Today is Part II of SUMMER DRESSES. I received such great feedback after Part 1, I thought we’d just keep going!
From your messages, it seems like THIS dress was the most popular. I got lots of e-mails from you ladies (of all different sizes) saying how much you loved the dress. Most of you bought them for weddings, and nobody could believe it it was UNDER $55! Several of you also got this one in white. It’s under $50 and the quality is amazing. I had a couple of messages from young ladies getting married saying that you bought it for bridal showers. Great idea!
The knit shift dress I highlighted is also now available in a new striped olive option! It’s great with flat sandals and even Converse.
You can find Part 1 HERE to see all of the dresses I originally highlighted.
Like I mentioned in Part I, I receive requests all year long to highlight dresses, but I receive these requests even more frequently in the Spring and Summer. Y’all want dresses for running around town, for church, for weddings, for showers, for graduations, for date nights, for vacation, etc. You want them for everything. You also want to know how to style them. And you want them to be affordable.
For Summer Dresses Part II today, nothing is over $150, and some of the dresses are closer to $50. Let’s get started!
This beauty is only $69 and comes in this hot pink, a darling black and white gingham, and a pretty little soft ticking stripe. It’s the perfect summer dress, flatters all body types, and the details make it so special. The tie at the waist, the sweet ruffle sleeves, and the racer back just take this dress to another level. The material is a great stretch cotton, which will keep you cool on hot days.
This dress is so easy to dress up or down. You could wear it with flat sandals (I’ve seen so many bloggers pairing it with their favorite Miller sandals), wedges (this is how I’ll be wearing it most often), or even with heels!
The Petite Medium was the best fit for me. As always, with items that button up, I sized up from a small to a medium. And because I prefer a shorter length to knee length, I went with the petite (I’m almost 5’4″).

Do you remember the navy off the shoulder dress with the graphic floral design in Part 1? Well, I loved the shape and fit of the dress, so I wanted to try this one too from the same maker. It’s official, I love Parker dresses. This should come as no surprise because they are so well made (the price point is quite a bit higher than I typically pay, between $200-$400 at regular price), but both were on sale which lowered them both down to my price range. Now, I need to decide if I want to keep the navy one or this one. I love both, so I just need to figure out which one I would get more use out of!
For size reference, I’m wearing a small in this dress.

I didn’t keep this dress for myself, but I couldn’t resist trying it on when I popped into Anthropologie one day. The embroidery is absolutely gorgeous, and I loved the cut of the neckline. I’m wearing a small.
You need to click over to see the back. Also, as evidenced by the model wearing it, it’s meant to be quite a big shorter. So, although I actually liked this link on me, if you are 5’4″ or under you should consider buying the petite if you prefer the length on the model.

So, it appears that I’m going to be ALL SET in the dress department for the next several years. I wasn’t planning on keeping this one, I was just ordering it to highlight for y’all, but now I just don’t think I’m going to be able to take it back.
I ordered this particular dress for three reasons: 1) I get lots of requests for dresses with a sleeve (and although this one is cold shoulder, it does have a sleeve)… 2) It comes in petites, which lots of you need, and… 3) It comes in plus size, and I love to highlight plus size options when possible.
The orange embroidery stands out beautifully against the blue and white stripe, and I love the orange trim detail on the sleeve as well. For size reference, I’m wearing a 4 Petite (I’m almost 5’4″).
And this bag has turned out to be one of my most loved purchases this season.

It seems as if I’m clearly a fan of the off the shoulder shift dress these days. I feel like the shift shape is universally flattering, and the off the shoulder styling makes it so fresh and summery. The fringe detailing on this one makes it extra fun and flirty! For size reference, I’m wearing a small.
The bag is a cross body, but the strap can be tucked inside if you would like to carry it as a clutch! The reviews aren’t great on this bag, but I love it for what it is. It looks like I bought it on a Mexican vacation.

This crepe dress comes in 9 colors, it’s ONLY $46, and it has tons of 5 star reviews. I only have black, and it’s not see thru, but I imagine some of the lighter colors might be sheer and would require a slip.
This is another dress that would be very easy to dress up or down. It would look great with flat sandals, I’m wearing wedges with it here, but I know tons of you dress this baby up with heels!

After seeing this full length picture, I really wish I would have just worn my brown MUST HAVE wedges. They wouldn’t have looked so heavy on my feet, and they would have helped tie in the wooden ring on the clutch!

This next dress is one that I absolutely ADORE. I wish it fit so badly!!!!!
Sadly, the small is way too tight in the chest. I’m going to order a medium just to try it, but I’m afraid it will be too baggy everywhere else. However, I like it so much that it’s worth a shot. I’m still showing y’all, even thought it’s embarrassingly tight across the chest, because I know so many of you will be absolutely DARLING in this dress.
It is lined (yay!), and the split straps that weave through the grommets at the shoulders are such a nice detail! I love the color combination, and you know I’m always drawn to embroidery.

This dress is crazy comfortable, and the soft floral design is so pretty. I’m wearing a small, but I feel like my body shape wasn’t quite right for this dress. I wanted to love it, but I’m thinking it will be more flattering on somebody with a smaller chest. The site describes it as seersucker, but although it kind of looks like seersucker, it’s more of a jersey knit. It doesn’t zip or anything, so you just pull it over your hips or slip it over your head. It seriously feels like a night shirt.

I absolutely adore this dress. It’s a summer classic with the blue and white stripes, the eyelet detail, and the rope tie at the neckline. And look at the scallops on the sleeves and the hem! Sadly, the small is just too tight across the chest again. However, I knew that this dress would work beautifully on lots of you, which is why I’m still showing it!
It’s 100% cotton and fully lined.

Hi!
What size did you try in the vineyard vines dress?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Rachel! Sorry I forgot to mention that! I was wearing a small! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Rachel says
I think you did mention it was a size small but on the Nordstrom site they have it sized by number. I just didn’t know if a small was a size 4? A size 6? Just FYI, it’s on sale now! 🙂 I am going to try it and hope it works because it’s SO cute! Thank you for showing us all of these options!
Sheaffer says
Oh, duh! I was wearing a 4 Petite. xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
