One of my favorite things to do on the blog is show you several ways to style an item. I know it’s easy to get stuck into outfit ruts, so I think it’s quite helpful to be given ideas for new and different ways to wear things. That is why the Style It Again, Sheaffer series was born…and I’ve got a Style It Again post for you today!
Today’s Stye It Again post has two purposes:
- I want to show you 4 different ways to style a pair of gray jeans.
- I want to prove to you that gray jeans are a great item to have in your closet.
OUTFIT #1
I MEAN.
HOW CUTE IS THIS OUTFIT.
First, let’s have a moment with the jeans.
These gray wide leg jeans are FABULOUS. I think they are a great medium gray color (not too light, not too dark) and they are totally clean without any distressing. And although I’m still rocking my skinny jeans (I have this gray pair of skinnies that I love), I wanted to update my gray jean game this fall. When I saw these, I knew I wanted to give them a try. And great news! They are from my favorite denim brand, so of course they have the figure-flattering Ab-Solution power mesh panels that are going to mold and hold us in all the right places. #allthepraisehandsforpowermeshpanels For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4 in the jeans.
And while of course all of today’s outfits would look great with gray skinny jeans, I’m loving the updated wide leg silhouette! (This is also a great time to mention that all of today’s top/jackets would also look great with regular denim as well. If you’re not a gray girl, that’s okay! But I’m telling you, I’m going to do my absolute best to convert you to a gray jeans girl by the end of this post.)

Also, not only am I wearing the wide leg gray jeans in all of today’s outfits, I’m also wearing these cognac booties in all 4 outfits. I saw these booties in store last week and knew I wanted them. All of my booties from last year are suede, so I was excited to add a leather pair to my closet. It’s always great to have a leather option for rainy days, plus I just love how the leather looks so polished.
These booties come in bone and black as well, but I knew I would get the most wear (and bang for my buck) out of this beautiful cognac color. Also, I wanted a cognac bootie specifically for this post. Black would typically be the more traditional color to pair with gray, but don’t you think cognac adds interest to the outfit? Cognac looks great with regular denim (all color washes), with black denim with white denim, and with gray denim. #cognacforthewin These have a 3-inch block heel, a pointy toe, and the comfort level is spot on. For size reference, I sized up a 1/2 in these.

Okay, let’s get to the rest of the outfit.
Are you dying over this jacket?
It’s a gorgeous wine color and it’s got some stretch in it (which I think is always necessary in a great jacket). It’s not bulky at all, but the material does have some weight to it, so it will be awesome all the way into late fall. True to size for me, I’m wearing a medium.

The hoops are simple and classic, with just a tiny bit of bling on them. They go with EVERYTHING.
The heart necklace is whimsical, great on its own and when layered with other pieces.

This sweater is my idea of a perfect sweater for early fall. It’s super cute on its own, but it’s also made for layering because it’s lightweight. The v-neck is pretty deep (which I like on this top because it adds interest), and I love the longer sleeve length. One reviewer said it was too short on her, but it’s actually quite long on me. It has a cute banded hem, so it can be worn out with ease, but y’all know that I almost always prefer a half tuck in order to create a waistline. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. If between sizes, I would size down.

This base outfit would also be super cute if you swapped out this jacket for a regular denim jacket. Since the denim is wide legged, I would recommend a semi-fitted jacket like this one to help define your shape.

OUTFIT #2
Cream and gray together are a classic pairing. And the cognac booties really top off this whole look.
Doesn’t the outfit look so chic?

I’m totally smitten with this collared sweater.

I know the collar trend has been big for a while now, but I had just never found any collared tops I liked, UNTIL NOW. The sleeve length is a bit longer (which I always appreciate), the sleeves have a subtle puff with tiny pleats at the shoulders, there’s a banded hem, and of course it has the exaggerated collar styling. This sweater is very on trend with its preppy vibes, and it’s sooooo soft. I’m sad it looks like this color is well on its way to being sold out, but there are several other colors available. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. I would recommend sizing down if between sizes.

