It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!
FAVORITE #1: OUR LITTLE GUY
Well. This picture makes my heart swell with pride..and then it breaks it right in half. That’s what being a mama is pretty much all about! 🙂
Carter’s last day of 1st grade was yesterday. He had a wonderful year, learned so much, and made lots of great friends! We are most proud of him because he tries hard, is respectful, and is sweet and kind. And he’s pretty dang funny as well! But I have to say, this BEFORE and AFTER split screen makes me want to rock back and forth in a corner to self soothe and bawl. Where did his baby face go????? And look how much taller he is (check out his head in relation to the door!)! We love you Carter!
I could SERIOUSLY bawl my head off.
FAVORITE #2: SUPERGOOP
I’ve mentioned these products on instagram and facebook recently, but today I’m finally sharing some new favorite products with you on the blog! When Supergoop reached out to me last month to talk about their products, I told them I wanted to learn a little bit about them before I decided if I wanted to spread the word. After gathering some information, I couldn’t wait to share their products with you!
I learned long ago that what you put ON your body is just as important as what you put IN your body (which is even more important to me now that I’m a mom) and Supergoop knows this too. Carter’s pediatrician had given me a handout on what to look for in sunscreen (ingredients that should and should not be in sunscreen), and the Supergoop ingredients list matched up! If you want to learn more about the ingredients and the philosophy behind their ingredient choices, I suggest heading to the Frequently Asked Questions page on their site.
SO. I thought I was going to be introducing all of y’all to this company, but it turns out lots of you were huge fans already! I loved how when I shared the below pic of me and Carter wearing the sunscreen on ig last Friday (it was National Sunscreen Day), I had so many followers ABSOLUTELY RAVE about Supergoop’s products!
Here are some of my favorite products. Y’all. The CC cream is AMAZING (which is what most of you sang praises about as well). It’s like a tinted moisturizer that’s perfect to wear to the pool or beach. Actually, I liked it so much that I would definitely wear it even when not planning on being out in the sun all day or around water. The body products feel great on your skin and have a pleasant (but not overpowering smell), and they have cool things that are WAY MORE than just plain ol’ sunscreen. Like the shine on lipscreen (that goes over your lipstick or gloss) and the defense refreshing setting mist. Here are some of their most popular products. Just click on what you are interested in!
If you are already familiar with Supergoop and their line, I would love for you to leave a comment naming your favorite products!
FAVORITE #3: THIS MAXI
My post last Friday was about this maxi. See the post HERE if you want to see more pics of it. I wore the exact same outfit again, but I switched out my cross body for my cork clutch! I’m wearing a petite small in the dress (I’m almost 5’4″) and I suggest sizing up a 1/2 size in the wedges that are STILL ON SALE! I wear these wedges all the time (both with casual and dressy outfits), and I PROMISE they are comfy!
maxi dress / BEST STRAPLESS BRA EVER (bra for smaller cup sizes HERE)/ MUST HAVE denim jacket / cross body / cork wedges ON SALE / open hoop charm earrings / gold bangle / abalone bangle / $18 necklace / cork clutch with monogram

