It’s Friday, so y’all know what that means! It’s time to link up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci and let everybody know what some of my favorite things are right now!
FAVORITE #1: THIS PICTURE
So I posted this on instagram sometime last year, but I don’t think it ever made it to the blog. My mom sent a screen shot of my pre-k class pic to me one night and said that she and my dad were laughing hysterically. I mean, I’ll give you one guess which one is me.
And I’m thinking that red pants were apparently a MUST HAVE item back in the 80s. #iwasontrend
FAVORITE #2: THE LITTLE GUY, BODEN, AND NATIVES
Last weekend we were on our way to the grocery store and decided to have a quick little stop at the park. We only stayed about 30 minutes or so, but we had the best time.
We were the only ones there, so he was all about me taking pics. He also asked me to take several videos of him climbing a rock wall, hanging from the bars, and jumping all over the place. He ended each video with a huge thumbs up while simultaneously declaring “NAILED IT”. #yeahyadid And no surprise here, Carter was wearing some cozy clothes. I’m telling you, if I try to put him in pants with a button, there’s a serious conversation surrounding it. Captain Cozy’s personal comfort is his TOP priority! 😉
He insisted on showing me his “epic karate moves”. That’s a direct quote, by the way. And just to be clear, he has never taken karate. 😉
shirt / shorts / shoes / hat several years old
And fyi, if you have kids and aren’t familiar with Natives (the shoes Carter is wearing), you really MUST try them! I’m telling you, they are a MUST HAVE for young kids. They have baby sizes starting at 4m and go all the way up to big kid sizes 13m, 1m, 2m, and 3m (and everything in between). They come in A TON of colors and have FANTASTIC (near perfect) reviews. They even have sparkly iridescent ones for girls, tie-dyed options, and softer ones that look more like TOMS. They are true to size and easy for kids to take on and off by themselves. If they get dirty, just wash them off in the sink, and they dry quickly. And as a mom, you will love them just as much as your kids love them.
And in case you are wondering, that’s a “torch and a sword”. I mean, look at that face. About 5 seconds after I took this picture some kids rode by on their bikes, and he dropped the torch and sword and acted like he was just taking a casual stroll and admiring the surrounding nature. As soon as they were out of sight, he picked his props back up again and started “fighting the zombies” again. It was hilarious.
We had fun sliding, swinging, hanging, “rock climbing”, walking on the balance beams, and I even managed to sneak in a little hand holding. #momscore I know these days are fleeting, and I’m going to make an effort to slow down and have more of these impromptu play dates.

