OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS. TODAY IS THE DAY! If you are not a Nordstrom cardholder, I’m imagining it felt like a SWEET FOREVER waiting for this sale to go live. Well, NOW IS THE TIME LADIES! The sale is finally live for everybody, and I’m partnering up with Nordstrom to talk about PUBLIC ACCESS! Try to regulate your breathing and remain as calm as possible. This is a super long post, but make sure you read to the very bottom of the post because I’m giving details about the Score Report contest! The winner will get a $250 Nordstrom gift card, and you will get it in time to shop the sale! (Spoiler Alert: I changed it up this year, and instead of sending me e-mails, you are going to instagram pictures and use the hashtag #sheaffertoldmeto !)
Today I’m going to try to make shopping the sale as easy as possible, because it can definitely be overwhelming. I will start off by highlighting some great NEW items for everybody to check out! I will also show highlights from my previous posts of items that are still in stock. Today’s post is supposed to serve as a reference guide. If you don’t like a picture, just skip over it and head to the next item.
Let’s start off with the NEW items! Just think of me as your 2016 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Tour Guide. I can think of nobody better equipped for the job.
NEW ITEMS
Let’s go ahead and start out with THIS DRESS. It comes in 10 colors and is only $24.90! TWENTY FOUR DOLLARS. I’m wearing it here with my over the knee boots, but it would also be great with booties for early fall! And when it gets cold, you could easily pair it with your MUST HAVE leggings! Size References: The dress and booties are all both true to size, and I’m wearing a small in both. My boots are true to size as well.
striped dress / denim jacket / suede over the knee boots / earrings (brown mother of pearl – but they just look golden!)/ cross body bag

This next look gets me so excited for fall! I stumbled upon this peplum top online and took a chance on it. I LOVE IT. The little pleated peplum hem is so cute, and the neckline is also darling (see online pic to see it better). It’s gathered and pleated and just a really great look! It is a little sheer, so you will most likely want to wear a cami with it. The jeans are a really dark denim even though they look black in the pics. More on the jeans in a minute!
Size References: I’m wearing a medium in the top (I sized up, because it said a small was a 2-4, and I am NEVER a size 2 top.) I’m wearing a 27 in the jeans (which is true to size for me), but I think I want to try sizing down a size. They seem like they might stretch.

Look how cute the pleated peplum hem is on the top!
And to show you how short the crop skinny jeans are, I wanted you to see the jeans with my ankle booties! I’m almost 5’4″, and they are the perfect length for booties. And as you can see above, they are also great for stuffing in to tall boots! Now, they are definitely too short for me (at almost 5’4″) to wear with flats, but they really are just perfect for ankle booties. I thought you other shorties would for sure want to know about these…..now, if you are blessed with height, then these aren’t for you. In the shot below I have them rolled up the length of the tiny hem, but they also look great not turned up.

Okay, Girls. This next item is important. I got THESE jeans in petite and I ADORE THEM. I’m almost 5’4″, and the petites are the perfect ankle length for flats and booties….but they are also skinny and stretchy, so they are great to tuck into tall boots as well!!!! I never talked about them, because by the time they arrived they were sold out, and I didn’t want to rub my DARLING new grey jeans in your face. 😉 WELL, THEY RESTOCKED! I’m kicking myself that I don’t have a picture in them, BUT THEY ARE AWESOME. Click HERE for the jeans (they come in a really pretty deep red too). I got a 6petite (I typically size up in petites), but I didn’t need it. I’m thrilled they are restocked because I just ordered the 4P for myself. So, even if you get a petite, I’d stick with your regular size.
II found a couple of shots on my phone of outfits I tried on my first day of shopping that somehow hadn’t made it to a post yet. This is the 2016 version of the MUST HAVE shirt, and I got it in black again. I also ordered it in the deep purple and am hoping it won’t show wrinkles terribly. If you are worried about the wrinkles, then go with the black! For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the top (which is true to size for me)…but if you have a smaller chest, I would consider sizing down. I sized down in the jeans and am wearing a 26. I sized up in the jacket and am wearing a medium. I often do this in jackets!

Plaid is HUGE again this year, and there are lots of options in the sale. THIS one was my favorite! I sized up to a medium, which I do pretty regularly in button up shirts. And it’s hard to tell in the pic, but I love the dainty little necklace with the plaid.

If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile, you know that in January of 2015 I was introduced to Zella athletic gear. And now I’m obsessed. You can find all women’s Zella available in the sale HERE. I wear outfits like this all winter long when running around town and getting stuff done at the house. I love being comfy and cozy, but looking completely put together! Like I always do in Zella tops, I sized up to a medium. I’m wearing a small in the leggings. AND Y’ALL. You HAVE to pick up this 3 pack of socks! They are so soft, feel great on the foot (sounds weird, but I mean it), and the tab back is perfection.
