When you think about basics that every woman’s closet needs, there are a handful of items that immediately come to mind. For example, every woman needs a great pair of jeans that makes her feel like a million bucks. Other necessary pieces include a crisp white button up, a denim jacket, and a pair of tailored black pants. AND OF COURSE, we can’t forget about a little black dress. Every woman needs at least 1 great little black dress that she can pull out for all different sorts of occasions.
Today I’m featuring 3 little black dresses. Whether you’re attending a gala, going out for a night on the town, or need a reliable outfit for a last-minute occasion, the LBD is 1 piece that will serve you well.
LITTLE BLACK DRESS #1
One of the great advantages of owning a little black dress is the incredible versatility. LBDs come in a variety of styles, lengths, and cuts, allowing everybody to find the perfect one that flatters your body and best suits your style!
This one is cute, comfortable, lightweight, and super flattering. I think it will look great on all different types of bodies. The relaxed fit, the v-neck, the flutter sleeves, the sash at the waist…I love it all. For size reference, I’m wearing a small. It is generously sized, so I think most will need to size down like I did. I will say, it is definitely on the short side, so if you are above 5″5″ I’m not sure this one will work for you.
You’re not even going to believe this, but you can grab this dress right now for only $24!
I think some dresses are best suited for either casual wear or elegant occasions, but I think you’ll find that this one will really just morph into whatever you need it to be. There’s probably at least 20 different ways that you could style this particular dress! It’s incredibly versatile.
Pair this dress with sparkly jewelry and heels for a formal event. Or you could even pair it with fashion sneakers and a denim jacket for a casual lunch with friends.
Today I’ve styled it for something like an evening business event or nice date night.
I went really simple with the jewelry with thin gold hoops, a chain necklace with a single pearl, and a mixed metal bracelet set.
And since I went simple with the jewelry, I decided to really step it up a notch (or 10) with the shoes.
Are you dying?
Because I’m dying.
I’m telling you, the bows are to die for.
And if you scroll back up to a couple of pics above, you’ll see that the heel isn’t too chunky, but it’s not too skinny either.
I think these heels would also be fantastic with some distressed ankle jeans and a dressy black shirt or sweater for a super sassy look.
True to size for me.
LITTLE BLACK DRESS #2
This little black dress is a bit different because it’s a fun floral, but I think a pretty little black floral number is a great option to have in your closet.
There are several lovely little details with this dress. I think the sheer sleeves are beautiful, and the wrap styling with the wide ruffle on the bodice and the hem is so feminine and pretty. The dress is very stretchy and quite comfortable. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
If you like this dress, but you don’t love the floral print, you can click HERE for a similar style that is just plain black.
I’ve styled it with the same simple jewelry.
And get this, with the sales happening right now, you can grab this dress for under $35 (regularly $60).
LITTLE BLACK DRESS #3
This dress is a different style than what I would typically go for, but it’s very on trend right now so I wanted to give it a try.
And since it’s just under $25 right now, it’s a great way to try out the trend.
The entire dress is sheer, but it has a stretchy slip underlay that keeps it modest throughout the bodice. The sleeves obviously continue to be sheer and the hem on the sheer overlay overhangs the underlay, so that’s sheer as well.
The sheerness is definitely unexpected, especially with the button up design! And the pintucks pleats are classic.
For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. I think I would prefer a small.
It is a bit long for my preference on my 5’4″ frame, so I think it’s better suited for taller gals.
It’s a classic shirtdress, with a sheer twist!
And just because this little black dress is only $20 right now, I thought I should highlight it again. Because it’s DARLING. And as you’ll see, it too is super versatile!
In the summer, it’s great worn casually with sandals and no additional layers.
It’s cotton, has a smocked waistband, and short sleeves with elastic cuffs.
It’s lined, very well made, and has the loveliest details! For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.
How cute are these multicolor earrings! I love them.
These sandals have become a favorite of mine over the last several months, but sadly they look to be sold out right now. I’ll keep an eye out for a restock!
To transition this piece to fall, all you need to do is switch out the sandals for booties and throw a denim jacket on top. It’s a basic outfit formula that transforms just about any outfit you have to be suitable for cooler weather.
If you don’t have a denim jacket you love, you need to consider this denim jacket. It’s a great wash, it’s stretchy, and it’s lightweight. I’m wearing the “light wash”, but there are 3 other options for you to choose from. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium, but it does run a bit big. I would recommend sizing down if between sizes.
And y’all! THIS BAG!
The color! The size! THE SCALLOPS! It’s all soooooooo good and totally affordable. It also comes in black and cream.
