Dressing in the Spring often times proves challenging for me. The weather is unpredictable, and I like to be both seasonally and weather appropriate when possible. The problem is, that becomes very difficult to accomplish when the forecast is sunny with a high of 80 one day, and 60 degrees and stupid windy the next. Like last week. Last week was stupid windy.
I find it helps to have some pieces you love in your closet that can easily transition between seasons and random weather days. Now, they aren’t going to help you on those one off days when it’s 40 in April (yep, we just had one of those!)…but they will help you on days that are a little unseasonably cool. Today I’m working with Nordstrom and will be highlighting a long sleeve top and a breathable pair of jeans that have served me well, and I know they would serve you well too! I’ve been reaching for these pieces again and again over the last several weeks, and today I’m going to show you 2 different ways I’ve styled them.
OUTFIT #1: Neutral tones w/ a straw tote and blush wedges
I think you’ll see that my 2 outfits today feel both seasonally and weather appropriate, even though I’m wearing jeans and a long sleeve top. The wash of the jeans keeps things light and summery, and the design of the top is easy and breezy and totally perfect for the Spring and Summer months.
embroidered top / k.s. white earrings / similar sunglasses (only $14)/ light wash jeans / star straw tote / blush low profile wedges
First up, let’s start with this DARLING embroidered top. Yes, it’s long sleeved, but that’s where the heaviness ends. The blue and white colors, the light and airy balloon sleeves, the tassels, and the embroidery all scream SUMMER! And notice the pretty little scalloped hem. For size reference, I’m wearing a small, which is true to size for me.

There’s absolutely no denying that this top is crazy cute. I first wore it with my favorite white jeans and my must have wedges at the blogging conference I attended a couple of weeks ago (click HERE to see the conference recap and all 6 of my outfits), but I knew it would be cute with regular ol’ blue jeans as well.
The other key piece in this outfit is this great pair of lightweight jeans. I got them a couple of weeks ago, and I’m straight up OBSESSED. I know it’s only May 7th…but I’m going to go ahead and officially declare these THE OFFICIAL JEANS OF SUMMER. You heard it hear first, y’all. Somebody alert the presses.
They are light weight, totally breathable, a perfect light wash, have a casual frayed hem, and they fit like a freaking dream (because they have the perfect amount of stretch in them). So what’s the PERFECT amount of stretch? Well, they are stretchy enough to hug your curves and suck you in, while allowing you to remain incredibly comfortable… but they aren’t so stretchy that you’ll find yourself pulling on them throughout the day. They’re like magic. I’m telling you, they fit like a glove. And if you don’t want to take just my word for it, click HERE and just read the other reviews.
I truly feel like a great pair of summer jeans is a necessity, because even when it’s 100 degrees outside, the A.C. is blasting wherever you go! I find that jeans are often what I’m grabbing to throw on since I hate being cold in grocery stores, restaurants, movie theaters, etc. I’m guessing lots of you feel the same way too.
For size reference, I sized down to a 2 Regular, and I’m almost 5’4″. They range in size from 00-18, and for you really petite gals, they come in petite too!
AND GIRLS. They do wonders for your booty. WONDERS. They absolutely nailed it with the placement and shape of the pockets. If you are already a lover of Wit and Wisdom jeans (I have been for several years now – it all started with this itty bitty bootcut pair), then I know it won’t take long for you to jump on my bandwagon for this pair. People who try this brand fall in love and are super loyal to it! One of my friend’s friends has 8 pairs! #imlookingatyouholly 😉
These shoes are another new addition to my wardrobe. I get requests every single day from y’all wanting me to recommend a low profile wedge. Well, I’ve ordered several, and I just haven’t loved any of them. Until these. Now, I will say they take a little bit of getting used to. These are the first wedges I’ve had that are true platforms, and when I first put them on, it was a weird sensation when I was walking because I felt like I was totally flat footed. Even though I absolutely loved the look, I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to get over the platform bottoms. Well, I got over it. Quickly. And now I love them. They were true to size for me.
And look how cute the frayed hem is on the jeans with these wedges. And look how darling the wedges are. #REALLYDARLING
I went with the blush, and the color is so light that it really functions like a neutral. A cognac color isn’t an option with these wedges, but there is a light grey/taupe that is a perfect spring and summer neutral as well. And they also come in some fun bright colors (mustard, navy, or red), for those of you that are a little more daring!
The star straw tote obviously keeps the outfit 100% seasonal. Isn’t it the cutest?
It’s a great size: big, but not overwhelming. And there is plenty of room to fit ALL THE THINGS.
I absolutely love the lining. It’s a precious striped fabric, and it not only lines the bag, it can also be cinched up to cover the contents found inside the tote. There’s 1 zippered pocked inside and 1 open pocket.
Kate Spade watch options / turquoise bracelet
This whole outfit makes me happy.
I just think all of it is good.

For my second outfit, I got away from the neutral accessories, and I went bold! I really like both looks, but I’m curious if y’all are going to have a favorite at the end of the post.
OUTFIT #2: Vibrant colors w/ a pom pom tote, orange earrings, and cognac wedges
Same core pieces, but a different look!
embroidered top / orange earrings / similar sunglasses / jeans / pom pom tote / must have wedges
The jeans and the top are both making another appearance.
But this time I went bold! I fell in love with the vibrant colors and the fun shape of this circle tote. It inspired me to go bright with my earrings as well.

And for those of you that prefer a little more height, I think that my MUST HAVE wedges paired perfectly with the rest of my accessories.
And I know I’ve told you this several times already, but these wedges really are incredibly comfortable. I don’t wear shoes that aren’t comfy because life’s too short (and my pain threshold is laughable), but I can wear these all over and for long periods of time without any trouble at all! I love them so much, I got them in black as well.
And again, look at the fun frayed hem on the jeans. Remember, I’ve officially declared these babies THE OFFICIAL JEANS OF SUMMER! At 5’4″, the regulars hit me right where I wanted them to on my ankle, but they do come in petite as well!
Oh, and don’t just focus on the pom poms on the tote, look at the handle! I mean, that’s a cute handle. The bag has a snap closure at the top, 1 zippered interior pocket, and 1 open interior pocket.
Yep, the fun colors and the comfy shoes will put a spring in your step!

So what’s your preference?
Neutral? Or Vibrant?
I hope y’all enjoyed seeing these 2 pieces styled in different ways. It’s easy to see with these two outfits how the accessories make all the difference in the overall look.
Speaking of accessories, here are some options for spring and summer bags. If you see a bag you like in the collage below, click on it and it will take you right to the source!

Don’t forget your sunnies! I love Nordstrom’s selection of super affordable sunglasses that are all $14.
And although I’m loving all of the items I highlighted in today’s post, if you get nothing else, go ahead and grab the jeans -they’re truly the best jeans for summer. A huge THANK YOU to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!