Zella sweatshirt / Zella leggings / Zella socks / similar Nike shoes
I’m always on the hunt for a good pair of pajamas, but I do not enjoy sleeping in pants. For many years, I just slept in over-sized t-shirts, but over the last couple of years I’ve found some short nightgowns and some short sets that I love! Click HERE for this darling little sleep shirt (it comes in 3 additional patterns as well)! I normally wear a small in things like this; however, the sizing on this says a medium is a 4-6, so I went with a medium. It was perfect! You can see all available pj’s for women in the Anniversary Sale HERE! Maybe you like to sleep in pants. 😉
Now, listen up ladies! PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT! YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS NEXT ITEM. You know I rave about THIS bra, and I typically rave about THESE UNDIES. And for the record, when talking thongs (sorry, dad), I should still be the spokesperson for the Hanky Panky original rise thongs because I continue to love them. HOWEVER, on the advice of several different readers, I tried THESE from Natori. And OOOOOOHHHHHHHHEMMMMMMMMMMMMGEEEEEEEEE. I wear full coverage undies at night (no thongs during sleeping hours, y’all!), and I like these so much more than my Hanky Panky bikini briefs (which tend to bag in the hiney on me). Seriously, y’all. THESE ARE GOOD. A big ol’ high five to the readers that suggested I try them. Consider me a convert. I ordered 1 pair “just to see.”…and then I immediately ordered 3 more. And just for fun, let’s just pretend that that’s me in the graphic below. 😉
NOW IT’S TIME FOR A REVIEW OF OTHER FAVORITE ITEMS THA ARE STILL IN STOCK!
*****LET’S START WITH ITEMS PREVIOUSLY NAMED MUST HAVES*****
I mentioned this directly above, but this bra is everything, and all of you ladies agree with me. If you don’t have one, GET IT NOW. You’ll thank me, and your girls will thank me. It’s the best bra I’ve ever owned. It’s also the most expensive bra I’ve ever owned, but I have found out it’s SO WORTH the money. I named it a MUST HAVE last year, and I know soooo many of you are believers now too! If you doubt me, just check out the online reviews! The cups are perfectly rounded, it has just the right amount of lining, and the material is oh so comfy. And look how pretty the straps are! I know the price might be shocking to some of you, BUT TRUST ME. Just try it, and I promise that you will feel badly for mistreating your boobies all these years. ???? Click HERE for the bra!
Click HERE for the MUST HAVE leggings! I named them a MUST HAVE almost 3 years ago now, and I still believe they are! For size reference, I wear a small. I have the black and grey, and I seriously don’t know how I lived the last 28 years of my life (ahem) without them. Because I’m 29 (ahem). And if you don’t believe me that these leggings are a MUST HAVE, believe the 1,214 5 STAR REVIEWS. They aren’t see thru at all, they hold their shape, and the ultra wide waist band sucks you in (while still allowing you to breathe). If I had to choose one color, I would definitely choose the “graphite heather” (grey). I reach for them more often, and after several years of washing them, they still haven’t faded even one little bit! Oh, one more thing, at 5’4″ they are reallllllllllly long on me (several inches too long), which is good news for you tall girls! I only wear them with tall boots, so I just fold them up and it’s no problem. If you are not vertically blessed and want to wear them with flats, you’ll have to get them hemmed.
If you aren’t a cardholder, I know you’ve been holding your breath that these next items would still be available during Public Access! It’s quite simply the most cozy item you will EVER put on your body. I prefer the original blardigan for cozying up and lounging around the house. It’s quite a bit longer and really envelopes you! The baby blardigan is easier to wear out of the house. It’s quite a bit shorter (although it does cover your hiney!) AND IT HAS POCKETS. #enoughsaid
For size reference, I’m wearing an x-small/small in the baby blardigan. The right one looks black in the picture, but it’s actually a dark navy (“indigo”) and looks great with jeans in real life! Stonebridge doesn’t carry it, but it also comes in a really pretty creamy stone color!
baby blardigan (plus size found HERE) / jeans (size down 1 size) / shirt / abalone earrings /grey booties
And here’s the original blardigan. I’m wearing the small/medium. Just yesterday they added 3 new colors, including a really pretty light pink!!!! I’ve been getting questions about if my blardigans shed. And the answer is, they don’t! I have a blardigan, a baby blardigan, and my son has an original blardigan as well. And NONE of them shed even one tiny bit! My friends and family don’t seem to have the problem either. However, I have had some readers report a shedding problem. I have no idea why some appear to shed, while others don’t. I would say the great majority don’t shed!
