother that wins!
I love the gold spike stretch bracelet & the Tory Burch bracelet. Those are my faves! Have a great weekend!

"Welcome to Holland" in the morning-now I'm crying:)! It is funny how my reaction to it has changed from my pregnancy, when I found out that my son would have T21 to now when he is a rising kindergartner. When I first read it, it was almost to painful to read. But now I find myself smiling and nodding, "Yes, Rembrandts!" Did you know that Emily Perl Kingsley joined the writing team of Sesame Street in 1970? I absolutely LOVE that children of all abilities are represented on the show, and I'm sure that Kingsley had a lot to do with that. Thank you so much for sending love and support to a lot of moms you may have never met. Hugs!!!

I have the Sanibel Pendant and I LOVE it! I have had it about 3 weeks and have truly worn it every day that I have actually gotten dressed (ha! Glamourous life I lead ?). It is SO versatile and stinking cute!! It's more than I would normally spend on a necklace, but I have already gotten my money's worth.
This contest for Special Need's Mamas is amazing! My daughter has 2 rare disorders and I am excited about connecting with other Moms through the link you posted above! Thanks, Sheaffer!
Lori says
Such a beautiful poem! Thank you for sharing. Shaeffer, you have such a big heart. Thank you for making these moms feel a little special with your contest. I wish they all could win.
On a side note…..I need some info on that fabulous handbag you are carrying in your pics. I love totes.
Susan says
I have those exact boots (bought with my wonderful Nordstrom gift card!) and LOVE them so far! I haven't worn them outside of the house yet (c'mon cooler weather!), but they seem SO comfy! They are a very nice, rich shade of cognac and go with everything. I agree with others that the shaft does seem to run a little smaller than some boots. I had to return two other pairs (different brands) due to the calves being too wide before finding these. I love that these fit snuggly enough to be worn with skirts and dresses without gaping too much, but also have enough room for jeans/leggings to be tucked in.
Loving all the scarves, but really NEED that knit one! I think I may have a bit of a scarf addiction! They are just so easy and fun! 🙂
Sabrina says
LOVE that leopard and green scarf. It's in my shopping cart. LOVE those Sam Edelman boots. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. They are in my shopping cart too. And if we're being honest, I really love it all. Everything looks so cute on you. Every.single.thing! 🙂
P.S. I always get so excited when I see a new post in my reader–I love to see your favorite finds…it makes my life so much easier! 😉

Love that leopard and green scarf! I am going crazy over the bag you have in the photo too! What kind is it? Where is it from? Etc.! I absolutely love it!

I have to tell you… I entered the contest and I don't have a child with special needs. I feel so silly. I totally read the blog… but came back and forth to my computer as I had time in between my three kids and remodeling. I am guessing I just entered it and didn't even realize what I was doing until read your blog again this am. PLEASE…. don't put my name in the mix of these deserving moms. I hope I didn't mess up the drawing!!! It will be one blessed mama who gets loved on this way!!
Amber says
You do have sweet readers! I am excited for the blessing that this fun contest has been. I am sure that even the mamas that don't win have been encouraged!

I quote that movie constantly! In fact, I have a series on the blog called, 'This Really Melts My Butter'
Almost every situation has an applicable SM quote! My fave, after, 'That looks like two pigs, fighting under a blanket' — is "My signature cullar is pink. My weddin is blush and bashful." "Her weddin is pink and pink. The church looks like it was sprayed down with Pepto Bismol!"
Elaine~ Honey Pie Accessories says
"Two pigs fighting under a blanket"….. best movie quote of all time ever.
Elaine~ Honey Pie Accessories says
The silver link bracelet matches your wedding ring perfectly! I mean, it's a fabulous pair! And, oh how I love the Welcome to Holland poem; it is so beautiful….. Also, do the cashiers/sales people give you funny looks at Nordstrom? I can only imagine the looks you get from shoppers flashing your big smile and snapping away at shoes, jewelry and clothing! It cracks me up every time thinking about all the stares you must be getting! Do you just look at them and say, "Pinterest Told Me To."

I can't wait to find out who wins the contest! And that green & leopard scarf! Holy moly!!! LOVING it!!

So, I am needing a fitted jean to tuck into boots- would those cuffed jeans work? Can you unroll them – I'm guessing if not it would be too bulky!
CWestlake says
What a wonderful contest! It is so incredible to know that special needs moms are being thought of because honestly shopping and fashion can be quite low on the priority list when we're just trying to make it through the day most of the time. I blog at http://www.blessedbybrenna.com about my daughter who was born in 2011 with a very rare and severe genetic skin condition. Of course I am DYING to win your contest (I can't remember the last time I went to the mall!!) but even more than that, I just want to say thank you for doing this. Sometimes raising a child with special needs can be so isolating and it's wonderful to know there are other moms who admit that they don't know all that we're doing through, but that they still care.

I am so glad I bought that crystal bracelet. I love it!! Steel Magnolia's is one of my favorite movies, too! 🙂

I have those Sam Edelman boots and I love them! They are so comfy and the leather is so soft and lovey! They are also true to size, so ladies should feel pretty confident about ordering them online. I absolutely recommend them. I can't wait for it to get cooler so I can wear them more often. They are definitely my must have piece for this fall.

I am finally going to order the must have jeans. I noticed on Nordstrom's comments for the non distressed version that a couple of people said they went up a size. Do you recommend that?

Hi there! I would definitely recommend that. I ordered a size up and they were perfect!
