5 Days of Fabulous Day #2: Blardigans and UGG slippers

Today is Day #2 of Five Days of Fabulous!  Wasn’t Day #1 fun? So, what does day #2 hold?  Well, I am crazy excited about our giveaway today.  When Nordstrom reached out and asked me to talk about Holiday Gifts I love to give, 1 item came to mind before all others.  It’s an item that I’ve owned for almost 4 years now.  I named it a MUST HAVE when I found it back in 2013, and it was a Santa Alert in 2014.  And it’s a gift that I give for all sorts of occasions.  Two years ago I gave it to my mom, my sister, my mother-in -law, my sister-in-law, and a grandmother for Christmas.  It’s a gift that spans the ages.  I’m telling you, your 14 year old daughter will love it just as much as your 86 year old grandmother.  Although I’m not sure anybody will love it as much as my 8 year old son loves his.  Because yes, he has one too.

If you’ve been reading here for awhile, you know I’m of course talking about the blardigan!!!  IT’s THE BEST GIFT EVER!  And after it’s entrance on to the scene last year, I’m also talking about the baby blardigan.  Basically, when you give a blardigan or baby blardigan as a gift, you give the gift of being COZY!  And at the risk of being cheesy, it’s like you are gifting a hug.  FOR REAL.  And there’s nothing better than that.  And if we’re talking cozy, we need to talk about UGG slippers as well.  Because they are fantastic.

Soooooooooooo……Speaking of blardigans and UGG slippers, want to know what we are giving away on Day #2 of Five Days of Fabulous?

Yes, you read that right!  We’re giving away 3 blardigans and 3 pairs of UGG slippers.  The winner will win a blardigan or baby blardigan and a pair of UGG slippers (choices to follow) for herself AND 2 FRIENDS!

So if you are new here and have NO IDEA what in the world a blardigan is, I might as well admit it’s a made up word.  I made it up myself to name an item that is actually called a “drape front cardigan”.  But I’m sorry, “drape front cardigan” doesn’t do the item justice.  If “blardigan” could be found in the dictionary, I’m sure sure it would say this:  part blanket, part cardigan, and the absolute coziest item of clothing you will have ever the pleasure of putting on your body.  EVER,  In your whole life. EVER.

And I’m telling you, the only thing better than getting a blardigan is GIVING A BLARDIGAN.  The person you give a blardigan to will think of you all year long.  Every time they grab for it on a Saturday morning, they will think of you.  Every time they snuggle up with it on the couch, they will think of you.  Every time their kid wants to cuddle up close with them because they are wearing it, they will think of you.  YOU WILL BE A BLARDIGAN HERO.  If you have a friend or family member going through a hard time, the blardigan is a great way to let them know that you love them and are thinking about them.  I’ve given one several times to friends going through cancer treatment.  They are also great gifts for new moms.

So let’s start out by talking about the original blardigan (plus-sized version HERE)!   I made the below graphic way back in 2013 when I initially discovered the blardigan.  I’m wearing it here with a MUST HAVE shirt, jeans, and boots.

And if you’ve read the blog for awhile, you’ve seen this picture before too.  This is Vanessa (she works at Stonebriar) who was actually the one that convinced me to try the blardigan on for the first time.  If you’re shopping in the lingerie section, be sure to ask for her (and tell her I said “hi”)!

So although it’s found in the lingerie section, I do wear it out of the house.  But most often now I’m wearing it like this….just lounging around the house.

Or like this….running around doing errands with my MUST HAVE leggings and cardy UGGs!  That’s a Target striped tank from years ago.

Last year the baby blardigan popped up on the scene (available in plus size HERE)!  And y’all, I think I love it more than the original.  And that’s sayin’ somethin’.  It’s less fabric, it’s shorter, AND IT HAS POCKETS.  And it’s a lot easier to wear out of the house, just like a regular long cardigan would be.  I have the taupe, but some of the other colors available follow:

 

This is my favorite way to wear the baby blardigan:  with a tee, jeans, and a fun necklace.

It’s oh so soft, a great shape, and pretty much perfect.  And I’m not sure if I mentioned this already, but POCKETS.

Sometimes I wear it super casually….

But as you can see, it can also be dressed up!   Here I am in several different outfits over the past year.  Pictures #1 and #3 show it with a tunic tee (pic #1) and dress (pic #3) with leggings, dressed up with boots and nice jewelry!

And if you are a blardigan freak like I am, there are also blardigan pants.  Which I call blants.  😉  I don’t wear these out of the house, but OH MY WORD do I wear them inside.

And just for fun, some reader pics from over the years of people in their blardigans.  I recently received this pic from April, a long time reader!  I actually think April was one of my first readers!!!  Well, her gorgeous daughter Madison reads the blog now too, and she wore her blardigan for some of her senior pictures.  LOVE.

I think I received this next picture last year.  Meghan (another sweet reader) sent me an e-mail letting me know that her 3 year old and her baby both loved her blardigan.  I hear this one ALL THE TIME!  I promise it will get you more cuddles.  #cuddlegoals

This next one is also from last year.  It’s of my friend Sarah and her precious son, Ryan.  Here’s what she said, “Not that you need another e-mail about this, but I’m even more convinced that the blardigan is the best thing ever.  I think that every new mom needs at least 2 in the rotation when they are home from the hospital.  I can look somewhat presentable when people stop by, but basically I wear it constantly and only take it off to wash it and shower!  And it’s perfect for nursing.  Good thing I have 2!  🙂  I should also add that I have a Barefoot Dreams throw that stays on my chair in the nursery so I’m completely covered in coziness.”  🙂

So let’s talk about blardigan sizing for a minute.  The arms on both the blardigan and baby blardigan are fitted, which is what enables you to be able to wear them out of the house if you wish (and not look like you are wearing a robe).  I wear a small/medium in the original blardigan and an x-small/small in the baby blardigan.