THESE jeans. I named an almost identical pair of AG JEANS a SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MUST HAVE earlier this year, and if you’ve been considering them, you should totally get them at this price (and go to the post HERE to see additional pics of them)! They were true to size for me, I’m wearing a 27. They fit like a glove and might be the most favorite pair of jeans you’ve ever owned. Yeah, they’re that good. They are definitely an investment, but you will wear the snot out of them, and your butt will look fantastic while doing so.
Concerning the LUSH shirt, you will definitely have to wear a cami because it is VERY low cut. I’m wearing a small, so I think it’s true to size. This outfit shows how to mix black and brown together for a simple and classic look. I love how mixing the colors makes it interesting! And you cannot get any more sassy than these boots.
lush shirt /AG skinny jeans / short layering necklace / rae necklace / av earrings / Steve Madden over the knee boots / frye cross body bag
*****SHOES*****
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, THE SHOE DEPARTMENT wins the Anniversary Sale.
There are tons of flats to choose from in the sale, but these cognac babies with the studs on the heels totally caught my eye. They come in several colors, but you know I always love a cognac. For size reference, I’m sometimes a 6, sometimes a 6 1/2 (most often a 6 1/2). I got a 6. Online says they are true to size.
LOOK AT THESE! They wrap around the ankle (obviously), and they are animal print (obviously), and they are fabulous (obviously). The site says they run small and to order a 1/2 size up…but I found the opposite to be true and was going to recommend ordering a 1/2 size down. I think ordering true to size might be the safest bet! Find all solid color choices HERE (the solid colors are stocked better).
My over the knee suede boots are definitely one of my TOP 5 FAVORITE ITEMS from the sale.
I’m wearing a 6 1/2, so they were true to size for me! And yes, they are comfy! And yes, I got them for myself. I couldn’t say no with a price tag so low! Totally love the chunky heel.
olive green tunic (I’m wearing a small and it’s definitely long enough for leggings. It looks shorter in this pic because I’m rocking a 1/2 tuck. If just wearing it with jeans, size down 1 size in the top!) / similar jeans / $18 necklace / $12 earrings /over the knee boots
I got a pair of Frye boots at the Anniversary Sale 2 years ago, and I adore them. They are classic, very well made, and will stand the test of time (some readers tell me they’ve had theirs for 15+ years and still love them)! And I get tons of compliments on them each and every time I wear them, which is always fun. For size reference, I had difficulty getting my regular 6 1/2 on in this year’s Frye boots (pictured below). I couldn’t get my foot past the right angle of the heel, so I sized up 1/2 a size to the size 7. They went on VERY easily, but seemed a bit long (a little too much room after my toes) after I got them on. I did have several readers say that they stuck with their regular size and once they got them on they were so glad they did. Click HERE for the boots. I have on the slate because that was all they had in store (and the color was really pretty) , but I actually prefer the cognac. If I didn’t already have a pair for myself, I would be getting these. Frye is great about making a wide-calf version for most of their boots, and these boots have that option. THESE BOOTS ARE GORGEOUS. PERIOD. THE END.
I know a lot of you were disappointed when my Lucky booties sold out (although my fingers and toes are crossed for a re-stock). But good news! I have a great option for you if they weren’t! I ran in to a cute reader (Hi, Brenda!) that was trying on both of these at the same time. So I asked for a picture. I thought seeing them side by side might be helpful to some of you that we planning on buying the Lucky version (before they sold out). As you can, the VC booties are super cute as well and very comparable! I’ve had lots of questions about these booties, and the answer is NO!!!!! You don’t wear socks!!!! 🙂 Vince Camuto booties / Lucky booties
If looking for a heeled bootie, THIS one might be your guy! I left the store without them, but I ended up ordering them for myself after I got home! They are such a great price at $79.90! They were true to size for me and will go with everything. They come in several different colors as well. These are the booties that I will transition to after it becomes cold enough that I want to wear socks.
These GREY BOOTIES (they come in black also) were in several of the outfits from my first day shopping the sale. I got a pair of grey Ivanka Trump booties last year in the sale, and I loved wearing they grey all year! If you are in the market for grey this year, consider these. They are a fantastic price. They are a little hard to get on (since there isn’t a zipper), but I promise you that once you get them on they are extremely comfortable. I was wearing a 6, so I sized down a 1/2 size in these (although online instructions say they run small, so to order 1/2 a size up). So confusing! I think the best bet might be to order your regular size? Click HERE for these suede booties from BP. The studs are so unique, and I just love the contrasting heel.