FAVORITE #4: THIS TOP
A couple of weeks ago in THIS post I showed you this top with what I declared my SUMMER JEANS OF 2016. (Sadly, the jeans are sold out now, but I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for a re-stock.) Well, yesterday I wore it with white jeans and cognac sandals (and I wore it ON the shoulder instead of off the shoulder since I was heading to Carter’s school for some end of the year festivities).
Sidenote: please excuse my hair. Carter was really sick earlier this week and I had to cancel my hair appt that I was already overdue for (gasp)! It’s now officially hit the stage where I can’t do anything with it, so there ya go. 😉 And I’m of course carrying my new tote. #cantstop #wontstop
top / necklace / best strapless bra EVER / similar white jeans with FABULOUS reviews / bracelet trio / watch / cognac sandals ON SALE / tote bag c/o Fashionable
I’ve had lots of questions about my new tote, so I thought I would give you a close up so you can see the quality of the leather and what I mean when I say the inside is unfinished. As you can see, it’s an open tote and doesn’t close with a zipper or snap or anything. There’s also no pockets inside. STILL. I LOVE IT. And I get compliments on it everywhere I go. Strangers stop me constantly. Seriously. But you can see why. It’s gorgeous. Oh, and you can also choose to have it monogrammed for $8 if you wish!
Here’s a shot of the raw interior. It’s cool and rustic, and I love it.
If you want to see some more of their products “in real life”, check out their instagram feed. It’s beautiful, and you get a chance to check out a lot of their products out in the real world!
FAVORITE #5: SWEET FRIENDS
I know many of you are familiar with who Manda is. She’s my amazing and inspiring friend who is battling cancer for the 3rd time. I know many of you have prayed and are still praying for her, and we appreciate that so much. Please continue to pray!
Well, she had a big birthday last week, and our little group of girls went out to celebrate with her. We got a limo to surprise her (this was before we picked her up) and headed to Mash’d.
It was so much fun celebrating our brave friend.
Two of us weren’t there (Lisa had her mom’s retirement reception and Jeni had GIVEN BIRTH like 6 hours before). So, we did what any great group of friends would do. We had the limo swing us by the hospital!
And yes. That’s my friend Jeni. Who had pushed a baby out of her body a mere 6 or so hours before this picture was taken. #rockstar #supermodel
FAVORITE #6: THE TREND ACCESSORIES DEPARTMENT AT NORTHPARK
I do most of my shopping online now because it’s just so much easier. However, when I do my in store shopping, I do most of it at Stonebriar in Frisco. It’s a smaller store, it’s closer to my home, and it’s fast to get in and out of. Plus, it has Tin Star tacos. So there’s that. 😉
But when I have time, I actually prefer to go to Northpark. It’s the mall I grew up going to, and it has Anthro and Lou and Grey…two stores that Stonebriar does not have. Plus, the Nordstrom is way bigger at Northpark. The Northpark Nordstrom has a Trend Accessories Department that is found in the middle of the store on the 2nd floor. If you are looking for a bag or jewelry that is nicer than the selection in BP, but not as nice as the women’s bag department or jewelry department downstairs, then Trend Accessories is your spot. For bags, you’ll see brands like Big Buddha, Sole Society, Phase 3, Urban Originals, and Street Level.
When I was at Northpark last week, I stopped at this favorite little spot of mine and grabbed some pics to show you what kind of items you will find there! First I tried on several bags.
This is the outfit I was wearing: top / turquoise circle hoop earrings c.o. Sole Society / $18 necklace / bracelet trio /similar jeans from same maker (just a darker wash and less distressing) / leopard footwear options
Since my white flowy top is sold out, I thought I would pull together some options for y’all, and many of them are ON SALE! Just click on what you are interested in!
You can find this straw bottomed vegan leather bag HERE. It only has 3 reviews on the site, but they are all 5 star and FANTASTIC. People that have this bag absolutely adore it. It also comes in black! The leather was soooo soft, and I thought the straw bottom was such a nice touch for spring and summer. It was big, but not huge, which I enjoyed. 😉
And here are two great smaller cross body bags. Perfect for when you need to be hands free and still look cute! 😉
brown crossbody / perforated black cross body
And here are some other bags in the trend department. All bags shown are UNDER $100 and are just fun for summer!
In addition to bags, there are also lots of great accessories to choose from. My favorite brands are Panacea, Nakamol (really pretty and unique beaded items), Sole Society, and BaubleBar that has great statement pieces (THIS orange and turquoise necklace is a definite fave, and it’s ONLY $32!). And just FYI, I ordered THIS lariat necklace because I was so intrigued! Stay tuned for pics of it in an outfit after it arrives. Unless I hate it, because it could go either way. Ha!
Click HERE for this stone and tassel necklace! Notice how the beads on the actual necklace are different colors, the white stone would pop stone nicely against colored tops, and the tassel is so much fun! Click HERE for my turquoise hoop earrings c/o Sole Society, but also available at Nordstrom HERE!
Click HERE for this interesting tassel with the turquoise disc. I wasn’t initially drawn to this necklace, but the sweet girl working there told me I had to try it on. So I did. #thenordstromgirltoldmeto #andiamtoplease And you know what? She was right! It had a southwestern feel to it, and is different than anything else I own, which made me really like it!
The exact scarf I’m wearing is sold out, but click HERE for the scarf in turquoise and red! Man, I love a pom pom. Click HERE for all scarves in this department.

