BRAXTON THE BRAVE UPDATE

Last week I posted my cousin Alden’s fundraiser that she was conducting.  She was committed to raising money for a local family whose son Braxton is experiencing very serious health issues as a result of the chemotherapy he received.  She had a lofty goal of $31,000 so the entire family would be able to attend therapy for an entire year.  WELL.  She BLEW THAT GOAL OUT OF THE WATER.

Y’all.  She raised $72,319!!!  A huge thank you to all of you that gave so generously.

And OH MY HEART.  Braxton and his brother made a thank you video for Alden to share.  It is one of the most precious things I have ever seen.  Head to Alden’s ig account @feeding.friday.night.lights to see the video  for yourself.  It’s worth your time, I promise.

They are absolutely overwhelmed with your generosity, your love, and your prayers.  Please continue to pray for this sweet boy, his family, and the doctors.

SMALL RESTOCK OF JEANS! HURRY!

Okay, ladies.  IT’S GO TIME.  These jeans were sold out in sizes 0-10 for weeks…..but now they are back in small quantities in most sizes!!!  I was able to check on the stock, and I know that sizes 0 through 8 have between 9-25 pairs that are currently available.  Sizes 10 -14 have between 25-45 available.

If I had to choose just 1 pair of jeans for myself right now, these would be the jeans I would choose.

You will feel like a million bucks in them.

The site calls them “skinny jeans”, but I think of them more of a subtle straight leg.  You can see below how they aren’t super skinny through the calf and they aren’t fitted around my ankles.

They’re a great medium wash with no distressing (just a bit of fading), and I love the subtle frayed hem with the small side slit. They’ve got a great straight leg that’s not too big, and the jeans have just the right amount of stretch in them so they are super comfortable, but they don’t sag during the day. Oh, and they are incredibly flattering with the Ab-solution technology that slims, shapes and lifts in all the right places.  Again, I don’t think they’re a true skinny jean, but they’re not a boyfriend jean or mom jean either. They look awesome with booties, with mules, with flats, and with sneakers.

I’m obsessed with them.

For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4, but I would definitely recommend sizing down if between sizes.  In fact, I think most size down in this particular pair.

SWEATERS AND MULES

If you follow me on facebook, you got a sneak preview of these items on Wednesday night.

I got a HUGE Amazon order in on Wednesday afternoon, but my Amazon haul isn’t for several weeks and I just couldn’t wait to share these pieces because I’m afraid the sizes might be picked over by the official post.

Look at the beautiful green!  I love a beige sweater.  And I’m DYING over the fair isle pattern. AND THESE MULES!  I got a medium in all the sweaters, although a small would have been fine in both the green one and the beige one.  It looks like I definitely need a medium in the fair isle  I ordered a 1/2 size up in the mules, but I wish I would have stuck with my regular size!

GAME DAY

Tuesday was GAME DAY for football, and the boys humored me again on the way to school.  I love that they are actually getting in to dress up day.  I think they all look so sharp!

I wore one of my new navy shirts to the game (again) and of course had to wear my new sling bag!  It’s perfect for football games!

This babydoll peplum top in navy is definitely a great choice for me since navy is the team color.  I actually have this tee already in red and in blush from year’s past, so I knew I would like the style and fit.  For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

PEDI TOOL FEEDBACK

I posted a pedi tool last week, and a ton of y’all bought it.  Since that post, I’ve been receiving TONS of really great feedback.  Here are just some of the messages…

I bought it yesterday based on your earlier recommendation. I just used it tonight and it really is fantastic! My problem areas are my heels and side of the big toe- worked great on both! I have definitely taken off too much with the cheese grater- but this was perfect! – Amy S.

My husband got me one for Mother’s Day. I wasn’t thrilled about it at first, but now I LOVE it! Makes my feet feel so smooth. After using it, I like to rub my feet down with some Vaseline and/or lotion to make them feel even smoother. – Tara S.

After using this tool ONCE, my heels that were previously in realllllllllly bad shape are now as smooth as a baby’s butt.  FOR REAL.  You charge it with a USB charging cord and it comes with 2 different roller heads.  It removes calluses and dry cracked skin in a safe way.  I’m telling you, SOFT AS A BABY’S BUTT.  I also use it on the side of my big toe that tends to get rough as well.  I’m HIGHLY RECOMMENDING this tool.  It’s under $18 and worth every penny.