*****NOW IT’S TIME FOR CLOTHES!*****
THESE tees, on sale right now for $17.90 (regularly $25). I wear a small in the tee, and I think it’s a nice and relaxed fit without being baggy. I already had the white one (and a Kelly green one too), and picked up the “grey ebony” and “purple bramble” for myself….and then ordered the “black-white julia stripe”. THESE TEES are great to wear on their own, but also AWESOME to layer under military jackets, leather jackets, blardigans, and baby blardigans!
THIS sweater is one of those wardrobe basics that I think people will reach for again and again. I liked the deep forest green, but the camel and the grey also look great to me! For size reference, I’m wearing a small, so I think it’s true to size. I’m also wearing the Frye bag I spotted in the catalog, and it is STUNNING in person. The leather is such a rich deep color and is gorgeous. Sadly, it was a bit smaller than I was anticipating, and I was looking for a cross body with more room. Still, I know it will be a perfect fit for many of you!
side slit sweater / vigoss jeans (Order a size down, I’m wearing a 26.) / rae necklace / av earrings / lucky booties (true to size for me)/ frye cross body bag
THESE jeans are very stretchy (super similar to the pajama jeans), so I would suggest sizing down 1 size. I’m wearing a 26 in these. They are definitely a favorite find! Click HERE for all of the Vigoss jeans found in the sale.
AND THE BAG. Y’all. THE BAG. It’s Rebecca Minkoff and it’s GORGEOUS. It’s deeply discounted, but still a little pricey. I might have accidentally bought it. And cuddled with it last night. ???? Click HERE for all Rebecca Minkoff available in the sale. The poncho is from Splendid, and it’s like buttah. It’s very over-sized, and I’m wearing an x-small/small…but that’s the way it’s meant to be. I actually felt very chic in it!
splendid poncho / vigoss jeans / rae necklace / av earrings / lucky booties / rebecca minkoff bag
This next outfit spoke to me. I really liked the look of the leather jacket paired with the romantic shirt! Like I often do, I sized up and am wearing a medium in the jacket. I’m wearing a small in the top, so I think it’s true to size. This is one of the outfits that I thought looked like Joanna Gaines on my Joanna Told Me To post!
leather jacket / floral top / vigoss jeans (Order a size down, I’m wearing a 26.) / rae necklace / av earrings / lucky booties (true to size for me)
That’s it for the items today ladies! Let’s all have a glass of wine and take a nap!!!! SHOPPING IS HARD! 😉 I actually had hoped to have some additional new items to show you today, but my delivery was delayed (ugh!), so I hope to have them to show by Monday!
I really hope this post was helpful to you. If there is something I talked about previously that you didn’t see in this post, just click HERE and scroll back through the posts.
So, here’s what I recommend. COMPLETE YOUR ORDER NOW before your sizes sell out (if the computers are slow because they are jammed with people, just give them a minute and it will sort itself out), and THEN come back to read the rest of the post.
It’s time to talk about THE SCORE REPORT CONTEST! If you are a long time reader, maybe you remember last year (and the year before) when we did the Score Report! Well, it was hugely popular, so I’m bringing it back, but I’m changing it up a bit this year. Instead of e-mailing me pictures (it was just wayyyyyy to overwhelming for me) you are going to instagram pictures of you actually in your anniversary sale items, and then tag it #sheaffertoldmeto. JUST SHOW ME WHAT YOU SCORED! All pictures will be entered into the contest, and some pictures will be highlighted on the blog! The winner will be randomly chosen by the Random Number Generator and will receive a $250 Nordstrom Gift Card!!!
Please send pics of you actually in the items! We don’t want to see a pic of a coat on a hanger, we want to see it ON YOU! The point is that we all want to see items on other people besides just me. And please feel free to post pics of your hubby and kids as well in their new items. Just don’t forget to use the hashtag #sheaffertoldmeto!
So, what are you waiting for ladies? SHOP! SHOP! SHOP! And then instagram your pics! Thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!
Erika Slaughter says
You look darling in everything!! That peplum shirt is adorable and I agree-SHOE DEPARTMENT wins hands down!!