FAVORITE #7: BACHELORETTE RECAP
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the Bachelorette recap for episode 2, please do so now by clicking HERE. Just look how cute this guy is!
FAVORITE #8: The $34 Dress
I mentioned this on facebook mid-week, but the $34 dress has been re-stocked in several colors (and also comes in some new colors and even some patterns)!
Click HERE if you want to see what other readers had to say about the dress on facebook (and to see a pic of me in the striped dress with a denim jacket and turquoise necklace!). It appears there is a large amount of variance regarding dress length and arm-hole size from dress to dress. If you are 5’7″ or over, it seems the consensus is that the dress will be way too short on you. However, several taller girls liked it enough to keep it as a cover up anyway! And the ones that got dresses that the arm holes were too big, many said they liked it enough to keep it and would just plan on wearing a cardi or jean jacket with it. At $34, it just might be worth the risk. At almost 5’4″, the small fits me best if I’m wearing it as a dress…and the x-small fits me best for a pool cover-up. I have three of these myself (the plain black, the white with black stripes, and them denim), and the arm holes are all fine on me. Click HERE if you want to see the post where I style the black dress 4 different ways!
FAVORITE #9: READER’S CHOICE SANDALS
I’ve received enough e-mails about THESE sandals from you ladies that I thought I should probably talk about them on Friday Favorites! Soooo many of you have let me know that Target was carrying these sandals that look very similar to my Steve Madden sandals from last year. I tried them on last time I was at Target (the sizes were picked over so I had to try them on in a size too big), but I didn’t think they were very comfy. HOWEVER! Lots of you have them and think that they are plenty comfy for the price! So, if any of you out there are looking for a real bargain…check them out HERE! (The 2016 version of mine from Steve Madden can be found HERE.)
FAVORITE #10: I DON’T ACTUALLY HAVE A #10, BUT I COULDN’T STAND TO END ON 9.
😉
Have a wonderful weekend with your people! See you back here on Monday for an outfit recreation!
Kelsey @aslolife says
I wear that supergoop CC cream everyday, I love it!. I have pale skin and freckles (that I dont want to cover) so I can’t really wear traditional foundation and the CC cream is the perfect amount of lightweight coverage–plus the quality and ingredients are amazing!

Love the boy, the Goop, the tassel scarf, the white top and THE FRIENDS! Happy Friday Sheaffer! xoxoxo PS: Call me when you wake up this morning 😉

How is little Carter getting so big?? He’s halfway up your door! We should cry together!
I’m loving all your favorites!! Can’t wait to hang ALL summer!
Narci says
Aw!! We love that Carter to pieces!!! He is so sweet and kind, and I am so thankful for him!! Happy summer, friend!! Xoxo

Aabout the $34 dress. I have 2. One is short, and I wear it for a pool cover up. One is longer, and I wear it to work (I’m a 1st grade teacher). I love both of them and can’t believe it’s such a great deal. Several of my team at school have ordered them as well. We love that it’s so comfy.
I’ve been using Supergoop products for the last couple of summers, and I’ve turned so many friends and family members on to them. I too am very careful about what I put on my body, and Supergoop measures up. I highly recommend their products.
Nancy says
I love the dress! I have one and just ordered another. I love the pockets and it’s the perfect length. I just ordered the bag. Have you had problems with things leaving stains on it? I read reviews on the website about this. After I ordered it!
Sheaffer says
Hi Nancy! I haven’t! I even spilled Dr. Pepper inside of it (when sneaking a Dr. Pepper into a movie after dinner one night!), and although there was a dark circle on it that night and I thought it was ruined…..it dried and it was fine! It’s also been rained on and all the spots disappeared! Hope I continue to have good luck! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

I LOVE the Target knock offs of the Steve Madden sandals! They are my go-to shoe right now!

Sheaffer, I love your blog! I only found you about two months ago, and since then, it seems I have a Nordstrom box on my porch every few days! 🙂 I’m stocked with the must-have cork wedges, a variety of tassel necklaces, and that Caslon maxi dress! Ha.
I just wanted to comment on that swing dress from Nordstrom which is such a great deal. I ordered it, and while I liked it, I actually returned it because on me, the arms/neck weren’t quite as flattering. (I’m 5’4″ and a size small, but not nearly as in shape as you!). I just wanted to offer an alternative, which is the Old Navy Swing Dress. I was surprised by the quality and the fit. You can see there are over 400 reviews and almost a full 5*. When they come on sale, they’re like $10! I ordered three and love them. Just a thought if you might want to feature that as well in the future since there are 9 colors! (Only the Coral seemed to be slightly see through)…http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=133885002&vid=3&cvosrc=ppc.google.&cvo_campaign=181447895&cvo_adgroup=9232781855&cvo_crid=53222553815&Matchtype=&campaigntype=PLA&tid=onpl000000&kwid=1&ap=7&sem=true&mkwid=moQvpR9r_dc&creative=53222553815&adpos=1o2&gclid=CKG9qfaGjM0CFQqKaQodxTIPLg
Anyhow, I love your blog. I found it postpartum and now that I’m just getting back in shape, it’s really helped me to refresh my wardrobe!

