Now let’s get to the post!
When dressing for the holiday season, there are a handful of events that most all of us have to think about/attend. Different types of events means we need to have both casual and dressy pieces to fulfill our outfit needs! We need outfits for running around town, going to church, attending holiday parties, and just hanging out at home. That’s a lot of different outfits y’all! So, over the next week or so, I’m going to be addressing all of those areas.
I’m working with Nordstrom and Shopstyle, and they’ve got you covered this season for all types of holiday outings! Today I’m focusing on the outfits that I need most frequently, outfits that work perfectly for running around town during this busy holiday season. We are all doing errands, Christmas shopping, grabbing lunch with friends, taking advantage of casual Friday’s at work, and attending kid’s Christmas parties. And if you’re like me, you want to look cute and put together while doing ALL THE THINGS! I mean, when I’m running around in my everyday life, I always want to look cute and put together. But during the holiday season, I also want to feel festive! I want to feel extra cute. Ha! Do y’all feel the same way?
Basically, I want to look EFFORTLESSLY DARLING. And I’ve found some pieces to share with y’all today that help me in my quest towards my EFFORTLESSLY DARLING goal. I mean, isn’t that how we all want to look all the time?!?
OUTFIT #1: COLORFUL SWEATER AND HUNTER BOOTS
First up, this sweater. It’s colorful, bright, and happy! And let’s not forget warm and cozy too. It’s quite a bit more than I would normally spend on a sweater, but I fell in love with it. And since I knew I would wear it for years to come, I just went for it.

I MEAN. This is a cute sweater, y’all. And regarding my quest, I must say that I do feel extra cute when I put it on. The bright colors and design just make me happy! (If you have a little girl, click HERE for a coordinating striped sweater!)

For size reference, I sized up to a medium (which I often do for sweaters). I don’t enjoy a tight sweater at all, and much prefer a really relaxed fit. If you don’t feel the same, I’m thinking your regular size would do just fine.
All you would have to do to feel put together with this sweater would be to throw on a pair of jeans with booties or even sneakers. But I decided to make the outfit even more festive. I added bright red Hunter boots. #BAM
Here’s how I feel about my Hunter boots. If there’s a 20% chance of rain at any point during the day, I’m 100% fine with bustin’ these bad boys out.
I asked for these boots for Christmas from my mother-in-law 5 or 6 years ago. I already had a pair of light grey ones at the time, and I wore them constantly, but the brightly colored boots always caught my eye. I wasn’t sure how much I would wear the red though, so I hesitated pulling the trigger myself. #BLESSMYHEART
I now keep the light grey ones at the ranch, and I wear my red ones all the time. And if it’s a cold day, I love adding the cable socks.
Click HERE for all colors of Hunter boots available, with some that are on sale! Click HERE for Joules rain boots, which are great if you want fun patterns!

My earrings are on repeat and come in rose gold and silver as well. My sunglasses are the “tort/brown” colorway, but they keep going in and out of stock. They used to come in black too, but they are currently available only in “orange tort/brown”.

And if you want to look extra festive around Christmas, I’ve got a tip for you. All you have to do is carry around a wreath! It’s just that easy.
Just kidding about the wreath.
You could opt for a leopard bag instead. It’s not as festive, but it will do in a pinch. Hahaha! There’s only 34 available right now, so scoop it up if you love it!
The bag is on the smaller side than what I normally gravitate towards, but I loved the pattern and shape. If you prefer a larger bag, there is this one from the same maker. There is also this reversible tote that looks awesome!
Leopard makes everything a bit more festive! If you don’t want a leopard bag, check out these pointy toe flats or these chunky heeled booties.
You can find my lipstick HERE ON SALE (it’s called “fashion icon”), but I’m not sure what gloss I was wearing in this picture. I wear the same lipstick 98% of the time, and just switch up the gloss!