Ani says
You’re the best! Thank you for reviewing items real people will actually wear that are affordable!! Thanks to your reviews I went in store, knew what I wanted and tried on a few things to confirm my size and placed my order this morning. One item I wanted to share was the Kut from Kloth Diana Skinny Pant. Thanks to your blog I got the KFK Reese jeans last year (and have worn them weekly since). The Diana fit well and was very flattering even for us girls that maybe wear crop jeans in place of skinny. I’m 5.5, 130lb and the size 6 was great in the Diana. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/kut-from-the-kloth-diana-ponte-knit-five-pocket-skinny-pants-petite-online-only/3755006?origin=category-personalizedsort&fashioncolor=BLACK

Can you tell me how you wash your blardigans? I have one that is several years old (the gray/black ombré) that is no longer nearly as soft as my newer striped one from last year’s sale…..I don’t know whether they changed the material or if I did something to it when I washed it?!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Laura! I wash and dry both of mine and my son’s, dry them for like 5-10 minutes, and then hang to dry the rest of the way. Sometimes I even dry them the whole way. Most people say they wash on delicate and hang to dry! Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Kimm says
I snagged that super cute striped dress in the navy and I’m so glad I got those lucky booties before they sold out. I was one of those who had a shedding blardigan. I returned it last year but did get the baby in the indigo!! Super excited to get it.
Rachel says
I ordered the must have shirt in purple and it’s gorgeous! Not sure about the wrinkles yet since it showed up wrinkled. I have a large chest and was able to size down (hallelujah!) but don’t plan on wearing it with leggings.
I also ordered a natori bra and am really excited to try it out.
Narci says
Super fun!! I love the peplum top on you!! Adorable!
Cara says
How long is the Score Report Contest open for? Thanks!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Cara! You will need to have entries up by August 1st!!!! Sorry I left that out! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Laura says
The Natori bra is FABULOUS. All I have bought so far is the bra and the DKNY boy brief panties. I would like to enter the contest but I am NOT posting a pic or even taking a pic of me wearing a bra and/or panties. No ma’am.
Jennifer Davis says
HI, thank you so much for all of your hard (fun) work. I couldn’t resist and purchased and applied for a credit card so I could buy things you told me to. #happyearlybirthdaytome
I did the Nordstrom pick up and ordered online. I won’t to be in the Score Report Contest, but I’m not sure if my items will be delivered on time. The expected delivery is Tuesday. Oops, I just saw in your comment the deadline is August 1st (never mind).
Heidi says
Sheaffer, you’re killing me! I got two pairs of the leggings (great deal!), two of the dresses, those animal print Ghillie shoes (they were able to order them in store for me from another store!), and the Natori bra! Eeek. Question though: do you feel the leggings really stretch out with wear and that you should size down as it says on the Nordstrom website? I’m usually a 4-6, so XS seems REALLY small to me?! Thanks!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Heidi! I didn’t size down. I like the small! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Heidi says
Thank you!!
Christina says
I feel funny saying this but excited about the panties! I had bad luck with the hanky panky brand falling apart even with hand washing in 1 week. I love my natori bra so I’ll try the panties! For nursing mama’s try the natori nursing bra. It’s expensive but my favorite and I’ve nursed 7 babies now so Ive had many bras in my nursing days!
Jenny Null says
Thank you for finding all the great deals at the sale….way to take one for the team!! I have several items being delivered today and one of them is the Zella Wilderness hoodie in pink which they are no longer showing. I hope I love it. I also got the Honeydew night shirt but I can’t remember what print. The baby blardigan in navy along with a couple pair of booties, some shirts, the Kendra Scott necklace and a couple of other items are headed my way also. I’m crossing my fingers that my hubby isn’t home when the UPS man delivers today!!
Whitney says
I just snagged the baby blardigan in gray and the must have Hue leggings in black (I already have two pairs of black and two pairs of gray…..but I wear them ALL THE TIME)!! So excited!! 🙂
Melissa D. says
I set my alarm for 1:55am to be sure I could get all of the items on my wish list. Most of them were suggested by you! Thanks for doing the footwork for me! 🙂
Susie Yates says
Hi Sheaffer! Just thank you! You’ve helped me start shopping again…I’m a 1st grade teacher (about to start my 32nd year!!) and I have 5 sons, 3 of which are in college…so, consequently finances are limited! Your comments have been so helpful in deciding which items to give a try…love your blog, especially your recap on The Bachelorette!
Can you recommend boot or bootie brands/types that are the queens of comfort for me to teach in and wear all day? I tried to get the Lucky ones…
Sheaffer says
Hi, Susie! Thank you so much for the sweet words! As far as booties, I would try the Vince Camuto booties! They were comfy too and they have a nice low heel! Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Susie Yates says
Thanks so much, Sheaffer! I went ahead and ordered the Vince Camuto’s in gray and am hoping for the best! I’M SO EXCITED!!!
Jessica says
Finally caved and invested in the baby blardigan in indigo, got a pair of zella leggings and the caslon jeans….thanks for all the tips!
