A Floral Maxi

Speaking of MOM, with Mother’s Day coming up, I picked up this outfit knowing it would be a perfect outfit for church and Mother’s Day brunch!

This beautiful floral dress is called a “midi dress”, but it’s definitely more of a maxi on my 5’4″ frame.

I was totally drawn to the large-scale floral pattern, and I absolutely love the combination of bright yellows and pinks.  The tiered design with the ruffle details is so pretty and feminine, but I love how the fit is still relaxed.  It’s PERFECT for brunch. Give me all the mimosas.  And quiche.  And hash brown casserole.  And yogurt parfait with granola.  There’s room for ALL OF IT.

For size reference, I’m wearing a small, and the fit is still quite oversized.

I won’t be wearing this dress without a denim jacket until summer, but I wanted you to see the square neck and wide straps.  In this picture you can also see the pretty little tiny ruffles and teeny tiny pleats at each tier.  SO. PRETTY.  It has such a romantic feel to it.

This denim jacket is super soft and perfectly oversized without being boxy.  I’m wearing a small.

I get requests all the time for a denim jacket that isn’t as form fitting as my must have denim jacket.  Some also want a jacket that’s a bit longer.  The problem is, when looking for a jacket that’s more relaxed and a bit longer….they are often too stiff and too boxy.

Not this one!

This one is a winner, ladies!  It’s soft, stretchy, and has a longer and more relaxed fit.  And I love the light wash.  It will be so cute with my white Democracy jeans.  (Click HERE to see me in the jeans and just imagine how cute this denim jacket would be with the outfit in the post.)

Styling tip:  I recommend always cuffing the sleeves of your denim jackets.  It shows a bit of contrast with the color, and the cuffed sleeve always adds interest.  I like to pop the collar too.

There’s just something about a popped collar.

When choosing accessories for this outfit, I knew they needed to be bright and bold.

I picked up these turquoise beaded hoops last month, and I’ve been wearing them quite a bit. They also come in coral, fuchsia, white, and yellow.  They are light, don’t tug on my ears during the day, and they are also ON SALE!

The multi-color bracelet is SO. MUCH. FUN.  The bracelet incorporates lots of colors, designs, and textures to make one absolutely adorable bracelet (with a magnetic closure).  And the bracelet is ON SALE too!

This outfit would of course be cute with a standard neutral tote and shoes, but I thought it could totally handle a colorful bag and shoes too!

This blush pink tote perfectly complements the pink and yellow floral pattern.  It comes in tons of colors (11 to be exact!), it’s reversible, and it has a small zippered pouch inside.  It’s also got a cute little tassel!

This tote is big enough to hold your makeup bag, your wallet, a sunglasses case, a laptop, a water bottle, and there’s still room for more.  If your mom likes a big bag, this would be a great idea for a Mother’s Day gift.

And sure, a neutral or cognac slide sandal or wedge would look great with this dress…but I wanted to go bold!  So even though there isn’t any orange in the dress, I went for a beautiful orange with the sandals!  It just worked!

The sandals are DARLING (love the thick braided design), COMFY, and ON SALE!  They are true to size for me, and they also come in yellow, tan, and black.  These too would be a great gift for mom.
