Festive on the 4th!

Y’all, summer is here and July 4th is just around the corner!

And I don’t know about y’all, but I love looking FESTIVE!!!

Honestly, there’s not much I love more than a great red, white, and blue outfit.

Lucky for y’all, I’ve been shopping around! I’ve got several pieces I’m highlighting today that will help us all dress for the 4th. I’m going to start out with some NEW finds, and then I’m going to do a round-up of lots of red, white, and blue pieces that are still available!

This ruffle sleeve blouse is adorable. First of all, it’s a perfect red. It’s much more vibrant than in the pictures, and I love it.  The fluttery sleeves are feminine and flirty, and the lace inset and tiny ruffle on the collar are just plain cute. This eyelet sleeve top is a really pretty bright white, with fun ruffle and eyelet sleeves and an elastic square neck. The fit is generous and although I can wear it out, I prefer a half tuck. I’m wearing a small.

This USA tee is super soft and super cute. I’m wearing the blue, but it also comes in white, pink (which looks more like a heathered red), and army green. It’s a simple tee,  it’s under $15, and I absolutely love it.

This USA cropped tee features a ribbed neckline, dropped shoulders, raw hem, and a cropped silhouette. Now, I’ll say this, I have a non-existent torso. Because of this, although short on me, it’s not cropped. This is good news for me, because you’ll never see me in a cropped tee. If you’ve got a long torso, it will definitely be more cropped. This dress is super simple, super soft, and super fabulous. And at just $18, it’s a no brainer! I actually have it in the solid pink and the green stripe as well. This is the type of dress that I live in during the summer months. For size reference, I’m wearing a small.

This next outfit isn’t in your face festive, but if you make a couple of styling changes, you could easily up the festive factor with a USA inspired tote or earrings.

This button up blouse is wayyyyyy cuter in person than it appears online. It’s a crinkle gauze fabric, which makes it the perfect weight for summer. It’s light, airy, and totally breathable. It has flutter sleeves, a split and rounded hem, and a subtle metallic stripe. It also comes in a light blue, a navy, and a white. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

These denim shorts come in 5 wash options, but I went with the “light wash”.  They have a 4″ inseam, they sit lower on the waist, and they are loose through the hip and thigh with a relaxed fit. They have very little stretch, which I’m not used to, but I still really like these shorts! The structure actually feels nice, but I did size up to a 28 because of the lack of stretch. I did like the length of the petite better than the regular length, so I went with the 28P. They have that perfect worn in look, with a little bit of distressing and a raw and frayed hem. If you always wish for a little more leg room in your denim shorts, you’ll like the roominess of these!

Y’all. I love this outfit for any summer day, but how perfect would it be for the 4th?

This is a vibrant blue striped tee. It’s lightweight, super soft, and a great relaxed fit. I don’t like my tees tight, and this one isn’t at all. I haven’t washed mine yet, but lots of reviewers say it launders perfectly. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

These denim utility shorts are fitted at the waist and easy through the hip and thigh. The elastic waist obviously has a little bit of stretch, but they aren’t nearly as stretchy up top as you might think. They’ve got just enough give to slip over your hips. For size reference, I’m wearing the medium petite here. (FYI, I also ordered the regular smalls to compare the fit. The smalls were actually a little difficult to wiggle on, but they were comfortable once on. However, at 5’4″ I much preferred the length of the petites on me.)

I changed a couple of things up, but the above collage was definitely my inspiration! The red star earrings and bracelet stack are pretty much necessary for the 4th, and the navy eyelet top is summer perfection. It’s got eyelet, it’s got scallops, and it’s got summer vibes. The striped top is better than just a regular tee (and it better be, because it’s $49). It’s like a fine gauge knit, and it is incredibly soft. The fit is super relaxed, and I just love it on. For size reference, I’m wearing a small. If between sizes, I would suggest sizing down.

The little pocket and the oversized ruffle on the sleeve on this tee are speaking my language, and I’m totally DYING over the stars! It’s soft and just plain cute. This set is soooooo soft and sooooooooooo comfy! I’m wearing a medium, but both the top and the bottom are pretty roomy, so I think a small would be fine too.

