Today’s post is all about answering reader e-mails! I answer all e-mails sent to me (although not always in a timely manner). I’m sorry about that ladies, but I’m working on it. Sometimes I answer them same day, but other times my inbox gets out of hand, and then it just takes me awhile to work my way out of it! I promise, if you’ve sent me an e-mail recently, I will get to it! #slowlybutsurely
Today I’m just going to highlight a handful of those e-mails I’ve received over the last month. And if this goes well and y’all are interested, I’m thinking about making this a regular series. I feel like that if one person took the time to e-mail the question, there are most likely others that have the exact same question. Let’s get started!

Sheaffer – I love ponchos, but I can never find one that I think looks good on me. I see them on other people and I think they look great, but when I put one on I feel frumpy and sloppy. Can you find us a great poncho? Rachel
Rachel, I totally agree with you! I’ve tried on a ton of ponchos over the years, but I don’t think I’ve ever even shown one on the blog because I don’t feel like any of them are flattering on me. At first I thought they just weren’t going to work for me because I needed to be taller. But then I started seeing people that weren’t tall, and they were ROCKING ponchos. I decided I would try a couple more. I found THIS one, and I was like YESSSSSSSS!!!! In this shot I layered it over a black tee, but I think I will like it even more layered over a white long sleeve tee. It will look (and be) so cozy! For size reference, I’m wearing a small in the poncho and a 27P in the jeans (because I wanted them a perfect ankle length). Petite are almost sold out in the jeans, but these could easily be hemmed to the desired length. Just FYI, I’m wearing them more than my regular jeans right now.
poncho / grey skinny ankle jeans / plus size jeans / booties / watch / bracelet
And here’s the back. When it gets cooler, I will definitely be wearing a long sleeve tee under it. I love the way it looks on the model.

And this one isn’t called a poncho…but it’s poncho-like. Poncho-ish if you will. And it’s buffalo check. So, yeah. Click HERE for this cape. And click HERE for a similar option in more neutral tones.

e-mail text #2:
My friend Nikki texted the other day and said “Have you heard of Moto leggings?“. I answered with “Yes”. She said “Do you like them?” and I said “I don’t have any of them, but I do like them.” And then I hopped on the computer within 2 minutes of hanging up the phone and ordered THESE. I felt like I had no choice. I mean, it was my responsibility as a friend and blogger to be able to have a more definite opinion on moto leggings, right? 😉 I ordered the burgundy, but this exact pair also comes in black and olive.
I thought the easiest way to style them would be to pair them with my must have tunic. You can’t tell in the picture, but because of the design going on right at the knees (you can see it better on the site), I just don’t think tall boots would look right with these. So, I wore booties! I’ve never worn booties with leggings before, but I totally dug it. For size reference, I’m wearing a small in both the tunic and leggings. I think they are both true to size. (If you are only planning on wearing the tunic with jeans, then you can size down.)
Narci gave me the necklace after I hosted an online trunk show for her a couple of weeks ago! AND Y’ALL. It’s sooooo good. Tip: click HERE, type “Genevieve” in the search bar, and scroll to the bottom of the page so you can see that you can actually wear the necklace 3 different ways!
moto leggings / MUST HAVE shirt / $12 earrings / long cami / necklace (type in Genevieve Tassel Necklace) / similar booties ON SALE
I wanted to highlight this cami for you. I still love the $12 camis, but this cami is MUCH longer, which I sometimes feel like I need. I’m holding the tunic up here so you can see just how long the cami is.

e-mail and facebook comments #3-#762:
So maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but after I posted about THESE earrings on social media over the weekend, I got TONS and TONS of questions on them. Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions: 1) The post is in the middle of the earring. 2) They are 1/2 inch squares. 3) They are not heavy on my ears. 4) YES! They are very sparkly and pretty in person and I would be proud to give them as a gift! 5) The glitter ones look SUPER similar to the Kate Spade glitter studs.
I also got several questions on if they would work for ladies with sensitive ears. Luckily, I did have several readers with sensitive ears say they do! They recommended to paint the back and the posts with clear nail polish! Great tip, ladies! Click HERE for the earrings. And look how cute the little cards are that they come on. The gold chevron on the bottom makes them look so festive (and perfect for gift giving)!
I also had some people comment that they only liked the color of one of the earrings of the pair. If that’s the case, you can easily switch the earrings in and out and give the others as gifts! For example, if you want the multi glitter studs and the pink studs for yourself, you could put the gold studs on a card with the clear studs and gift them!
The biggest request was for me to show myself wearing the earrings, so I posted the following picture. I’m wearing the silver glitter, and I love them!

And in order to give y’all more reference for the size, please refer to the picture below. The studs on the left are the Kate Spade mini studs (and there are new colors of the mini glitter studs this year!) …the studs in the middle are the new BP glitter studs, and the studs on the right are the large Kate Spade glitter studs. The big studs are almost the exact same size. The BP glitter studs are accented with silver metal, the Kate Spade version are accented with gold metal.