I can’t wait to order that FashionABLE tote; it’s just about perfect! BTW, you should really wear black bags more often. That cross body looks great on you and makes that outfitl!
Been a Supergoop fan forever; love the BB cream. I must add the face spray and lip screen to my collection. As a fair skinned redhead, I am on high alert every day to protect my pale, freckly self!
The Southern Stylista says
I’m just dying over that tote! I have a leather clutch that it made very similarly-with a raw interior and it’s one of my most complimented pieces! Everyone loves the rustic, yet polished look! You should check them out, they’re a local product in Alabama (Huntsville) called Holtz Leather Co. they’re just your style!
By the way, I’m not affiliated with them at all, I just really love their products and you!

Kim says
Hi, what size are you wearing in the off-the-shoulder top? It’s so cute and I want to order it but unsure on size. Thanks!
Sheaffer says
Hi Kim! I’m wearing a small, so it’s true to size! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Alison says
Just wanted to let you know that Old Navy has a VERY similar dress to the $34 striped dress on sale right now for $18 (or less depending on color). I also just bought their t-Shirt dress in black and a bright blue and white stripe. Both have really good reviews and people talk about how they are fall/spring/summer staples! Both come in a variety of colors!!
Also, if you happen to see this today…online Old Navy is 30% your entire shopping cart! What a steal!
🙂

Carter is such a handsome little boy. They do grow up way too fast. My oldest son graduated in May and starts grad school in August and I am like where is my little boy. And even though my youngest son has a few years left in college, I am already such a mess.
Missy@My Sh!tty Kitchen says
Wow he certainly grew a lot in one school year! I have the best strapless bra ever after all this time I just realized it is the same one. It is the best! I need that leather tote and the asymmetrical hem shirt. Reminds me of the one from the fall you recommended that i now have in three colors! Have a great weekend!
Katie says
I’m looking at ordering the face sunscreen, does it sting your eyes at all? All the face sunscreens I’ve used make my eyes burn when I’m in the water. We’re avid boaters and swimmers so I’m always in the market for good sunscreen. Luckily were all relatively Olive skin but still need to protect ourselves.
Sheaffer says
It doesn’t sting mine at all Katie! Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Danielle says
I LOVE supergroup! I especially love the City Serum and I have been wanting to try the sunscreen oil, but haven’t had a chance to pick it up.
Amy says
Hi Shaffer:. I love you and your blog so much and I rarely miss a post! You are so great :). That said, I’ve noticed SuperGoop being mentioned a lot by bloggers lately, and that concerns me. I know it’s hard to analyze ingredient labels. I have spent the last few years heavily researching skin care ingredients because I have super sensitive skin as well as little kids to care for and protect. I noticed that the first ingredient in this Sunscreen is Octi n o x a t e. Please note that this is a potentially dangerous chemical. Here is an interesting article on it (I’m not in any way affiliated with the author). http://www.annmariegianni.com/ingredient-watch-list-octinoxate-the-potentially-dangerous-chemical-sunscreen/. You can also do a search on the Environmental Working Group website. Look, Sunscreen can be made using super simple ingredients. (I love Badger Unscented, to name one option.). I don’t understand why companies insist on using potentially harmful stuff (well maybe I do kniw why. Hello $$$. Chemicals are cheaper). Please know that doctors are not always fully educated on this topic. You can always start by doing your own research. (And also, any kind of mist or spray is harmful, especially to kids and babies when they inhale the spray while it’s being applied.). Knowing what I know, it’s just really hard for me to sit back and not share information on this topic. My kids are important to me, but so is the health of all children (and people for that matter :). Thank you for your wonderful blog!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Amy! Thank you for this information. I will do some of my own research based upon your recommendations. I agree, it is hard to analyze ingredients! I tried to do my due diligence, and was excited when the pedi handout I had matched up with the Supergoop ingredients! Thanks for your sweet comment. xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
