I also enjoy shopping for my little guy.
But shopping for my hubby? Not so much.
It’s not that I don’t enjoy buying things for him, because I do! But I enjoy buying things for him that make him happy. And new clothes do not make my guy happy. He couldn’t care less.
However, if I didn’t shop for him, he would never EVER have new clothes.
You think I’m kidding, but I’m not.

FYI: I tried to get him to be in this post. And he totally shut the idea down. I’ll keep working on him, and maybe in the future you will get to see Mr. Pinterest Told Me To strut his stuff. 🙂
But until then, here’s a pretty recent picture of my guy with our little man.
Yep. I’ve got two handsome boys in my life!
And I, like most moms and wives out there, shop for both of them.

So what do I buy for the hubby?
Well, Chris is a simple guy, and he only wants the basics.
I’ve tried to push him out of his comfort zone before with things that I buy for him, but it always ends with me returning the items I bought.
Concerning clothes, this is all he needs in his closet:
shirts: some plain tees, some polo type collared shirts, and some button-ups
pants: a couple pairs of great jeans, a couple pairs of great khaki pants, and some shorts
shoes: a pair of tennis shoes, a pair of shoes for khakis, and some sandals
accessories: 1 black belt, 1 brown belt, some baseball caps
outerwear: like 5 Northface jackets of varying warmth
He also has 1 nice suit with a couple of dress shirts (1 blue and 1 white) and a couple of ties.
That’s it.
So, like I said before, I don’t have a ton of fun shopping for Chris, simply because I know he’s not going to get super excited about any type of clothing I bring home.
I typically buy clothes for him twice a year. And since I typically tend to stock up during those shopping trips, it really helps to be shopping during a sale. In fact, I pretty much only shop for Chris during a sale. So, when Nordstrom reached out and asked if I would talk about the Men’s Half Yearly Sale, I was all about it. I was going to be shopping anyway, might as well post about it too!

Girls. NOW IS THE TIME to stock up on clothes for our men.
Chris’s only real concern when he gets dressed is that he wants to be comfy. However, maybe your guy is all about his clothes! Either way, the men’s half yearly sale is a good time to shop.
First thing I searched was “men’s Northface sale” so I could go ahead and have a jacket to wrap up for him for Christmas. There wasn’t a huge stock available, but I did find these two.
He has 5 jackets, but no hoodies, so either one of these would be perfect for him. I went with the plain olive green one.

Next up, shirts.
He tends to lean towards blues, so here are some options that I found that I know he will like.

Now time for jeans! Chris typically has 2-3 pairs of jeans in the closet that he really loves, and that’s really all he needs. Sadly, one of his pairs is on it’s last leg, and they discontinued the style number, so it’s time to find a new pair of dark wash jeans for him.

Okay. Time for shoes! Shoes are where I can try to infuse a little bit of style into my guy’s wardrobe without him putting up too much of a fight.

Maybe your hubby wears a suit to work every day, but mine doesn’t.
He wears khakis and a polo or a button up every single day…and jeans on Fridays.
He has the occasional time that he will throw on a pair of suit pants and a dress shirt if he has a meeting, but 98% of the time he just doesn’t need a suit.
Still, every guy needs a couple of great suits hanging in his closet for the occasional important meeting, wedding, or funeral.
Suits are EXPENSIVE, so buying as suit on sale is really the only way to go.

Uggggg…I hate shopping for men. It's so BORING! I like this much better…shopping these sales online in my house with my coffee, wearing my fuzzy socks and watching Frasier on TV. This is the only way I like to shop for men. 🙂

Craig is a simple guy too. I can push him a little out of the comfort zone though. The jeans you showed look like they would be right up his alley and I just know he'd wear those linen boat shoes too! And oh, the suits! There's nothing better than a guy dressed up in a suit, nothing. 🙂

If I didn't shop for my hubby he would still be wearing the same clothes he wore in high school!!! He is a police officer so wears a uniform to work but otherwise he is a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy too. His favorite jeans are BKE from the Buckle, he lives in cargo shorts and tees for the summer and jeans and hoodies in the winter.

OMG….mine hates shopping as well…..and the statement he wouldn't have any new clothes if it wasn't for you….bingo! I feel as if there are two holidays just for buying clothes for our men and that is their bday and fathers day. I have taken him out of his element a little, he did actually like and wear a pair of the cutest plaid shorts!
Altho, I can recall one, yes just one where I went with him to shop for sport coats and ONLY because his boss told him that he needed to have them…lol. I'm so sick of Home Depot and he isn't even a handy man….my handy man picks up the phone! But I do like to wiz past the mens section when I'm walking past it to go to the escalator to head to the good stuff for me! LOL.

I know exactly how you feel, my husband HATES "trendy" jeans… He will only wear the same kind of jeans from Kohls, he has 4 pair of them. They are baggy and well not the most attractive. On occasion I make him wear the 1 pair of nicer jeans for me! He hates them and says his butt hangs out. I gave up shopping for him. Oh and I have to add that he wears slacks to work everyday, his slacks are from Sam's Club! Oh well at least I don't have to iron them, they are wrinkle free! I am so glad I am not the only one. I gave up shopping for him at all!

My husband wears khaki pants and polo-style shirts from Target or Old Navy every work day. As soon as he gets home he changes into a t-shirt and pajama pants! Refuses to wear shorts even though we live in Texas and it's hot, but also refuses to wear long-sleeved shirts unless it's freezing. If we go out he wears jeans and a t-shirt, also from Target or Old Navy…blah!