MIDDLE SCHOOL FUN

On Saturday, Carter went to downtown McKinney for Oktoberfest with his friend Jackson’s family.  As soon as they realized our neighbor Mallie was having her 13th birthday party at her house, they started cooking up a plan to crash the party.  I called Keely (Mallie’s mama and one of my besties), asked her if it was okay, and then the plan was put into action for the boys to crash the party.  This was the boys right before they started banging on the fence (all of the girls were in the backyard) to scare them.

After they scared the girls, they joined the party for a bit.  And I’m telling you, they had the time of their lives.  Don’t ask me about the cowboy hat.  I have no idea.  Haha!

It was a night that middle school memories are made of!

AMAZON FINDS

This neon ombre hooded sweatshirt has near perfect ratings.  It’s more expensive than most of my Amazon purchases, but I’m really happy with it and am keeping it.  It’s very lightweight, but still manages to be warm.  It’s soft and lined with a really light fleece.  For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

SALE ALERT!  SALE ALERT!  SALE ALERT!

I know tons of you have this sweater already.  HECK.  I have it in 4 colors and talked about it countless times last year and pretty much begged y’all to get it.  But for those of you that don’t have it yet, here’s a quick review….

First and foremost, it is so incredibly soft.  SERIOUSLY so sooooooooooo soft.  And it’s a super relaxed fit (which I love).  It has a bit of a bat wing design, but it’s still very flattering. I’m wearing the small here and it’s still quite roomy. It comes in 12 total colors.  

I had a lot of people asking me about the fabric content last week since we couldn’t find it listed on the site.  I didn’t know then, but I’ve since found an interior tag with the following info:  50% Viscose, 30% Nylon, 20% PBT. If I had to guess, I would have guessed clouds and unicorn wings.

And after lots of questions, here’s my official statement on laundring:  I have never and will never hand washed this sweater.  To be clear, I’ll never hand wash anything.  #aintnobodygottimeforthat  I wash and dry it like normal, I just don’t throw it in with towels or anything.  I’ll sometimes pop it in the dryer for 10 minutes or so, then gently tug on it to stretch it out a bit and then hang it to dry the rest of the way.  However, other times I’ll dry it the full time.

These cheetah mules are my newest Amazon purchase, and I’m totally in love.  They are classic and simple with a great pointy toe.  They are comfy too!  I ordered up 1/2 a size and they are fine, but I think I wish I had stuck with my regular size.

I love everything about this hooded sweatshirt including the color, the fit, and the price.  I’m wearing the “clay”, but I think it definitely leans towards like a dark coral.  But if you don’t like the clay, it comes in 14 colors!  For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

TARGET FINDS

Y’all.  I can’t believe it, but this button down utility shirt is AWESOME, and it’s just under $20!!!  You can wear it casually, or you can easily dress it up.  It’s definitely nice enough for the office, and it is effortlessly chic.

It would also be cute worn styled open over a cami or body suit.

I’m wearing a medium here, and I like how drapey it is.  A small would work if I wanted a less relaxed look, but I really love the fit of the medium.

This windowpane cardigan is thick, warm, and has a boyfriend fit.  In addition to this windowpane pattern, it also comes in 3 solids as well as a stripe.  You can also find it in plus size HERE!  It’s generously cut and runs big, so definitely size down if you want a more fitted look.  For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

NORDSTROM FINDS

Remember the balloon sleeve sweater? I first blogged about it in this post with the camo jacket that is on sale!

It’s a cotton blend with drop shoulders and a beautiful balloon sleeve.  It’s lightweight, very soft, and has a bit of stretch in it which makes it very comfy. It’s casual enough to wear with jeans and sneakers, but it could very easily be dressed up for the office as well.  I’m wearing a medium and there’s some extra room, so I would say it’s true to size or maybe even runs a bit big (even though the description says it runs small).  I love the fit, I love the sleeves, and I love this color.  It comes in 4 colors total, so you have options.

This blouson sleeve sweatshirt is a soft French terry with blouson sleeves and tiny pleats at the shoulders.  It’s an elevated sweatshirt and I think it’s so cute! It also comes in plus size.  For size reference, I’m wearing a small, but I think I would prefer a medium.
