August Top 12

Today’s post is one of my favorite posts each and every month. Today I’m going to share your Top 12 picks from August.

Not surprisingly, many of y’alls top picks are in my top picks for the month as well. Almost all of the items I’m featuring today are items that I added to my own closet, and because of that, they are items that you will continue to see on the blog (as long as they are in stock). And what’s extra great about this favorites list is that many of the items are under $100, the majority are under $80, and several are under $50!

And I’m SUPER excited to report that 4 of the Top 12 items are NOW ON SALE!!!!

1) dress / This dress was no doubt my personal #1 find of the month. It is 100% cotton, lightweight, and fully lined. It has beautiful lace detailing and a roomy and relaxed fit with loose sleeves and a tiered skirt (which adds some interest and volume). And it has pockets. Yay!

I would say it runs a bit big, so most will probably want to size down like I did. I’m wearing a small.

I first showed it with sandals styled for summer, but look how cute it is with these tall boots too (and just imagine how great it would be with cowboy boots)!

The western vibe is a huge trend this fall, and this dress really lends itself to that, so pairing it with a denim jacket was an absolute no brainer. (The one I’m wearing is several years old, but you can click HERE for a super similar one.) I mean, take me to a country concert!

2) studded bag / The only place I’ve shown this studded bag is in the Fall Under $50 collage… but tons of y’all bought it! I think I’m going to have to order it myself. #forresearch I think I’m also going to grab the #16 dress.

3) charm bracelet / I love a great accessory, and this bracelet is fabulous. Charm bracelets are so “in”, but I don’t always love the charms on them. On this one, both the shapes and colors are great.

4) faux suede hobo bag / This suede hobo bag appeared in tons of outfit planning collages this month. The hobo styling is totally on trend, and I’m in love with this beautiful color (but it also comes in black and mocha).

5) short sleeve cardi / I figured I was going to love this short sleeve cardigan, but I had no idea how much. I’m smitten. It’s kind of a heavy knit, but although it says it has wool in it, I never would have guessed that. It just feels like a chunky cotton to me. The sleeves come right above the elbow (which I love) and they have a banded hem which is flattering to the arm. The sleeves also have a subtle puff at the shoulders. You could of course wear this open over a tee, but I really like the style now of wearing a cardi all buttoned up without anything under it. This tan-ivory stripe is what works best for my closet, but it comes in a grey-heather stripe as well. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

The jeans are on sale and have limited availability, but they are awesome. Stretchy, super comfy, and true to size.

Wanted to show you the cardi with my must have ecru jeans too. Y’all know I’m obsessed with these jeans. They are ON SALE and starting to sell out (some sizes are already gone), so if you’ve been thinking about grabbing them, NOW is the time. Stretchy, comfy, flattering, and a great color for year-round wear. For size reference, I’m wearing my regular size 4.

Seriously, if you don’t have them and they are still available in the size you need, grab them. You won’t regret it. Look how different the cardi looks with regular jeans and with these! These jeans will really stretch your closet!

6) flounce hem shirtdress / I first showed this dress in an outfit planning collage, and it received lots of interest from y’all so I ended up ordering it for myself.

I’m so happy I did because it is DARLING! And it is totally affordable at ONLY $79.50! The silhouette and the colors both scream fall, and I know I will get a lot of use out of this dress. And I’m loving the pretty floral pattern! It’s a tad bit longer on me than I would normally prefer (I’m 5’4″), but I still love it. It’s got pockets, a relaxed fit, and a double flounce skirt. Seriously so cute. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. If you’re between sizes, you might be able to size down.

Oh, and if you’re not a floral gal, it also comes in a navy dress with a small polka dot.

7) Pistola jeans / These jeans are so soooooooooo good and they are NOW ON SALE. They are very similar to Mother denim, but way more affordable. I used them in lots of the fall outfit plans I created last month.

This simple relaxed tee (it also comes in blue and black) is a great athleisure basic. It’s not fitted, but it’s not boxy either, and I think it’s quite flattering for a t-shirt. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

The tennis skort is high waisted with adorable pleats all across the back and onto the sides. It’s got shorts under it with a side pocket for tennis or pickle balls, and it’s got a zipper in the back. It’s very flattering, easy to wear, and I’m excited to have it in my closet. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium.

The ultra soft funnel neck sweatshirt lives up to its name and is ULTRA soft. It’s ON SALE too, but availability is limited. It’s a scuba knit that feels luxe (the lining is incredible), and the funnel neck and drawstring hem are such great style elements. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. It also comes in blue and black.