I love a great set of kitchen towels. I think I’ve shared this before, but a new set of kitchen towels can inspire me to clean the entire house. FOR REAL. I clicked “add to cart” the second I saw these. The pattern, the colors, the ruffle, the vintage look. IT’S ALL SO GOOD. And yes, I cleaned the house. 🙂

Look at this FABULOUS maxi skirt! It feels very Anthro or Farm Rio, don’t ya think? I mean, I would expect to pay over $100 for a similar piece from one of those retailers, but this one is right at $30. What a deal! It’s lightweight, flowy, and oh so flattering. And I feel like it makes me look so tall!

This striped tulip sleeve top is mixed media with a super soft and stretchy body and sleeves that are light, airy, and flouncy! I love the shape of the double sleeves and the subtle stripe. The site suggested to size down, so I’m wearing a small. I did think the body was pretty fitted, so I think I might prefer the fit of the medium. It’s a perfect pairing with white jeans.

I have to say, this top doesn’t look like anything special in the picture below, but I actually really love it. It’s lightweight, gauzy, has a tiny little flutter on the sleeve, and a deep v-neck (that isn’t too deep). It comes in several other colors and patterns. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

This bubble sleeve tee is a bright white and it’s not see thru. It’s a great white tee that’s elevated with the softly pleated neckline and the subtle bubble sleeves. It’s very soft and comfy. You can see here I’ve styled it with turquoise jewelry, but just switch it out for red, white, and blue accessories and you’ll be ready for a backyard barbecue. I’m wearing the “midnight” (it comes in a black and white stripe too), and I love the nautical vibes of the vibrant blue and bright white stripes. With July 4th right around the corner, it would be perfect for a pool party or backyard barbecue.

It’s super soft and lightweight, and I happen to love the short fit. However, if you’re tall, this might not be the cover up for you. I’m 5’4″ (with long legs for my height, but no torso) and you can see that it’s quite short on me.  For size reference, I’m wearing a small. I would size up if you want a bit more length.

Now, if you’re too tall to wear it as a cover up, consider pairing it as a tunic with denim shorts or white jeans!

This navy dress is absolutely precious, and it’s just under $25. It also comes in a vintage bleach denim.

The square neckline with the eyelet flutter sleeves is adorable, and I love how the hem is scalloped eyelet as well. And it has pockets! It’s a little longer on my 5’4″ frame than I would like, but that’s good news for you taller ladies! It’s not lined, but it doesn’t appear to be see-through. It’s totally a dress, but it would also make a great swimsuit cover up that would take you from the pool to dinner! Again, I would suggest sizing down 2 full sizes.

The colors aren’t Americana, but the stars still make the set a bit festive. It’s very soft and has a cute fit. I grabbed it in a medium because I was sure I would need a medium in the top, but it’s actually quite generously sized, so I think I could have done a small.

You will definitely want to wear a nude bra under it because the tiny little holes do let the color of the bra peek through a bit. Ruby Woo is a red lipstick that I found probably 4 or 5 years ago now when I was looking for a bright red lip color before July 4th.

This particular red is supposed to look great on all types of skin tones and with all different hair colors. And it’s definitely a blue red, which is great, because I don’t love a red that leans orange.

The Ruby Woo on its own is a bit harsh for my liking, so I recommend a gloss on top. The gloss you see below is now sold out, so I would recommend this Rose Glow gloss in its place.

Since most people will be spending time in the sun on the 4th, I thought I would review a couple of awesome products.

The Unseen Sunscreen IS AMAZING (you can also find it on Amazon HERE). I used it for the very first time 2 summers ago, and I became an immediate fan. It’s weightless, invisible, scent free, and gives incredible coverage and protection for your face. My skin absorbs it very quickly (like IMMEDIATELY!) and there is NO TRACE of it. It’s not oily or greasy, it gives a matte finish, and it doesn’t leave any white residue behind either. I think it goes on like a primer! It’s velvety in texture and it totally just glides on your skin, both under and even over your makeup. Also, from reading reviews it seems it’s awesome for people with super sensitive skin. I’m telling you, the product is absolutely incredible.

I used to only use Supergoop Glow Screen as my “foundation” when I knew I was going to be in the sun for a prolonged period of time. You can also find it on Amazon HERE.

HOWEVER.

I’ve come to love the product so much that I’m now wearing it every single day that I apply make-up in the spring and summer. I love the color, the glow, and the level of coverage it gives! And please don’t let the “GLOW” in the name scare you. It’s very subtle and just really pretty! And the SPF is just a huge bonus. Sometimes I wear it on its own, and sometimes I combine it with 1 or 2 other products.

I sized up to a medium, but you will see in stories that a small would have been plenty big, so you can just stick to your regular size.