Oh….and just for fun…here’s Carter last year in his Natives. We’ve been fans for awhile. And if you notice, he’s head to toe in Boden as well. What can I say, the kid knows what he likes. 😉
this year’s reversible hoodie/boden jeans / aplique tee options / this year’s striped shorts / natives
Thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring the kid’s clothes portion of this post!
FAVORITE #3: SUPER AFFORDABLE ACCESSORIES
While at Nordstrom last week, I took some time to check out the accessories in the junior’s department. I often times find AWESOME deals there like THIS $18 necklace (that looks just like the Stella and Dot rebel pendant that is $79)! Well, on this day I found several great deals!
I’m wearing flare jeans (now sold out, but a great option HERE) and THESE wedges (order 1/2 a size up). If you want to know about the shirt, I’m going to post it on facebook by 7:00 this morning, so hop over to my facebook page to check it out!
abalone elle earrings / taupe and pale pink tote – This tote is reversible. Some readers have been telling me about this tote for awhile, and I finally changed it out! One side is a nice neutral taupe…and the side you are seeing pictured is a very pretty pale pink. It’s only $48, and it has 482 5 STAR REVIEWS!
This is the same tote as the one above, just in a different color combination! I love this one too! blue and stone tote
And if you are interested in something smaller, check out this crossbody (comes in 2 color combinations)!
And this coin bracelet is great too!
watch (25% OFF right now!) / coin bracelet (brass is sold out, but silver is still available! – Check out TONS of other super affordable bracelets (with several on sale) HERE.
FAVORITE #4: DENIM CUT-OFFS
I showed you a pair of rolled cut offs from Old Navy a couple of weeks ago, but I got some comments that some of you that tried them thought they were too slouchy! Well, I know some of you like them slouchy, but if you don’t, then THESE might be what you are looking for! Heads up: if you don’t like short, then you should probably pass on these. 😉 I liked the fit and the ragged hem of these.
denim shorts (True to size, I’m wearing a 27.)/ white Madewell tee (True to size, I’m wearing a small.)
FAVORITE #5: #SHAYONTODAY
So this happened. Shay was on The Today Show on Monday!!!!! She did a cooking segment with Kathie Lee and Hoda. AND SHE WAS AWESOME. Click HERE for the recipe and scroll down to watch the segment if you missed it!
FAVORITE #6: CAMDEN AND HIS MAMA
If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile, then you will probably remember Candace. She’s the precious mom that inspired my Special Mama contests where I honor the mom of a child with special needs with a shopping spree and lots of goodies! (Candace and I went on a shopping spree at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale two years ago and had a flipping blast!) These moms give so much of themselves to their kids, and I love getting the opportunity to treat them! I met Candace when working as an SLP for McKinney ISD because I served Candace’s son, the sweet and precious boy in the picture below.
April is Autism Awareness Month, and Candace has done some neat things to help raise awareness. She created the graphic below (which I absolutely LOVE! Camden looks precious and the text gives some really great information!), she is still selling their t-shirts, and she even went to talk to the kids in Camden’s inclusion class to talk about Autism and her sweet boy. Click HERE if you are interested in reading her post!
FAVORITE #7: SALE ITEMS
If you missed my post on Wednesday, you really need to go check it out! I name all my favorite things that I realize now SHOULD HAVE BEEN MUST HAVES, and I give a ton of outfit examples! Accessory Concierge extended the code so you can get the tassel necklace and the cushion cut bracelet (and anything else you want from Accessory Concierge) for 25% OFF through Sunday, so go review Wednesday’s post HERE and get the code! And I’m crossing my fingers that THE WATCH , THE LIP GLOSS (my current favorite is pink sequin), and the RAY-BANS are still on sale (they were on Wednesday)! Click HERE for all the Ray-Ban options.
Okay, Y’all. I’m updating this post on Friday morning because SO MANY MORE ITEMS have been added to sale due to PRICE MATCHING! I’m not sure who all is having sales, but Nordstrom stepped up and you can find TONS OF AMAZING ITEMS on sale HERE. Like, my favorite Gorjana hoops are being price matched in silver! And you can also find a great selection of women’s swimsuits! Here are just some of the items that caught my eye.
FAVORITE #8: SCALLOPED TOTE
THIS scalloped tote is already at my house. I didn’t have time to photograph it in an outfit yet, but I’m so afraid that it’s going to sell out that I had to go ahead and tell you about it! Click HERE for the tote! I like the contrast the white on the inside gives it, I love that it has enough structure to stand on it’s own, and it has little protective feet on the bottom for when you set it down. AND THE SCALLOPS! OH MY AT THE SCALLOPS! And the price is legit at $48. I have no doubts this baby is going to sell out as soon as word gets out about it.
That’s all for today, everybody! Have a wonderful weekend with your people!

I’ve never bought the Natives. Do they smell after wearing them a while? Do Carter’s feet smell after wearing them? Sorry if that sounds like a weird question.
Sheaffer says
Hi Carolyn! So the feet might smell (depending on how hard they play), but the shoes don’t AT ALL!!!! Hope this helps! Xoxo, Sheaffer

Whatever happened with the special mom event this year? I don’t remember ever seeing anything about it. Always love seeing how you take them shopping and what all they pick out!
Sheaffer says
Hi Susanne! The special mama from earlier this year wasn’t local, so she just received a gift card. I will take a new mom shopping in July! I can’t wait!!! Xoxo, Sheaffer 🙂

My son started karate a month ago – he absolutely loves it. He’s a sports lover – so it surprised me a little. It has many benefits that I think will really help him in every day life – coordination, respect, discipline, etc.

I just received the Rebecca Minkoff clutch you posted in hot pink last week to use with a black dress I am wearing to a wedding this weekend. So happy to see your post that it was on sale! I called Nordstrom and they have already credited my card for the difference….they are awesome!! Thank you for helping us all look cute and doing it on sale most of the time too! Have a great weekend!!
Melissa says
Can we get more info on Shay’s top? It’s super cute.
Sheaffer says
I believe it was from Anthropologie last year! Sorry!

Just had to tell you I finally caved and bought a military jacket after I read your post on Wed. I got the 3rd one in on the pics you posted (from Nordstrom’s for $40.80). Got it just now and it really is super cute and comfy! I would also say true to size. Love your blog and your great sense of humor and style!
Melissa D. says
Seriously, what is it about scallops?!? So adorable! Love that tote! Also love the little pigtailed PreK photo! And, great “alike vs. different” graphic. Very informative for people who don’t know!
Michelle N. says
Comfy clothes are going to bite you in the butt when he is 14 and still won’t wear anything that has a button. Not that I know this from experience with a son who has an 8th grade promotion in 6 weeks and we are already discussing loudly what he will wear. 😉
Candace says
Thanks so much for sharing about Camden and autism awareness! You are such a great cheerleader!! Sure appreciate it! 🙂 Girl, I LOVE your preschool picture!! As much as I goosh over my boys’ cuteness, I can only imagine how your mom and dad must have oooohed and aaahhed over your adorable self. Preschool or today, I love that you are a gal that’s never fully dressed without a smile! 🙂
Leann says
I have the reversible bag in a different color! It is one of my all time faves!
Shelly Upchurch says
