So when Nordstrom asked me to talk about their COATS ON SALE, I was ALL. IN.
I tend to add a new coat to my closet every 2-3 years, but I only buy a coat if it’s on sale. Coats are expensive, and so it’s always a good idea to wait until they are on sale to scoop one up! Anyway, this post was perfect for me, and I found lots of great options for all of us!

After I got this post, I immediately hopped online and decided to order myself a coat~
I got THIS one.
I loved the vibrant green color, the tie-waist, the flare fit…..but I didn’t love that it didn’t have pockets, so it’s going back. If you don’t mind the no pockets thing, then you should give this coat a chance. It’s really heavy and warm and I love how it’s so unique!

I really love the first green coat you featured ( the one you sent back). I bought it with Christmas money last week. I hesitate to tell you this, but it does actually have pockets. They are more in the front than on the sides where they are usually found. I especially love the hood, it’s straight out of a fairy tale! Rachel

Speaking of the boots, I’ve had a lot of e-mails from you girls asking me what I thought about the boots since you knew I bought them. Here’s the deal, they are great boots, but I don’t think I’m keeping them. I just think I will always be reaching for my chocolate brown Frye’s or my cognac Miz Mooz boots from last year. I just happen tolike brown boots more than black boots.
BUT.
If you are in the market for black boots, these are a great boot at a phenomenal price.
They have narrow calves, so although I’m wearing them with my MUST HAVE skinny jeans in the picture (and they work fine!), I think they would be best with leggings and tights and dresses. I think most jeans would be hard to tuck into them smoothly.
But again, if you are thinking you want them mainly for leggings and dresses anyway, then I think the narrow calf becomes a real plus because they will fit snugly and you won’t have any ugly gap!

And then right before I walked out the door, I proved my theory correct, because I changed to my brown Frye’s (sold out, but similar HERE from Sam Edelman and STILL ON SALE).

I will say, the coats are seriously picked over in store and there aren’t many left at all.
I was able to find a handful that I really liked…however, a couple of them weren’t the right size for me….but I’ll talk about sizing with each coat.
This was my favorite coat I tried on. I adored it.
Of course, it also happened to be the most expensive one I tried on. Dangit! 😉
BUT OH MY WORD IT WAS GORGEOUS. And it just felt great on.
For size reference, I tried on an 8 (b/c that’s all they had), but I definitely needed a 6.

I am not needing a coat right not because I am in "coat over-load", but that second one is GORGEOUS!! Love the gold buttons and details on the back! super cute! And about boots..for Christmas my hubs got me a pair of the Frye Paige boots..Yes, I am pretty sure I can get rid of every boot I have and just live with these! I have the CK hooded coat in navy and it has turned into my favorite coat. It is long enough that I can wear it with my blardigan and boyfriend cardigans (and I am 5'9"). I also love that the cut of the jacket and the tabs at the side give it a nice shape. I love this one so much that I just bought it in black, too!

So…because I will do whatever you tell me to…you really can wear brown boots with a black top? I don't know why I'm asking because it obviously looks darling on you but I have gone so long thinking that I had to stick with black boots if wearing a black/grey top that I am feeling completely disoriented. This could open up a whole new world for me. And, truth be told, I like brown boots better too but always go with black because I wear more black on top!
Can you see what a challenging existence I have been living?!
So, please confirm for me that, yes, I can absolutely totally truly wear brown boots when wearing a black top. You will completely turn my world upside down. In a good way.

Listen to me carefully…..not only can you wear brown with black….I HIGHLY SUGGEST you do so because it makes your outfit so much more interesting!!!!!! I promise you that once you do it 1 or 2 times you will love it and not even give it another thought. And while we're on the topic, I also suggest mixing metals. I wear silver and gold together all the time!

This has nothing to do with today's post, but you need to know about these pajamas! I bought them the week before Christmas in the brown leopard color because I wanted nice pajamas to wear while we had family in town for the holidays. They are the softest most comfortable pajamas I own! I have worn them almost every night since I bought them. I decided to order a second pair on Friday after my husband asked me if I ever washed them because he had not seen me wear any other pajamas recently. (For the record, I wash them regularly and then put them right back on at night.) Plus, they are on clearance for under $13!!! Also, they come in two different leopard prints that are both super cute! 🙂

I don't know if you will see this, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU for this comment! I had no idea about them till I read your comment, and so I went to the website and checked it out. I wanted these online but they were sold out. However last week, IN STORE I found them for $7.48!!!!! wahooo!! I bought the brown ( although the grey was way cute too and I couldn't decide…) and, I kid you not, the best time of day is bedtime bc I get to cozy up in these things and im telling you, they are the greatest ever! I even tried 2 pair of the Nordstrom DKNY PJ's that Shay loves, but those didn't suit me. I sent them back, then I found these, much to my delight! Best 7.50 I ever spent. Thank you!!

Hi Sheaffer! This is Kristen again (the reader that e-mailed you yesterday about my obsession with my new MUST HAVE jeans). I have the Kristen Blake pleated back coat in red and it's the best coat I've ever owned. I bought it at full price, but I don't even care because I love it that much. I know that when I tell several of my friends that it's now on sale that they will end up getting it too because they all try to take it off of me and steal it whenever I wear it. I feel like you when I say this, but it is darling! (I don't think I ever used the word darling before reading this blog, and now I do all the time! hahaha!) Anyway, it's an awesome coat!

I had the navy plaid with toggles in my cart and then when you said you bought it I hopped right over and bought it before it sold out.