9) tall boots / These boots must have been around last year because they already have fabulous reviews. I grabbed the beautiful “golden caramel” shown, but they come in several other suede colors and a black leather as well.

They are soft, flattering to the leg, and I’m going to love wearing them with fall dresses. I will say that my calves are on the smaller side, and the regular width are good on me. Great news though, they have a wide calf option as well. For size reference, I sized up a half in the regular width.

It’s a really beautiful boot and a really great price point.

FYI: this dress is ON SALE, a gorgeous green, and I think it’s super special with the lace insets and ruffled and tiered skirt. It’s 100% cotton, very lightweight, and I feel great in it. The lace detailing is really beautiful, and I love this deep green paired with these suede boots. The dress also comes in black which is simple, classic, and beautiful. For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. I would say it runs a bit big, so consider sizing down if between sizes.

Here’s another dress with the boots, but if you love this dress, prepare yourself…. because $$$.

It’s PRICEY, but oh my word do I love it. And listen, about once every season I tend to splurge on an item. Over the years I’ve found that the splurge ends up being worth it because I find myself reaching for the splurge piece over and over again. I’m thinking this dress might be my splurge item for fall.

It’s definitely special, and it definitely feels expensive. (Please ignore the white paper on the tassel, I took the pictures before realizing that I hadn’t taken the covers off of both tassels.) The dark plum/wine color with the floral is gorgeous, and it’s definitely dramatic. The waist is elastic, the fit is relaxed and flowy, and this dress definitely has a romantic feel to it.

Now, if you’re tall, I’m not sure if this dress is going to work for you because this skirt is definitely on the short side. I also think it runs a bit small and if you’re between sizes you might want to consider sizing up. I’m wearing a medium, but I think a large might be more comfortable.

The boots look great with skirts too. This paisley ruffle cotton voile mini skirt is right up my alley. It’s lightweight, it’s obviously super comfortable due to the elastic/smock waist and pull-on styling, and this rich plum color is FAB for fall. And how cute is the wide bandana like hem!

Here I have it styled with just a regular white v-neck and denim jacket. It would look amazing with cowboy boots, and this is an outfit I would totally wear to a concert (although I’d also wear to just a regular ol’ dinner out)! For size reference, I’m wearing a medium. It is quite short, so if you’re tall, it might not work for you.

10) heart toggle necklace / See the picture directly above to see the heart toggle necklace. I’ve been wearing this on repeat since I first purchased it in the spring. It’s a great necklace.

11) Colleen Rothschild Illuminating Tinted Eye Cream / This very special eye cream has 1,261 reviews and 905 of them are 5 STARS!

This was my personal #1 find when I first used it a couple of years ago, and it was actually in my Top 3 finds for the entire year! It was in y’alls Top 5 for several months in a row as well. It’s an incredible product, and it looks like y’all bought it up during a sale last month.

The formula specifically targets common concerns of tired and dull eyes, such as under-eye darkness, fine lines, dryness, and puffiness.

Here’s what’s in it and what it does:

• Hyaluronic acid: helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
• Caffeine: targets puffiness and water retention.
• Pearlized pigments provide an instant brightening effect and create a radiant, glowing appearance.
• Peach coloring pigments neutralize blue undertones, helping to balance out skin tone and create a more even appearance.
• Peptites help smooth texture.

It’s really hard to capture how awesome the eye cream is in a picture, so you’re going to need to trust me. You can use it on its own on a fresh-faced day, but it also functions beautifully under makeup. I’m telling you, this eye cream is going to WOW you.

And just FYI: I don’t like concealer and never use it, but I think this eye cream not only does the job of an eye cream, but it also functions a bit like a concealer does… but it doesn’t settle into lines or crepiness (which is why I don’t like or wear concealer).

I obviously highly recommend this product. Like I said before, IT WILL WOW YOU.

12) Rothy’s leopard Mary Jane’s / SALE ALERT! SALE ALERT! SALE ALERT! I fell in love with Rothy’s last year when I got my camo loafers in the fall, and I’m now a huge believer in the brand. I think these Mary Jane’s are precious AND GOOD HEAVENS they are comfy! They are soft and flexible, and you can throw them in the wash (and then let them air dry). In addition to this leopard, they also come in black, a wine, and even a neutral sparkle that is actually really great in person. True to size for me, but if you’re between sizes, size up. I’ve also had several readers comment that you should size up if you have wide feet.

If you’ve never tried Rothy’s, they kind of feel like a thick and compressive sock when wearing them. And they are seriously DARLING. (If you don’t like the leopard, grab one of the solid color options.)