And I’m sorry, but we need to have another moment for this jean and boot color combo.
It’s so dang good.

OUTFIT #3
Give me alllllllllll the neutral tones for Outfit #3.
puff sleeve tee / disc necklace / black leather tote / earrings / cuff bracelet / grey wide leg jeans / cognac boots
This puff sleeve tee is to die for.
puff sleeve tee / disc necklace / black leather tote / earrings / cuff bracelet / grey wide leg jeans / cognac boots
The body is just a basic soft black tee, BUT THESE SLEEVES.
These sleeves, y’all! They are EXTRA in the best way possible.
They’ve got a bit of a puff up at the shoulder, and a ruffle under an elasticized band. And oh my word I love the gingham.
THIS TOP IS DARLING.
For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. Again, I would size down if between sizes.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd one last moment for the booties.
Oh, and the bag! This black leather tote is awesome carried cross body (as seen above) as well as over the shoulder. It’s a super soft leather and has lots of room for all things, but it’s not too overwhelmingly big. It has fantastic ratings, but it sadly looks like the black is currently sold out. You can still grab it in a really dark forest green right now, but I will of course keep y’all posted on if the black gets a restock.

OUTFIT #4
Y’all know I love a nice and flowy top.
I feel like this floral peasant blouse was made for me. I know this is one of those tops that I will reach for constantly. I’ll wear it with denim shorts, regular denim, and black denim.
floral peasant blouse / earrings / heart necklace / cuff bracelet / grey wide leg jeans / cognac boots
I think the floral pattern is so pretty, and I’m loving the dark and moody colors. It definitely has a boho vibe, and I think the fit is so fun. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium, but I’m going to order the small to try it as well. The sizing is generous, and I know the fit is supposed to be swingy and relaxed, so I’m not sure yet what size I’m going to prefer.

All the heart eyes for the colors and pattern.
This top feels very romantic to me.

If you want a bracelet that makes a statement, then this cuff bracelet is for you! It’s a textured gold, and its large size enables you to add some drama to just about any outfit.

GRAY JEAN OPTIONS
Since I have a hunch my gray wide-leg jeans are going to go fast, I wanted to provide you with some options! Now listen, a lot of the options below are pretty pricey. However, I did find a couple that are under $80! #5 and #7 are both from Wit and Wisdom, so not only is the price right, but you can pretty much guarantee you are going to love the fit (while being comfy and looking skinny) all day long. I’ve had #7 for over a year now and LOVE them.

I hope today inspired you ladies!
If you don’t have a pair of grey jeans yet, I hope you decided to add a pair to your closet. And if you already have and love a pair of gray jeans, I hope today gave you some new outfit ideas and ways to wear them. Get creative! Pull different pieces out of your closet that you might not have paired with them before, and just see if it works. You might surprise yourself!
Here are a handful of other tops that would look great with gray jeans:
- Blush, Olive, and Rust are all colors that go beautifully with gray. Check out this cardigan that comes in all 3 colors! Pair it with a v-neck tee and your gray jeans and you’ll be ready for fall!
- For a dressy vibe, I think this wine color sweater with the floral tie at the neck would look amazing with gray jeans and cognac booties.
- I love wearing rust in the fall, and there are a lot of great rust options HERE.
So I’m dying to know… which look was your favorite from today? Sound off in the comments!

So excited to see an example of a different fit of jean I can get on board with! It is odd how you adjust to seeing a new look, and I’m starting to feel dated just wearing my skinny jeans. I won’t drop them completely but I am ready to try something new. Thank you for showing how to do so without looking like I’m trying to copy my high schooler!
You look beautiful in all the outfits, but I adore that puff sleeve and wine is a perfect color for you!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Sally! First of all, thank you for the kind words!!! I’ll still be wearing my skinny jeans too, but it’s been fun trying a new trend! xoxo

Every single look is PERFECTION! The denim is already low inventory, I’ll keep checking on it. Great post!!!
