Mom’s Skincare Review AND SALES!!!!

I teased this post a couple of week’s ago, but technical difficulties delayed it. I’m so excited that today we are finally talking about skin care with my GORGEOUS mama!  (Some awesome sale items are at the bottom of the post, so make sure y’all don’t miss those.)

Have y’all heard of Colleen Rothschild?  It’s a skincare company that I first heard about a little over a year ago. I’m guessing you ladies might have heard of the company as well because it’s been talked about in many different publications (including Vanity Fair and In Style)! #goals Well, they sent me some samples awhile back, but I already had a skincare system that I was using, so the CR products just sat in my bathroom cabinet.

And then one day on the phone, my mom was telling me how she was wanting to find new skincare for herself.  I remembered my CR stuff in my cabinets, and I asked her if she wanted to try it.  She had not heard of it, but she was like, FREE SKIN CARE?  BRING IT!

And y’all.  I KID YOU NOT.  4 days in, and she called me and said, “Sheaffer.  I love this stuff.  I promise you I can already tell a difference.”  So then I reached out to the person at Colleen Rothschild that had sent me the products before… I told her my mom had fallen in love with some of the products and that she’d love to try more.  And so they sent her more!  Thank you, Shelby!  MY MOM WAS IN HEAVEN and sooooo appreciative.  She’s been giving me updates on her progress, and now that she’s been using the products for about 2 months, we thought it was time for her to share her thoughts with you.

Also, let me say this, my mom used to not bat an eye at spending serious bucks on skincare.  Like, SERIOUS bucks. She felt like her skin was important and it was worth the money to take care of it.  However, after my dad retired, she started to become more cautious about the money she was spending, and she was disappointed that her skin wasn’t looking as great as it had in the past.  She’s now excited about her skin again!!! And I know for sure that she truly loves these products, because she’s continued to buy new CR products to try them out for herself because she was THAT IMPRESSED with the results of the ones that were sent to her.

I asked her over the last several weeks to jot down what she loved about the specific products she was using, and then we talked on the phone so she could relay those thoughts to me (which you’ll see below).  Mom says her main issues include the following:  overall dryness, pigmentation issues, bumpy (not smooth and supple skin), and some fine lines (but not deep wrinkles).  Below is a recent picture of my sweet (and gorgeous) mom!  And y’all.  She gave me permission to share her age with you, but you need to prepare yourself.  She turned 70 at the end of last year.  SEVENTY!!!!!!  This was a picture at her birthday party.  LET’S HEAR IT FOR AMAZING GENES!!!!!!!!!  #pleaseletmegethergenes

So let’s get started, because there is a lot to talk about.  If it’s in italics, it’s a direct quote from my mom.  If you aren’t interested in skin care, just scroll to the bottom till you see a Kendra Scott SALE collage!

Complete Eye Cream:  I don’t deal with deep wrinkles, but I do have fine lines under my eyes, which I do feel have been softened and smoothed.  HOWEVER, the real difference I see is with the improvement of the darkness under my eyes.  The skin just seems brighter.  I still use cover up at this time, but the darkness has definitely been reduced.  It also plumps the skin, which has helped in the appearance of the fine lines.

Extreme Recovery Cream :  My mom uses this like a moisturizer.  She said it’s heavy, but not greasy. Her skin absorbs it quickly which she loves, because it doesn’t rub off on her sheets.   It’s described as a cream for “extra thirsty skin”, which my mom said her aging skin is.  She thinks the age renewal super serum targets the same problem areas, but she doesn’t use it as a moisturizer.   She also thinks her fine lines are softer because of this product.

Dual Enzyme Polish:  After I use this and rinse it off, my skin feels so smooth and clean!  And it smells so nice!  I’ve been reading a lot lately that if you don’t properly exfoliate your skin as part of you weekly routine, then the other products that you are using won’t penetrate properly…so I make sure to use this AT LEAST once a week, and often twice a week.   This product sloughs dull cells and exfoliates with fruit enzymes, and it can also be used on your hands.

