OUTFITS COME TO LIFE! Part 1!

Last Wednesday I did a post where I outfit planned 10 different outfits.  In blogger world these set ups are called “flat lays”.  Many of you say you love flat lays because you really enjoy seeing the outfits like this where you can easily see each piece.  I like playing around with outfits like this because I often put together combinations that I might not if I was just throwing things on while getting dressed.

So when Nordstrom reached out and asked me to talk about summer outfits, I knew immediately I would recreate some of the outfits from last week’s post!

OUTFIT #1

Let’s start off with this little white on white number….jazzed up with some colorful accessories!

I don’t think I’ve ever done the white on white thing before, but I really loved it!  It felt fresh, clean, and crisp!

I have a small in the top (runs a little big I think) and a 27 in the jeans (size down if between sizes).  Remember, these are the jeans I call pajama jeans, because they are just that comfy.  The sandals are true to size and ON SALE!  Click HERE for the accessories.

OUTFIT #2

So I’ve got to be honest, I’ve been a fan of the Mexican dress since around the age of 8.  I used to ROCK a Mexican dress with Jellies.  #ifidosaysomyself #andido #sayso

When I found this one, I knew it had to be mine.

I ordered the small for myself, but it was wayyyyyy too big.  The x-small fits me much better, but it is still a little roomy.  If you are a teeny tiny person, I’m guessing this dress is not going to work for you because you will be swimming in fabric.  Also, if you are over 5’6″, It will probably be too short on you (I’m 5’4″).  So sorry!  But just in case you love the dress, but you’re tall….you could wear it as a top with white jeans!

It comes in this absolutely fabulous red, but it also comes in white and black as well.  And the embroidery work is gorgeous.

OUTFIT #3

I set out to look for a reasonably priced one shoulder top, and I found this one!

This one shoulder top below is originally ONLY $39, and now it’s ON SALE for $23.40!  I sized up to a medium in the top.  I definitely needed the bit of extra length, so I’m not sure if this is going to work for you ladies that are over 5’6″ or so.  The jean shorts are true to size.

I do need to give a quick update on the denim shorts.  I washed them a couple of times with no problem.  But then I washed and dried them and they did not hold up well.  🙁 I’ve received a couple of comments from readers that have experienced the same thing.  I was SO SAD.  I washed them again, pressed down the cuffs, and laid them out to dry.  I also had to give them a bit of hair cut, and they are still wearable, but they just aren’t the same.  #fail

OUTFIT #4

This outfit is basically a tee with jeans…but the tee is kicked up a couple of notches because of the bell pleated sleeves and the tie at the waist.  And the earrings?  Well, they’re awesome.

I have a small in the shirt, so it’s true to size for me.  If you don’t have a large chest, you might even be able to size down, but it’s definitely meant to be slouchy.  The jeans are true to size, I have a 27.  If between sizes, you might want to size down.  They are super stretchy and very comfy!  Remember, these are the Carly jeans (I have 3 pairs).

Oh, and to wrap things up today, I’m ordering a basic black swimsuit for myself.  I’ve never had one, and now is the time.  I think any of them will look cute with this colorful cover up I got in last week, and of my course my summer flip flops.

OH WAIT!  ONE MORE VERY IMPORTANT THING! THIS necklace is one of my favorite purchases I’ve made over the last several months.  It makes every outfit darling, goes with almost anything, and gets so many compliments!  It’s been going in and out of stock, it’s been on backorder, but it appears to be back now!  Keep your fingers crossed there’s more than just a handful left!

And the above jeans have become somewhat of a blog sensation.  I get a couple of e-mails a week saying “THESE REALLY ARE PAJAMA JEANS!”  #yesiknow

I’m telling you. GET. THESE. JEANS.  The frayed hem, the ankle length, the light wash, and the stretchy denim make them perfect summer jeans.

And even though my wedges are sold out, THESE are super similar and 40% OFF!!!!!  And they come in black and cream as well.