e-mail #4:
Hi, Sheaffer. My family is taking our Christmas card pictures in a couple of weekends, and I’m having such trouble putting outfits together. It’s my husband and I with our 2 boys that are 3 and 7 years old. What do I do? Where do I start? We take family pics every year, but I’ve never been happy with outfits. Help, please! Cindy in Missouri
Hi, Cindy! I’ve put together a list of 5 easy tips for photo outfit planning: 1) Don’t try to match outfits, just coordinate them. You want to look like you “go together”, but you don’t want to all be dressed the same. (Think all denim jackets in the 80s! You know you probably have an old Christmas card like that!) For example: Some can wear jeans, maybe a dress or skirt on one, and maybe khakis or colored pants on another! 2) Pick 2-3 main colors, and then include other complimentary pops of colors here and there. 3) A mix of patterns and solids looks the best. Too many patterns will leave your head spinning, but too many solids will be boring. 4) Think LAYERS! Boys can accomplish this with a sweater over a collared shirt, a jacket or puffer vest over a collared shirt or tee shirt, or maybe a tee under a button up. Girls can accomplish this in many different ways: jackets, necklaces, scarves, hair accessories, etc. I know a ton of readers have worn THIS top in their family pics and layer it with either a fun scarf, a great necklace, or a denim or military jacket. 5) When you think you’ve got it, lay all the outfits together and see if it all works!
This is what Carter is going to be wearing for his 8 year old pictures this week! He’ll be wearing the sweater over the button up with the collar and sleeves peeking through.
button up tartan shirt / stripe sweater / jeans / sperry choices / belt several years old

Are UGG boots and Hunter boots really worth it? I want them, but they are so expensive, and I just cannot allow myself to make the leap. Thanks in advance, Caroline
Hi, Caroline! My short answer is “YES!”. 🙂 My post on Wednesday is actually dedicated to UGGs, so stay tuned for that. Concerning the Hunter boots, I absolutely ADORE mine (this vibrant Peppercorn color is currently on sale!). However, there are other rain boot brands that aren’t quite as expensive. I wouldn’t go super cheap with a rain boot because you will find that they just won’t hold up well. They will end up splitting and cracking and many of them are too thin. If you want to go middle of the line for rain boots, Joules has lots of great options and they come in a ton of different unique and darling prints! There are even some that are currently on sale!

And then just because, here are some NEW TO SALE items I posted over the weekend! Info from a reader (thanks Melissa!) about the Bobeau brand (the maker of the cowl neck in the collage): I have some Bobeau cardigans and even though Nordstrom says it’s true to size they run big! I’m normally a large but always get a medium in Bobeau! I just ordered the cowl neck shirt in a medium! Hope this helps!! Anything of that brand is SO comfy!! – Melissa
bobeau tunic (comes in 2 other colors!)/ skinny stretch jeans / glitter studs / bag / fringe booties
See y’all back here on Wednesday with a favorite super comfy top..and 3 different crazy comfy pairs of shoes. 🙂

I love a Q&A!! That buffalo poncho has my name all over it!
Narci says
So much to comment on! First, I love that necklace on you! Second, Carter’s outfit is PRECIOUS!!!!! Third, those earrings are amazing! What a deal!!
Brittany Boeling says
My earrings arrived on Friday afternoon and I love them so much! I immediately ordered several more for gifts! And now I think I’m going to have to get those leggings.
Megan says
Love love love that cream poncho! I had a whole conversation about the bp vs Kate spade glitter studs this weekend (I love find out other friends read your blog).
Great family photo tips. I have a post scheduled on that topic this week as well. Happy Monday!
Christina says
Keep doing these post! I have to tell you I cut my blanket scarf last night and was ready to breath in a paper bag but soooo happy I did it. I’m finally able to wear it!
Elizabeth Blaine says
YES on the Lush roll-tab tunic for Christmas card photos! I love the Q&A format, I’d say it’s a keeper for sure!
Kim Kauffman says
That necklace looks so good on you. Love it with that outfit!!
Michelle says
I loved the Q&A’s! I can’t believe how close the Kate Spade studs look to the ones on sale! I am planning to get the bp silver set too.
Erin says
You nailed it with this post, Sheaffer! The poncho is perfection. YES, Hunter rain boots are worth the money!! And I’ve GOT to try that super long cami. Necessary.
Natalie Buie says
Do you have to wear a cami with the “Must Have” top? Is it sheer?
Sheaffer says
Hi, Natalie! I’m wearing one in the pic with the moto leggings…but not because of the sheerness. Some people have to wear them because of the deep v neck (depending on where it hits them). I do think the white or cream would require a cami, but not the darker colors. Hope this helps! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
cassie {hi sugarplum} says
That poncho is insanely cute!! and i totally agree…UGGs and Hunters are absolutely worth it! I held out for years thinking ‘surely not.’ But wowza was I wrong!! I LOVE mine!
Kellee says
I have a comment to Email #5….UGG boots are worth every PENNY! I have two pair of UGG boots 🙂 Thanks, Sheaffer!
Allison says
I bought the moto leggings that you recommended. They were very thin and kind of cheap. They started falling apart around the third wearing. I absolutely would not recommend them.
Sheaffer says
Hi, Allison! Oh no! I haven’t even washed mine yet, so I can’t really comment on longevity. However, several people on facebook have commented that they have them and love them. I hope you just got a bad pair and that not all are bad! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
Melissa D. says
A good Q&A is always a winner in my book! I vote, do it again!
Mary says
Sadly, the cream poncho is already completely out of stock.
Amanda Thompson says
Ok, got another question for you =)
What is your favorite pair of jeans WITHOUT the holes in the knees?? I see AG makes one called “The Farrah” but I was curiousif you think they are comparable, or if you’d recommend something else! Thanks!!
Sheaffer says
Hi, Amanda! I’ve never tried the Farrah, but I personally probably wouldn’t want the “high rise”. I would probably try these: http://rstyle.me/n/b5qhsdpvje Let me know what you think! xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂
