I’m FULL BLOWN PUFFER CRAZY.
Yep.
I’m straight up PUFFER WACKADOODLE.
#i’mlooneyforpuffers
You get the idea.
I got my first puffer early last year, and I haven’t looked back.
First I got a white one with a fur hood, then I got a black tweed one, then I got a navy one with toggles.
Because I’m nothing if not dedicated.
I looked back at my first blog post about puffers, and it was before I even had one.
I was just realizing that I needed one, and so I was blogging about my panic over the fact that I didn’t have one yet.
Notice the hashtags on the graphic below that first appeared in a blog post in December of 2013.

As you can see above, Pinterest convinced me that I NEEDED a puffer. She’s good like that.
My fear was that a puffer vest would make me…well…..puffy.
And Lord knows I never want to appear more puffy than I actually am.
#nobodydoes
If my puffer loving self from 2014 could write a letter to that poor lost soul in 2013 that was afraid of a puffer, I think it would say something similar to the following:
Get a puffer stupid.
You’ll wear it a ton. And you won’t look too puffy. I promise.
Wow. My 2014 self really told my 2013 who was boss.
And now that we are in 2015, I feel the the need to convince all of you that aren’t already on the puffer train that you really should HOP ON ALREADY.
Let’s talk a walk down memory lane, shall we.
This is the first time I appeared on the blog in a puffer. It was in January of 2014. And it was a day that changed my life forever.
Just kidding.
Kind of.
Sadly, this exact puffer is sold out.
Again, this exact puffer is sold out. And so is the flannel. So sorry!
But I’m showing it to you to simply illustrate my love for the puffer. And this next picture does a particularly good job showing how great puffers look layered with flannels.
And after I started wearing my black tweed one a lot, I found this navy puffer with toggles, and I got it too. Because why? Say it with me now. I’m dedicated.
And I also love toggles.
And here are a couple of other times I wore it…
And here….
And lately I’ve been wearing the heck out of my original white puffer.
These next pictures show several ways I’ve worn it over the past month or so with super casual outfits. These outfits never made it to the blog, but I still really liked them!
I’ve worn it with flannels, striped tees, and hooded sweatshirts….but always with jeans and my UGG boots (lattice cardis at Zappos HERE and regular cardi UGGs at Nordstrom HERE).
I’m wearing an Old Navy flannel in this next picture, and you can find some still in stock HERE.
AND GREAT NEWS! IT’S ON SALE!!!!!!
Click HERE for a similar grey striped sweater with contrasting sleeves that I think would be so cute with this!
I love how the pink looks with the denim and the grey striped sweater.
I thought I would put together an outfit board inspired by the picture above. However, I switched out the shoes for some booties. Because I CAN’T EVEN with those shoes. (I know they are “cool” and everywhere right now, but I’m just not that cool quite yet.)
And check out THIS DARLING sweater I found. SO CUTE on it’s own, but I feel like it was kind of made to layer under a puffer! Especially this pink puffer.
And please pay special attention to the booties in the collage below. I saw them in person on the cutest girl the other day and I fell in love with them. I have no idea how I’ve passed by them so many times online…but they are fabulous in person.
And the $8 earrings are backordered (but back in stock!)
So grab them while you still can!
(And the jeans are the new Vigoss skinny jeans with a slight bit of distressing! They are fully stocked for now! WooHoo!)

Here’s the pink puffer styled on the site another way with a striped tee, a denim jacket, and distressed black boyfriend jeans. I’m totally digging the stripes and all the layers.
Click HERE for the mixed media hooded denim jacket that is under the puffer. Love.
I scoured the internet for puffers, even going to sites that I don’t personally shop at…..an Here are some puffers for you to choose from!
Fingers crossed on the availability!
Here are a handful that I’ve already shown you from LOFT:
And here are LOTS and LOTS of others to see from various sources. But beware that the sizes are picked over in a lot of them and that the prices range from a little to a lot!
Some more casual options:
Some plus size options:
Some other solid and patterned options that I’m totally loving:
And some Old Navy options:
(The thumbnail pictures above were giving me trouble before I headed to bed late last night. If they aren’t working this morning, then check back in a bit. I will hopefully get them fixed soon!)
And I almost feel bad showing you this next pic, because the top is almost sold out, but since we’ve talked about how great flannels with look with puffers, I didn’t want to leave it out!
I got this top several weeks ago, but am just now getting around to posting it.
For size reference, I sized up and am wearing a medium in this top.
Also, I’m not sure if you can tell, but this shirt is a light flannel!
There are other options available that aren’t on sale, but they are fully stocked!
LOVE the one on the left. I’m thinking it must be flannel too and would look awesome on it’s own, layered under a green cardi (like in Friday’s post), or layered under a puffer (of course)!

And THESE shoes that I posted on facebook over the weekend are still on sale too!
Lots of great reviews online as well as from PTMT readers on facebook!
I ordered a pair for myself!

That’s all for today ladies on the fashion front!
I wonder how many of you are already puffer vest crazy with me and how many of you have been slow to jump on the puffer train?!? Feel free to sound off in the comments!
I do have a couple of personal things to share with you before you go today….
This picture is on my parent’s fridge from my wedding almost 14 years ago now.
It’s one of my favorite pictures of us of all times, so I snapped a picture of it with my cell phone to share with y’all today.
I LOVE YOU DAD!
Also, I’m hoping that all of you are following along with Shay and her family on their adoption journey! Well, they are finally a family of five!
They got Ashby on Sunday afternoon China time (which was the middle of the night for us on Saturday) and I’m constantly amazed, in awe, and blessed by the pictures that she’s sending. She’s posted a couple on social media, but the group texts that our little group has been sharing with Shay have been filled with so much love and excitement for this little girl that is already so loved by so many.
My heart just about bursts out of my chest each time we get to see a new picture of Ashby with her new forever family! And I am just so proud of Kensington and Smith! They are already being such loving and caring siblings to this sweet girl.
I mean…look at these precious kids.
I am imagining that Shay will be blogging soon about some of the moments they’ve already experienced with her and you will probably get to see some more pictures too! There could even be a new blog post up today! Click HERE to get to her blog! And find her on instagram HERE.
I can promise you that you will be blessed following along on their journey. I know that I certainly have been. I’ve burst into tears twice. 🙂
We are so thankful that Ashby’s first 24 hours with her family has gone so smoothly, but we all know that there are still going to be some really hard times too. I am excited to see Shay and the rest of the family work through them and constantly build up and nurture their newest member’s little heart!
And I will be praying them through each moment!!!!
I would love if you followed along and prayed for them too!
See you guys back here on Wednesday!
I’m planning on starting my Bachelor recaps on Wednesday, but we will see how the next couple of days with my dad goes!
xoxo,
Sheafer 🙂

Oh, Sheaffer- I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. What a scary thing, but I'm glad he's doing a bit better and will definitely get to praying. My heart is so happy for Shay's family, and I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for them and sweet Ashby. As for puffer vests, #i'mawhackadoodletoo. Seriously, I could wear one everyday. My very favorite are the quilted ones from JCrew. I just wish they weren't so proud of them!

I love your blog! I need your opinion on Ugg kisses mini? Are they too childish looking? I have always thought Uggs were UGGly but now I see the need for them for leggings. I hate spending the $ on shoes I will only be able to wear on a Saturday (aka can't wear to work) so how do you feel about off brand ugg style? Or do you have other options for casual less expensive boots with leggings (got THE leggings from Nordstrom – my first ever Nordstrom purchase – and they are fab for a 5'10" long leg girl, your suggestion was perfect!)??

I am crazy about puffers right now too! 🙂 I just got the cutest one from Lilly Pulitzer in black & white.

What a great picture of you and your Dad. I'll be praying for a quick recovery for him.

Oh what you wrote about your dad absolutely touched my heart. You are so lucky that you have a dad who reads your blog about fashion because he knows how important it is to you and he wants to be able to wow you with his "must-haves" knowledge. Special thoughts going out to him and his continued recovery. I hope you really know how fortunate you are to have a dad like him.
Quick note on the booties you highlighted. I am a booties girl and have many MANY different brands and styles. I am partial to ones with high chunky heels or wedges, so perhaps my take on these booties is somewhat skewed because they are flat. I bought them in the pewter grey. My opinion is they are not totally comfortable (not terrible, but not great); the zipper rubs my ankles; the zipper does not go up and down with ease; when I got a spot on the end of the toe, I rubbed it gently and the color actually changed and is now matte there instead of being shimmery (that fault could be specific to just the pewter color); and if I'm being honest, I almost felt elfish while wearing them (again, that could be due to the color). They do look cuter in the brown you highlighted.

Big prayers for your dad – but thankful that the doctors have a treatment plan. (Modern medicine is awesome!) And speaking of puffers – I'm wearing my Old Navy frost free "Bluetiful" puffer with the plaid lining and fur trimmer hood, with an Old Navy flannel shirt (like the one in your picture) and it is one of my favorite outfits of the winter! It is so comfy, yet pulled together enough (with Hue jean leggings & cognanc boots) to wear to work. Thanks for all of the recommendations!
Amy Kleis says
Awe…prayers for your sweet dad….what an adorable pic…..big hugs to you!!!
Soooo incredibly happy for Shay and her family…..That seriously is me like 35+ years ago when I got adopted into an american family from Korea, but I have lots of admiration for them and might need their input as we might venture down that same road…..Tired of being the only girl in this house!!! Lol
Amy Kleis says
Oh, and BTW….Old Navy has the most adorable hot pink puffer that I could NOT pass up!!! I'll take pic when I have it on!!!
Carrie says
Love your blog, love puffers!! I just feel compelled to write about a feature I really love on one of my puffers: the two way zipper! It sounds trivial, but it is not! It allows you to have the puffer zipped but also feel comfortable when you leave the bottom part unzipped about five inches (no major scrunching of the puffer, lays nicely when you are sitting down, doesn't scrunch up around your neck). Jcrew old puffers used to come with this (one still does this year) and the Jcrew factory ones do this as well. I swear it makes puffers so much better, try it!!
Gail Wilson says
I am so sorry to hear your news. Please know you both are in my thoughts. It's times like these that remind us what's really important. Not that a life changing pair of jeans and a sweet puffer vest can't bring a girl happiness, but it does make for a nice distraction when life throws us a curve.
On another note, keep up the FAB work! I only wished you posted all week; Tuesdays and Thursdays just aren't the same with out my not-so-personal stylist close at hand. 🙂
Alecia Mariana says
Man, you've done some really great convincing on getting a puffer. I have to (cautiously) admit I don't have one yet! I know I know. Keeping your dad in our thoughts!!

My name is Melissa and I'm a puffer vest-a-holic. Looking at my closet the other day, I noticed that I could maybe open my own little puffer vest shop. Its bordering on obscene. I tried to pare it down, but it didn't go very well. Here's the thing, I don't like a heavy bulky coat in the winter. I like to layer things up and the vest is THE perfect blend of warmth and style. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Thanks for writing a whole page about puffer vests! LOL

I LOVE puffers too!!! They make my heart happy! 😉 It makes me happy that I can wear one and not have to bundle up with a HUGE coat! (unless its below freezing and in that case this momma is staying inside in her jammies)
So happy that your dad is ok! I know that was so scary! Still sending up prayers!

I just bought a navy and white gingham shirt from J Crew Factory and 2 puffer vests from Lands End. Lands End is having a great sale right now and the puffers I bought were only $16.99 each!! Can't wait to get them! I bought a bright orange and hot pink. Love reading your blog.

I think you look so cute in your puffer! And I want one, but I just wonder how practical are they? I mean, they are like outerwear, but with no arms, so they only work where the weather isn't extremely cold?