Radiant Cleansing Balm:  My mom told me she likes this product, but she does feel like it’s expensive for cleanser.  She does love that it’s not drying, but she ADORES so many of the other products.  She said she might try to use a less expensive cleanser when she runs out of this one, but will continue to re-order the other products!  I will say that this product has 305 reviews posted online, and most of them are 5 STAR…so others do love this product.  One of my good friends swears by it and says she will never use another cleanser.

From Top To Bottom: Complete Eye Cream / Extreme Recovery Cream / Dual Enzyme Polish / Radiant Cleansing Balm

Retinol Treatment Complex:  I thought my kin was going to be too sensitive for this Retinol product, because I have experienced redness and dryness after using a Retinal Prescription in the past, but this didn’t irritate my skin! In addition to the Retinol, other ingredients in this product are anti-inflammatory, which my mom thinks must help calm and soothe the reaction she had in the past. When talking about wrinkles, she reported that she really only has fine lines, except for a deeper “crease” she had on the left side of her mouth.  She said, “I have DEFINITELY seen improvement with that crease.  It’s still there, but not as intense as it was.”

Sheer Renewal Cream:  This is an oil free moisturizer, so right now she prefers the Extreme Recovery Cream.  However, when it gets hot, she thinks this lighter option might be a good choice.

Salicylic Treatment Complex:  This product is absolutely amazing.  My pores on my nose have always been large, but things were starting to get serious.  There were even indentations on my nose where the pores had gotten so large.   I know that large pores are hereditary, and Mammaw had large pores, so I was really wanting to get a handle on this issue.  I’m so impressed with the results.  I have seen a remarkable difference in both the reduction in size and the overall smoothness on my nose.  I will now be using it day and night.  UM, the term hereditary got my attention.  My pore size, specifically on my nose, is already bothering me….so I will be ordering this today. #mymomtoldmeto

Retinol Treatment Complex/ Sheer Renewal Cream / Salicylic Treatment Complex

Face Oil No 9:  I love this product and use it every night.  It’s very oily when applied, but my skin must need it because it soaks it right up within a few minutes.  I love that it is so quickly absorbed.  I also use it in the daytime by putting just a dab on my laugh lines and just helps the appearance of my skin.  Just fyi:  packaging also states it can be used on dry cuticles and flyaway hair.  In addition to quenching dry skin, if you have oily skin, it’s supposed to help balance that!

Age Renewal Super Serum:  I feel like the texture of the skin on my chin was very telling of my age.  It looked like orange peel like (bumpy looking), and it’s this product that is changing that.  It’s smoothed it out considerably, and the tone seems better as well.  I also had a dark splotch on the right side of my face (not a spot, but a light splotch), and it’s definitely diminished.  I use this morning and night.  This product is supposed to improve texture and photo aging, and I definitely see both of those happening.  It says it includes peptides and collagen boosters, so I’m now a firm believer in both! 

Face Oil No. 9/ Age Renewal Super Serum

The Clarifying Detox Mask is another product that my mom RAVED about.  She’s only used it 3 times so far because she’s said it’s kind of a pain because you have to leave it on for a bit (she leaves it on for 10-15 minutes), but after this last time she used it,  she’s now a convert!  You see, last time she used it, their power went out, so she was using the flashlight on her cell phone to make sure she got it all off.  When she looked in her magnifying mirror with the flashlight, she said there was “white stuff” that had been drawn out of the top of her nose.  YUCK!  and AWESOME! ????  Do y’all remember those Biore pore strips that would pull black heads and other impurities out of your pores (but hurt like the dickens when doing it)?  She likened this product to one of those pore strips, without the pain!  She said she applies it as evenly as she can and then just washes it off .  She said, and I quote, “IT WAS SHOCKING“.  I’m ordering this product TODAY.  I’m both excited and nervous to see what gets pulled out of my nose!  I love stuff like this!