OUTFIT #2: LAYERED PLAID SHIRT and CAMO
Outfit #1 was holiday ready because of bright colors and red Hunter boots, but I went in a different direction with outfit #2.
I chose softer and more muted colors for this outfit, yet I was able to make it special with pattern mixing! Plaid with camo? Why not!
And layers always make everything cuter. It’s just a known fact.
plaid button up / fleecy v neck / wine colored cross body bag / gold earrings / ankle jeans / camo wedge sneakers
Just look how happy and festive I am.
plaid button up / fleecy v neck / wine colored cross body bag / gold earrings / ankle jeans / camo wedge sneakers
J Crew is known for their button up plaid shirts, and I already have one that I love that is red and green in a crisp cotton. But when I saw this light flannel one with the soft pink tones, I was smitten. It will of course be great worn on it’s own, but I couldn’t resist layering it. I love the plaid peeking out up top and on bottom, and I of course had to turn the cuffs up too.
The v neck is also cute worn on it’s own (click HERE to see it by itself), but it’s the perfect weight and shape to be used as a top layer.
The fleece fabric is unbelievably soft, and the v neck is feminine and flattering. It’s lightweight, really cozy, and just plain cute. I’m wearing my regular size small, but I think you could size down in this one and be fine, especially if you aren’t planning on layering it. I grabbed this soft blush, but it comes in 5 other colors. It’s so soft and cozy that I love wearing it with my favorite joggers too.
There’s not much that’s cuter than a little plaid cuff.
I’m still wearing my new Sam Edelman ankle jeans, and I rarely take them off these days. They are the PERFECT length for my 5’4″ frame when wearing flats, booties, sneakers, and loafers! And the frayed hem and the little side slits add some great style!
I added camo into this outfit with these camo wedge sneakers! I adore the camo and love the spunk it adds to outfits, but the wedge sneaker does come in 13 other colorways if camo isn’t your jam. They are comfy, and although I sized down a 1/2, the majority of reviewers seem to think they are true to size.
I know this picture might prompt questions about my rings, because I get asked frequently about my right hand rings when they appear in pictures. They are Bony Levy rings, which is a luxury brand carried at Nordstrom. They are real diamonds, so they are expensive, but you can catch them anywhere from 40-60% OFF! I snagged both of mine for 60% OFF! If you do see one that you want on sale, you need to scoop up the ring immediately. When they go on sale, it’s typically because they seem to just have a handful left and are trying to clear out inventory.
If you like the idea of stacking rings, but you would like a more economical option, I’ve found some great ones! Check out this gorgeous set that just debuted from Gorjana (I love the silver the most)! And this colorful set from Kendra Scott is so fun!
Now, let’s talk about the bag. It’s suede, it’s a gorgeous wine color (even though they call it “rust”), and it’s a great price point at right under $70.
I told you above that I wear one lipstick almost every day (in “fashion icon”). But when I want to be festive, I’ll wear this lipstick, (in “ruby woo”) which is the perfect red for me. It’s a nice blue/red, and it’s supposed to look great on a variety of different skin tones. I’m also wearing this gloss (in “naked plum”). I’ve really enjoyed wearing a bright red lip on occasion, and this one doesn’t lean orange at all, which has always been my problem with other reds I’ve tried. Both the lipstick and the gloss are ON SALE! In fact, there’s a pretty big make up sale happening now! It’s a great time to pick up some of your favorites or try some new products you’ve had your eye on!
And since I purchased the sweet little bezel necklace back in September, I’ve rarely taken it off.

So what do you think? Wouldn’t you feel EXTRA cute running around in either one of these outfits?!?
At the beginning of the post, I mentioned other events you might be attending this season….like church, holiday parties, or just hanging at home. I mean, we want to be cute for everything, right? As I said earlier, I’ll be addressing those other events in the near future, but I do have some suggestions today for those of you that don’t want to wait!
Here are some dresses that would work for a holiday party. You can scroll right to see more.
I personally prefer pants, so I’ve ordered this top in bright pink lace with the hope of showing it to you with black ankle pants and heels! I also ordered this tiered and pleated lace top, thinking it will look great with my favorite black coated skinny jeans or even just regular denim and these mesh dot heels. And you of course know that I highly recommend the tops in this post. More outfits to come, but I hope today got your wheels turning.
Thank you to Nordstrom and Shopstyle for sponsoring this post and helping us look effortlessly darling! And don’t forget that Nordstrom makes the holidays a little less chaotic with helpful services like curbside pickup and free alterations. I’m telling you, with their free shipping and returns and their top notch customer service, you absolutely cannot go wrong.

Hi sheaffer, love that pink sweater it looks like the perfect shade of pink! Does it look that pink in person? Looks a bit too pale on the website. Love all the outfits! Thanks
Sheaffer says
Lighting changes colors of thing so much. I would say it’s a light blush, but the plaid maybe brought out the pink? Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
